I have to admit I didn't realize that UNLV's head basketball coach's brother was Zimmerman's high school coach. When you put that fact along with staying near his step mother - then Zimmerman was a lock for UNLV. The kid probably did caught in Cal and Kentucky and the limelight, but when it came down to it you can't get thru some of these issues. It is really hard for someone from that part of the country to come to Kentucky. Plus remember how hard it was for Terrence Jone and also Kyle Wiltjer. No doubt in my mind Wiltjer would have done just as well at Kentucky as he did at Gonzaga - why do I say that. One player could have made the difference this year - him. He could have redshirted here and been in the same or better condition. Plus look what we needs are for next year - a scorer from outside!
Also, I think the platoon decision and NOT winning the title has been heavily used against us late in the year. I do think Cal will continue to get his share of players over the long run - we might even have some nice surprises for the rest of this year when it's all said and done. One last thing. The three guys we have signed are really good players, people seem to be ignoring those guys - can you imagine how this board would be right now if we didn't have those three signed! (They are only the number one rated class - jeez we have become really spoiled from about 6 years ago haven't we!)
