He's still benched due to an investigation about a single car accident that hasn't been reported and confirmed by police or anyone but self. Certainly sounds like that's what he's saying to cover up what the actual issue is, which who knows could be FBI scandal related? Just incase anyone hasn't noticed this whole Billy Preston situation is starting to look very shady. And if we know anything about KU then that's they're about as low down and dirty as it gets besides UL and UNC. Sorry for the random post just seems very odd this story isn't getting any attention when it appears to be suspicious at best.

I seriously doubt this has anything to do with a car....here's a recent story and some quotes from Self on Preston and De Sousa:

“I think our school has done a great job in creating, getting, all the information that could possibly be pertinent to his situation,” Self said. “The other thing you don’t know … they (NCAA officials) could come back and say, ‘We need more information.’ They could come back and say, ‘OK good to go.’ They could come back and say, ‘No it’s not good to go.’

“The thing about it, from an optimism standpoint, we don’t know how other people will view what we have done,” Self said, ostensibly referring to the NCAA’s opinion of KU’s findings regarding the financial picture surrounding a vehicle the 6-foot-10 Preston has been driving on campus this school year.

It seems like every year there some sort of scandal involving Kansas basketball. They are as dirty as UofL, and North Carolina. There's no way a Kentucky coach could last here if we were half as dirty as Kansas.

These statements seem odd to me. Why are you creating information? In general, you gather information, you prove the truth, you create a lie. And if you have done everything appropriately and by the rules, why does it matter how they view what you have done. Now if you have broken rules or operated in that gray area, you will worry about how other people view what you have done. Now I haven't read either of those articles and don't know the context in which those statements were made, but I think I would have used different wording if I was Self.

Preston having issues is the least surprising story of the year. Calipari didn’t give him a sniff and it wasn’t because of his basketball skills.

Another desperate move by Self.
Kansas is as desperate as UL was when it came to cutting corners trying to get a 5 star to sign there. Difference is UL will get hammered while KU will walk because Self is seen as one of the good guys.

The car is a cover story or the tip of the iceberg.we are forgetting the missing/being late for class story that kept him out of the first game or so.There is an issue with Preston and KU is doing their usual dance around, sidestep and cover up routine.

They are as bad as UL (just a little smarter about it) Preston probably has a shot at playing the second semester, but that is probably up in the air or we would be hearing about it from some fans.

The NCAA is also silent on this, the school is evidently afraid to play him and that speaks volumes since it is KU we are talking about. I doubt it is an FBI issue at this point, but it could become one if the car and its ownership are really in question. KU may have been smart(crooked) enough to put a layer or two of insulation between Preston and direct payment of money(I can think of a few other schools that wish they had done that)

Someone else mentioned the Alexander case, this may be a variation of that situation that would have never come to light if not for the accident.I think that is a bit unlikely because he missed the first game or so before the accident

This is vintage KU,questionable things going on surrounded by misinformation and half truths

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Kansas head coach Bill Self has been named president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Board of Directors. Self, whose two-year term will span the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years, was officially installed as NABC president at the 2017 NABC Convention and oversaw his first Board of Directors’ meeting earlier this month in Indianapolis.

He has been working with them for a few years. He has his get of jail free card and has had it for some time. No way theyd would touch somenoe in that position.

That is one thing I feel blessed about our coach. He only brings in well adjusted, well behaved kids, who are a compliment to society and not a drain on it. It is not the only thing I like about Cal, but it is at the top.

Wondered about that language as well, creating information is not something a person or school does. You gather it,report it,release it,interpret it,act on it and maybe a few other things but you don't create it

The second part I can see to a degree,no one ever can say how the NCAA will view anything, but it KU's case it usually is in the most favorable light possible.

Squirrelhead is the dirtiest SOB west of the Mississippi.

The question is who bought the car and/or where the money came from.

4 days ago, the greasy DA decided to not press charges on any of the rapists in the KU basketball dorm because they couldn't identify the suspect. Pretty sure the perpetrator(s) was Bragg or is still living in the dorm.

Poor Billy he's a great kid and speaks seven languages and should be able to play right away , its a travesty right Rug Doctor !!

It's quite obvious to anyone with more than 2 brain cells that KU is dirty, plain and simple.
Self became desperate when Cal started reeling in top 1-2 classes every year.

I get KU is a rival and hated, but I don’t understand this sentiment. Self is the one who held him out, and from what I read on all this they are the ones who discovered something and then apparently are self reporting it. Isn’t that the opposite of being shady? Louisville would have likely covered it up, or better yet, have paid for the car themselves.

Thought your radar was broken. Welcome back. Congrats on the big win last night.

You mean like former Kansas Jayhawk Scott Pollard "selling" his car to Tyshawn Thomas who at the time was the starting guard at Kansas?

Link

The car Markieff Morris wrecked in a non-injury, two-car accident Sept. 13 belonged to teammate Tyshawn Taylor rather than former Jayhawk Scot Pollard, Kansas associate athletic director Jim Marchiony and Pollard said Wednesday.

"I sold the car to Tyshawn in a completely legitimate transaction," Pollard said. "You have a certain amount of time to register the car in your own name and apparently he had some kind of accident in that window and apparently he hadn't had a chance or hadn't gotten around to registering it in his name. That's the end of the story as far as I'm concerned."

Like the above poster mentioned, the only 5 stars that KU gets are the ones that Duke and UK pass on because of red flags. Preston begged UK to recruit him but Cal would not budge. Now we see why. Self knew about the red flags but chose to sign him anyway. And the only reason he's sitting is because of the police report Self knew it would become public knowledge.

I agree with the sentiment.

However, there was never a police report on the accident. I believe it was because the damage to the car (tires?) was determined to be less than $1,000.00, so no report was necessary. Also, likely because the Lawrence, KS police don't want to write up a report with a kid driving a car there's no way he could afford.

Starting to believe he'll never play. The latest assumption was he'd be back after 9 games because that's now the standard accepted suspension length for impermissible benefits.

Well, that has passed and he is still gone.

Does anyone here really believe that Self would hold out a player for 1) being late for class and 2) scuffing up a tire? This has to be Adidas related. Kansas fans play it off, but you know they're holding a tight one.
