I'm still waiting on your list of 10 spin-off shows with a better 3 episode start.
Another great episode. Still anxiously anticipating a Walt Jr. cereal eating cameo though. (fingers crossed)
The b-hole stuff made me cackle so hard.

We're about to find out about Mike, aren't we? I'd have to watch it again, but what was that little riddle, or saying, that Saul said to Mike? Made it seem like Saul knew Mike was involved in other things.

In my opinion, I think Mike is there staking out for a lawyer. He's not working that lame job just for fun. Think about it. For his line of work he has to be careful in finding a lawyer to help him with his dirty work. Working that gate he sees and interacts with everyone that works there, even the lawyers. Also an easy job to get for Mike, with him being an ex cop.
If you can remember we don't meet Mike until Jesse needs help when Jane dies. Walt calls Saul up and Saul sends Mike to take care of it. So with that being said why would he suddenly back out of the little deal the cops made with him in episode 3? I think it's Mike realizing he just found his guy (Saul). But as I said before, just my opinion. I could be totally off base.
Not sure if this is an easter egg or not but when the skate guys are clinging to the truck and telling Saul where they are, one of them says the street, "Wantabo". Anyone remember who lived on Wantabo? "6353 Wantabo, Apt 6." It's where Gale Boetticher lived. Just thought that was kinda neat. My buddy and I actually looked at each other when we heard that. I was like, Wantabo? Why does that sound familiar?

"Hero" was not only the worst episode, it was just poor television. There were some very small moments that were interesting (Saul eyeing the orange shirt in the clothes shop), but there wasn't much going on in that episode.
The one thing I've noticed about the show so far. And this is a minor gripe because I thought the first three episodes were solid. But Odenkirk is not a great actor. One of the many things that made Breaking Bad so riveting was how Cranston could just chew scenery. The few times the plot broke down or became predictable, you knew Cranston would carry the show.
Odenkirk doesn't have that kind of range. It may not matter, but unless it's The Wire so much in television depends on the ability of its main character to carry the action.
Very rarely. But every show is going to hit lulls or have episodes where a subplot is being developed or something like that. Cranston was so breathtakingly good it didn't matter.

Saul Goodman is a treasure. Enjoy him. We saw the birth of Saul Goodman in the 3rd episode. The show is now just beginning.

Odenkirk talked in a podcast about Saul being his first real opportunity to be just an actor. He said everything else he's ever done, he's been involved in the creative process of writing, directing, producing. But the Saul character is the first time he was hired just to act and he said he really learned a lot from watching Cranston. He said it was a huge difference from Mr. Show where his mind was on 10 different things when he was doing a sketch.
Let's not compare Odenkirk to Cranston... ever... Some may be turned off because Odenkirk isn't Cranston but nobody is Cranston. Nor will many ever be.

Would have to think something happens with her that allows him to be with his Granddaughter. And then at the end his Philly cohorts show up. What that is going to be about I have no clue. But can't wait for next week to see.

I was totally looking for Hector in the nursing home. Or waiting to hear a bell in the background. I'm also glad we're getting to Mike's story. Mike was always one of my favorites the episode Walt shot him left me pissed off. Love that he's a part of this show.
Their method worked on me. I've never seen BB but Saul may be my current favorite show. I think it's hilarious. And it sounds like it may continue to be a comedic drama. I don't get the whole last night was a meh episode.
Right. Seemed clear the 2nd half of the episode was a segue into an upcoming Mike storyline. Looks great.
Don't watch BB until after Saul is over. I want to hear how it was watching it in order. That is pretty cool to think about. You will eventually watch breaking bad if you love this show. That's for sure.
Ok, so we know this will follow a similar relatively short time frame over the course of how many ever seasons. BB IN 5 seasons really only covered a less than two year story arc. In this episode of Saul, Kaylee isn't a whole lot younger than when Mike last saw her on BB.
Best episode yet by a mile. Incredible television. Looks like the next episode will be much of the same.
What's pretty amazing in all of this aside from the brilliant episode is that it ties in to Breaking Bad seamlessly... His affinity for Jesse... Because he wants to be pure, like his own son, makes absolute and total sense. I don't know what people will think about this episode without watching Breaking Bad, but this last episode is a treat for all of us. Television doesn't get much better than tonight.

Never watched breaking bad so this episode sucked. Only a cameo by the shows star in favor of a parking lot attendant? Seriously if they can't make it half way through the first season without having to draw on another show the future doesn't look good.
Serious question: do you think the creators of the show would focus on a parking lot attendant if it wouldn't be important going forward? Do you think they just wanted to goof off and write a meaningless episode about a tertiary character for the hell of it?
Mike is a very important character and this episode will be important for THIS story, even without the BB tie ins
Are you kidding... heck yea I could see them writing an off the wall episode, most shows do. I just thought the timing was odd this early into the series. Obviously you know the direction of this do to it's ties with BB. I have watched one episode of BB 3 times now. Every time I notice it on and flip it over to see what the fuss is about it's the same damn re-run.
