I'm still waiting on your list of 10 spin-off shows with a better 3 episode start.Originally posted by kmann0433:
I will say, I thought last night's episode was the most interesting so far... at least it was to me.
Won't really go that far, but with the Tuco business in episodes 2 and 3, it's hard to keep things on a high end keel like he can. We're building a story here. I'm definitely all in with it.Originally posted by Kooky Kats:
#4 boring
In my opinion, I think Mike is there staking out for a lawyer. He's not working that lame job just for fun. Think about it. For his line of work he has to be careful in finding a lawyer to help him with his dirty work. Working that gate he sees and interacts with everyone that works there, even the lawyers. Also an easy job to get for Mike, with him being an ex cop.Originally posted by Altro Cat:
I am curious as to how he is going to build the character of Mike from a parking lot attendant to what he becomes later on with Gus. Be interesting to see if he becomes a regular character or just has a cameo now and then as a nod to BB.
Loving the show so far and was surprised to see Tuco emerging as a storyline this early in the show. Of all the characters from BB he is one of the ones I least expected to transition over to Better Call Saul.
Not sure if this is an easter egg or not but when the skate guys are clinging to the truck and telling Saul where they are, one of them says the street, "Wantabo". Anyone remember who lived on Wantabo? "6353 Wantabo, Apt 6." It's where Gale Boetticher lived. Just thought that was kinda neat. My buddy and I actually looked at each other when we heard that. I was like, Wantabo? Why does that sound familiar?Originally posted by Kramer318:
To be honest, I'm not quite sure. Since Gilligan loved to use Flash Forwards that shows a snippet of what is to come, we could very well see what happens in Saul's future at the end of the series. Perhaps he gets fed up with his isolated and fearful state of living and tries to get back to where he once was. I'd love to see Saul pick himself back up after getting destroyed by Walter White. Sort of a rise, fall, and rise again story.Originally posted by -LEK-:
This. I think it also lets the viewer know where the ending is. The thing with BB, its apparent Gilligan had an overview of how the series would begin and end. Have a feeling that this scene lets us know where the ending will be.Originally posted by UK_Norm:
I love that even though its a prequel, the opening scene was a flash forward to Saul's life post-BB.
It's going to be great.
There is a lot of room for Saul as a character, hubris, tragic flaws, etc.
Another fun little easter egg/foreshadowing that you can only catch when you rewatch the episode is when Saul is explaining his scheme to the skaters, one of them goes "Tight, Tight, Tight" A once used Tuco phrase in Breaking Bad after he snorts Walters meth. Brilliant!

Best episode so far.
Very rarely. But every show is going to hit lulls or have episodes where a subplot is being developed or something like that. Cranston was so breathtakingly good it didn't matter.Originally posted by bigblueinsanity:
Breaking bad was predictable?
I was totally looking for Hector in the nursing home. Or waiting to hear a bell in the background. I'm also glad we're getting to Mike's story. Mike was always one of my favorites the episode Walt shot him left me pissed off. Love that he's a part of this show.Originally posted by ukrjr1:
Excited that we're getting into the Mike storyline...this wasn't my favorite episode, but it set a lot up. Love this show.
Also, was I the only one hoping we'd see Hector at the nursing home?
Don't know that for sure...Tuco was taking care of Hector, yes. But we also know that Skinny Pete met Tuco in jail, so Tuco has a jail sentence at some point before BB starts. It's plausible that Hector was in that nursing home while Tuco was in jail.Originally posted by m080470:
Hector wasn't put in a nursing home until Tuco was killed by Hank.
Right. Seemed clear the 2nd half of the episode was a segue into an upcoming Mike storyline. Looks great.Originally posted by UK_Is_Good:
The first half tonight was hilarious. The second half dragged a bit, but next week looks epic.
Don't watch BB until after Saul is over. I want to hear how it was watching it in order. That is pretty cool to think about. You will eventually watch breaking bad if you love this show. That's for sure.Originally posted by UK_Memphis:
Their method worked on me. I've never seen BB but Saul may be my current favorite show. I think it's hilarious. And it sounds like it may continue to be a comedic drama. I don't get the whole last night was a meh episode.
Agreed. Pitch-perfect delivery by Jonathon Banks too. Dude was born to be Mike.Originally posted by Kramer318:
Wow.. this episode... really powerful stuff. What a back story from Mike.
Serious question: do you think the creators of the show would focus on a parking lot attendant if it wouldn't be important going forward? Do you think they just wanted to goof off and write a meaningless episode about a tertiary character for the hell of it?Originally posted by JohnBlue_:
Never watched breaking bad so this episode sucked. Only a cameo by the shows star in favor of a parking lot attendant? Seriously if they can't make it half way through the first season without having to draw on another show the future doesn't look good.

Mike was one of the most beloved characters on BB so everyone who watched that show knows he is more than a parking lot attendant.Originally posted by JohnBlue_:

Are you kidding... heck yea I could see them writing an off the wall episode, most shows do. I just thought the timing was odd this early into the series. Obviously you know the direction of this do to it's ties with BB. I have watched one episode of BB 3 times now. Every time I notice it on and flip it over to see what the fuss is about it's the same damn re-run.Originally posted by TransyCat09:
