Boysssss it’s gonna be a long season…

I’m not ready to completely change my opening opinion, but I am ready to retract on 1 small part of it. Kerr Krissa showed me some defense intensity and ability to stay in front of the ball lastnight. Koby brea showed a little better defense as well. So i will go against my thread title and say that it will not be a long season anymore, however until I see us against duke i still think there’s a chance we could be overwhelmed by superior athleticism. Once again, hope I’m wrong tho lol
You’re still an idiot

I think we can all understand that there is a small sample size to go on as far as how to feel about our chances this year. Realistically, I think the rest of the country and sportswriters look at Kentucky's schedule and see it's brutally tough. And in Pope
's first year, expectations are low with an entirely new roster on the floor together for the first time....

But I think it's fooling a lot of people. On the surface, it would seem to be bad news for Kentucky's outlook this year. But underneath the surface of it all .....

This team was handpicked as a roster to be complimentary of each other in ways where the raw talent of one and done coaching philosophy has been left behind for a more balanced & experienced roster approach, with a focus on spreading the floor with a modern style gameplan, getting back to the basics. Study game film, scout the teams. Work hard.

This team has great hands, from bigs to small. Williams, Butler, and Oweh are a trio that will lead us to many wins. Robinson is a drop dead shooter. So many weapons and players that can make shots. It's unlike the less talented in the shooting department Kentucky teams of Cal's era. These guys got handles, and can shoot well as a team. We have some decent size too. I think we're going to be in the mix of a top ten team all year long, once we get in the top ten. I love the idea of earning it as we go along, too. We will !

And we have experience. For me, that is the key. Mark it down now, I say this ....

We're going to destroy Bucknell. These Cats got a chip on their shoulder. They are hungry young men. They want to exceed these low expectations.

We are going to beat this young dUKe team too.

Then kick back and watch what they say about Kentucky. I'm quietly confident in this team. And maybe ... not so quiet?!

Go Big Blue !
Pretty prophetic 👍🏻

Tell your friend u can look at threads without being a member. Just a small lil nugget for u on this sunny Tuesday 😉
Fees too high? There’s zero chance you were on here just monitoring and not offering dumb opinions and your great insight. As others have said, you’re lying.

Sheeweee this is an easy bunch to get fired up 🤯. Please everyone come back and tell me I wasn’t completely wrong when top tier teams score at will against us. And I’ll do the same if teams don’t. The difference between last years defense and now is last years team actually COULD play lock down D if they wanted but chose offense over defense most nights. I’m just saying I don’t see this team being able to be a lock down defense. I could see a Zone being our best option against a lot of teams in the sec
You should honestly be banned for life

Great Offense- CHECK
Pretty good defense- CHECK
Grit and determination with unending tenacity- CHECK
Smart players that play well together-CHECK
Coach that is a GENIUS and is implementing a system that is REVOLUTIONARY- CHECK

To quote an old coach that is no longer around- "I like MY team"!!!!!!

But no complaining from me. Just stating the obvious. We don’t have SEC talent or athleticism. Slow footed. I don’t worry about the offense, although it could struggle against top tier competition as well, but the defense is where we are gonna struggle. And rebounding. But I’ll take a year or 2 of pope getting his players in place over another year of Cows 1 and done early round exits.

a man and woman are playing a game of frisbee in a room .

There's still a long way to go, and a lot can happen between here and April. Even if we finish where we did last year, this has already been worth every minute. Even the losses.

And especially the Cal worshippers and LOD members eating sht for how well we've played to this point. We are not what we were a year ago, and I love it. We are not what so many loved 6-8 years ago, and I love it.

You just don't know what you're missing until it's taken away from you, and to get it back again is priceless.

"Just stating the obvious"

Priceless statement!

Things that are obvious from your post...... discuss

then a "me scared of cal at rupp" post. So obvious.
Are you effin kidding me? What in the WORLD has he seen that would cause him to be scared? Nothing. Just another preemptive idiotic post that he can crow about if the unthinkable happens and one that he'll never own up to when it doesn't.

Just a stroll down memory lane for the haters. I wanted to see exactly what I said in the initial post. Seems spot on
You were still wrong. We haven't been struggling on offense against top competition. Without a PG we scored the most points in any game against Tennessee, the number 1 defense in the country. And again without a PG against Ole Miss, the 15th best defense in the country, we played so well we jumped up to 2nd in offensive efficiency, surpassing Alabama.

When you made this post we were a full strength team. Do you know what the defense was ranked at full strength? 30th in the country. If this team was at full strength we would have a top 5 offense and most likely a to 50 defense at worst. Considering how good the offense is, that's a team that's probably a 2 seed at easily competes for a Final Four.

I don't think people realize just how handicapped this team is right now due to injuries. It has caused 95% of the issues everyone is worried about.

Injuries isn’t an excuse for this. Since the start of SEC play our defense ranks 340th nationally. It’s been trash all year long but the sec talent level has really exposed it

It is amazing the level of self-delusion someone will permit to reinforce their own confirmation bias. What a pointless thread by a knucklehead.

I’m bringing this back up bc of the amount of criticism I received from it. And seeing if anyone wants to eat crow
If you’re watching this season and see anyone should be eating crow except you, I can’t help you bud.

I don’t get it though. Aren’t you a UK fan? Why would you think this to be a good idea to start with?

Absolutely I’m a KENTUCKY fan. But how should I eat crow instead of the people criticizing my post? My take was correct and it was bashed.

That’s the problem. Your post is incorrect. This year has been a blast. We on a skid due to injuries but it isn’t over. If you are a Kentucky fan, maybe you shouldn’t be on here celebrating. As of today, we are a 4 seed…so take your victory lap around a pile of your own feces if you want

And if you read my initial post it said we COULD struggle to score against top teams. Not that we for sure would. So there again you are making my post to be what u want it to be instead of what it actually states

So you’re the kind of person that moves the goalposts when proven wrong? Good to know….

Do you know how defensive efficiency rankings are calculated? SEC talent has exposed nothing. All of those statistics are adjusted for your competition.

The fact is we were 30th at full strength. That includes games against Duke and Gonzaga (and even that game we were missing Butler and Kriisa for a half). We weren't 30th because the competition was poor. After adjusting for the non-conference schedule, which actually wasn't ranked that poorly compared to many power conference teams, we were 30th when healthy.

I dont know where your 340th comes from. That's most likely just a raw PPG measure of the defense, which would be heavily influenced by our fast offense creating more possessions. Barttorvik has us at 214th since the start of conference play. A conference season in which we've basically been without our PG for half the games, without our backup PG for all of them, and either without or with a barely healthy Carr for half our games.

And no, injuries aren't an excuse. It's a explanation. And a perfectly valid one at that.
