I think we can all understand that there is a small sample size to go on as far as how to feel about our chances this year. Realistically, I think the rest of the country and sportswriters look at Kentucky's schedule and see it's brutally tough. And in Pope
's first year, expectations are low with an entirely new roster on the floor together for the first time....
But I think it's fooling a lot of people. On the surface, it would seem to be bad news for Kentucky's outlook this year. But underneath the surface of it all .....
This team was handpicked as a roster to be complimentary of each other in ways where the raw talent of one and done coaching philosophy has been left behind for a more balanced & experienced roster approach, with a focus on spreading the floor with a modern style gameplan, getting back to the basics. Study game film, scout the teams. Work hard.
This team has great hands, from bigs to small. Williams, Butler, and Oweh are a trio that will lead us to many wins. Robinson is a drop dead shooter. So many weapons and players that can make shots. It's unlike the less talented in the shooting department Kentucky teams of Cal's era. These guys got handles, and can shoot well as a team. We have some decent size too. I think we're going to be in the mix of a top ten team all year long, once we get in the top ten. I love the idea of earning it as we go along, too. We will !
And we have experience. For me, that is the key. Mark it down now, I say this ....
We're going to destroy Bucknell. These Cats got a chip on their shoulder. They are hungry young men. They want to exceed these low expectations.
We are going to beat this young dUKe team too.
Then kick back and watch what they say about Kentucky. I'm quietly confident in this team. And maybe ... not so quiet?!
Go Big Blue !
