I don't get upset at all over stuff like this. The last half decade has kinda sapped a lot of the joy out of Kentucky basketball for me. Kinda numb over tough losses anymore. Still love and support the Cats, always will. Just ready for a change. And yes, the financial aspect makes it tremendously difficult. Unless Cal does the admirable thing and moves on within a mutual split. People are always emotional after these loses. But I'm reading a lot of posts that are similar to how I feel. Losing interest and not being as emotionally invested isn't what you want a $9M a year coach to inspire. Like I said before, Mitch's scale will start tipping the other way as he weighs the buyout and fan, booster and sponsor money dwindles.

Right now, you can't separate the two. The program chooses the coach, they chose Cal. I support the program. You don't. I get it.
Friend, if you can't read and comprehend what I wrote, stating multiple times that I cheer for the team, but not beholden to a coach... well, I don't know how else to say it. I support Kentucky basketball, and what's best for the team. Cal is no longer the best option for prioritizing results for the University of Kentucky. I get you like the guy and the team, but eventually you'll figure out that Cal is no longer the guy for the job. Mitch will do something when the money being lost eclipses the buyout.
The team picks the coach. Its really not possible to separate the two. Fans don't decide the best option. The team/school does that. These shrill negative hysterics have already made the national news. Our fanbase now looks dumb as shit. Small group did that to us. Now it taints the program. Still Call will remain.
Well, schools seperate from coaches all the time. Unless Cal magically changes/updates his style, learns some Xs&Os etc, and decides to prioritize results for UK over the 'making' NBA players, he'll just continue to underperform until the money makes sense for Mitch. IMO, none of that will happen with Cal, and he's basically living on borrowed time. Dead man walking. Stuffed suit. It'll get worse and more ugly before the end. Just my opinion.
Sure. 23,000,000. You gotta look at it from their perspective. Teams is markedly better than the year before. Good players coming in unless the fans run them off. Doesn't have the program on probation. Meeting his contract. Just saying. 23,000,000 to make marginal if any improvements. BCG type risks. On top of that, new salary. Giving the appearance of the inmates running the asylum.
Gotta ask yourself what are you really buying with that 23,000,000.

You absolutely don’t get it. Continually posting crap like this. Did you think the same thing when Billy Clyde finished year two? There is a separation of program and Coach. If you choose the coach (which obviously you do) over the program and it’s history, you are no longer a fan of the program… just a fan of the coach. Coaches come and go, regardless of what program they represent. (See Alabama football) Programs don’t, period. I question your true fandom to UK, as many others do. I just wish that Cal would choose to move on.
As I have stated many many times, I did not post during the BCG era. I am not stupid enough to bash my team in public.
Not about the team anymore man. You made it about the coach. Me and thousands of others love the team, players and the program. That is why you and I should expect better, because we love UK and what we want them to be. I don’t doubt your passion, I just think it is misplaced. I think we both agree, UK is better than the product being produced. I wish you well, I really do.
I'm another step closer. The X's and O's have to change.
But I'm partially optimistic of this happening. I saw a lot of changes for the better over the last year. He got rid of dead weight staff, he started to emphasize more shooting (although we went away from that towards the end), we got more experience.
So to me, I like that Cal made many of the changes that we all wanted. But he still has one more to make and it's maybe the most important one: will he change his coaching philosophy? Or is he going to stick with this antiquated offense every time?
Hes probably got one year to figure it out..
