Best Concert Moments

If we're talking best concert that I attended then it would have to be Yes, 1976 (?). Laser light show blew a then 16-year old away. Couldn't stop talking about it. Of course, it probably wouldn't age well in today's world but back then? Man o man!
Jon Anderson is a true hippy....and I don't even understand what Steve Howe is even doing when he plays. Very complex.

Don't hate me for saying this...but...one of the most amazing shows that I ever saw was Michael Jackson at Freedom Hall. Did not expect it but was blown away.

I was just reminded of another of my favorite concert memories. Back in 2013 I saw a three act concert at Fraze Pavillion in Kettering Ohio. Rick Derringer, The Edgar Winter Group, and Johnny Winter.

The amazing part was Johnny Winter. Dude was frail, nearly 100% blind, and could barely walk. He was helped to a chair at the front of the stage. A stage hand and a guitar tech took at least a full minute to get him situated and ready to play. I kept thinking the show would suck, and he would perform like an old sickly man, not the brilliant guitarist I had appreciated for many years. He then proceeded to shred like few guitarists I’ve ever seen or heard. I spent the next 45 minutes in Blues-Rock guitar heaven. He was phenomenal! Blew me and the rest of the crowd away.

I saw GnR at Yum. Axl's voice was bloody awful. Slash was awesome.

I was at that one as well. Axl’s voice has been cooked since the mid 90s. He sounds like Mickey Mouse on the high notes. I’ve seen the reunion thing three times. He gets better as the show goes on, but isn’t close to his prime.

Did he moonwalk while drinking a Pepsi ? Big if true.

Would have loved to have seen Michael Jackson / Prince back in the day.

He was an amazing entertainer. I was dragged there by females.....but was totally amazed and glad that I went. One of those epic entertainers and shows that I wish we had cell phone video to record.

One last entry to this thread. I had 2+ hours of great enjoyment watching the finest collection of musical talent I’ve ever seen. It was 2006 at Riverbend in Cincinnati. The Allman Brothers Band. Freaking incredible, start to finish.

Gregg Allman – Hammond B-3 organ, piano, vocals.
Warren Haynes – lead guitar, vocals.
Derek Trucks – slide guitar.
Oteil Burbridge – bass.
Butch Trucks – drums.
Jaimoe – drums.
Marc Quiñones – congas, percussion, vocals.

Pink Floyd, didn't have a ticket, went to Rupp Arena, I think it was in '87. Got 3rd row for $20. Was amazing.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers at Louisville Gardens, it was his opening show for that tour.
Saw John Fogerty at Louisville Palace, he played for a about 3 hours straight and at one point brought out his amp and said, "I know this amp looks old, but I'm kind of partial to it. I had it with me at Woodstock."
Todd Snider, basement of St. Francis of Assisi, Louisville, KY.
John Prine, Louisville Palace
Bruce Springsteen, Louisville Palace
Off top of my head, best concerts I've attend.

I saw Tim Finn at St. Francis of Assisi.
I also saw Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at McCauley Theatre in 1975, with The Dave Brubeck Quartet opening.

Just a couple of summers ago, I saw Brian Setzer at Chautauqua Theater in Boulder (maybe 800 seats, all of them good). As a guitar player, it was incredible. Certainly knew many of the songs (Stray Cats, et al) and the man can burn up a hollow body guitar like very, very few are able to do so. Great concert.

Stones at Rupp in '81 was fantastic.
First time I saw REM at Memorial Coliseum in '82 ('83?) - didn't know much about them, had a 13th row seat and they were great.

When Robert Plant croaked "dOEs aNyOnE rEMeMbeR laUGhTer?" and then shit his pants on stage.

Shortly thereafter, rock 'n roll died, and the world went and got itself in a big damn hurry.

I've seen a lot of shows but STP at Louisville Gardens around 97 stands out. After a solid hour plus they leave the stage. The encore was the entire Mtv Unplugged set. Decor and all. Absolutely fabulous.

I was there. One of my Top 5 shows of all-time too. What a frontman Scott was. Started in that 3-piece suit and ended up in just the pants I think. What a great night.

I love all genres of music, but Garth Brooks puts on a hell of a show the many times I've seen him.

I've seen Dave Matthews Band 50+ times ... they played Piedmont Park in Atlanta in 2007 and the Allman Brothers opened and guested with them. That was pretty memorable for me.

Wish I could have seen Queen.

Great show for sure and Weiland was a great frontman. I still crank STP as well as many other 90s bands. Seen Garth and DMB a few times each and all the shows were amazing. Used to be a HUGE DMB fan. I like their older stuff better. Before These Crowded Streets is their best album imo.

The Brady Center in Cincinnati is a really good place for a concert. Holds about 4k with the floor being standing and 2 balconies. Even in the last row of the 2nd balcony is not very far away.

I purchased tickets for his return tour. My wife couldn't make it that night so I took my 14 year old daughter who wasn't a fan but went because I had the ticket. She left a Garth Brooks fan.

My all time best concert moment happened in Oakland, CA circa 1985, when I was forced (by my wife) to attend a Springsteen concert. Anyway, the best moment happened when it was over. It was the longest two weeks of my life.

I went to .38 special and Bad Company concert. The concert was really good but I have never seen so many women showing their boobs in my life. It was awesome for a 17 yo kid to be listening to those 2 legendary bands just rocking out and chicks were just flashing every couple of minutes. LOL.

57th anniversary of the original Monterey Pop festival next week. More iconic acts than Woodstock.

Wish I remembered them more but I was at Buffets first Cincinnati concert with my parents in 1984. Then went with them to Wings concert in 1989.

Other than the above:

° Coldplay- Brown Theatre in Louisville, front rows in 2003

° Blink 182- Riverbend 2001, my friend caught Tom DeLonges guitar, she gave me a string, lol

° Radiohead- Cleveland 2003

° Tom Petty- Riverbend 2010?

° Steely Dan and Steve Winwood, Riverbend 2017?

° Pilgrimage Festival- 2019, Foo Fighters, Killers, Live, others

° Taking my parents to Doobie Brothers with Steve Winwood in August...looking forward to that one

We hardly go to concerts anymore. Too many kids and growing tired of local venues. Plus I'm playing the same tunes I have been for 25 years.

Great show. We just got home from the parking lot yesterday. That’s what I remember.

I saw Tim Finn at St. Francis of Assisi.

I saw Crowded House at the Beacon Theater, NYC. Woodface tour. Just a great show. 1990 maybe.

Metallica’s performance at the 1991 Monsters of Rock Tour at Tushino Airfield in Moscow. An estimated 1.6 million in attendance with armed Soviet military roaming and helicopter flyovers attempting crowd control. The video looks insane . . . soldiers shedding military gear to headbang and mosh during Metallica’s set.
