I recently got the Nectar queen for $799 (usually around $1200 I think) and absolutely love it. I will say this, it's a bit firmer than advertised.

Current deal also comes with 2 pillows and a really nice set of sheets. It also comes with a 365 day trial period which is longer than any other brand I researched.

Edited to add: I got this mattress because I'm a side sleeper and it's perfect for that.

Try the new Serta Vortex mattress. Surprised this one hasn’t been posted

I don't know if anyone has used one lately, but I've been intrigued with trying out a waterbed again for the first time in over 20 years. I went in a hot tub store a couple years ago and they had some on display. They seemed way more comfortable and with a lot less movement than the ones of the past. Plus I imagine they are much cooler to sleep on than current styles of mattresses. I am a hot sleeper and I'd love a cool bed to sleep in. Anyone actually slept on one in recent years?

I researched the shit out of mattresses earlier this summer. It's tough finding legit reviews since most of the review sites get kickbacks from the companies.

These guys do a good job and also have an informative YouTube channel.

I've got a jacked-up shoulder from sleeping on a plush bed for a few years (I'm a stomach sleeper primarily) and decided I didn't want any "sinking" feeling from my next mattress. I ended up buying a Winkbed. It was a little on the pricier side than I planned but figured I shouldn't skimp. I'm middle-aged and already slowly breaking down. No need to get something else my body doesn't like. I've had it about a month and really like it. Hope it holds up. My last two mattresses got dips in the middle after 3-4 years. I'm a little overweight but I'm chalking it up to buying them at outlet stores and having a shitty box spring that should've been thrown out long ago.

Think basically it comes down to whether you want a foam feeling or not then go from there. I was leaning toward foam for awhile but decided I wanted an innerspring hybrid for more support.

If you buy from a brick and mortar store, don't be shy about bartering. There's a shit ton of markup in the retail mattress game, apparently.

Three years ago wifey and I went shopping for new mattress and box springs. We started at Mattress Firm. After checking out several makes and models (it definitely helps to actually lay on them), we were fairly set on a Serta hybrid mattress, springs on the bottom, foam on top. That item was priced at $2400, on "sale" for $2200. After a little back-and-forth with the sales guy we got down to $1600. Wife and I had greed beforehand that we would not pull the trigger on the first visit. We left with the guy's card and his written agreement on $1600, and told him we were going to continue shopping elsewhere. We then hit a nearby mall and checked a few stores. Could not find anything we liked as much as the Serta, so we went back to Mattress Firm. When the salesman saw us enter the store he immediately greeted us, and had the store manager with him. A half an hour later we had purchased the mattress we wanted for $1200, plus free delivery, plus free mattress cover, plus two free queen-sized pillows that were marked $50 each.

Just switched from an old pillow top mattress to a firm memory foam. It’s an ashley furniture model, but not the same one posted earlier. We actually inherited it from my fiancé’s parents, but it was less than a year old. They bought it for their lake house and then ended up selling the lake house so we got the barely used mattress out of it. We added an additional foam topper to it. Now my lower back is sore from it. I’m not sure if that’s actually a good sore or not because the old mattress had a lot of give so I’m hoping the soreness is from actually being forced to sleep straighter. Could be wrong, but hoping the pain doesn’t last. Been about a week now since we put it on.

I got an original purple mattress a couple years ago and it’s the best money I’ve ever spent.

After doing a lot of research, I went with a foam mattress from Tuft & Needle. I love it. It does not have pressure points like a spring mattress and doesn't get hot. It's delivered to your door and you get a 100 day trial period. If you don't like it they will come and take it back. The company was acquired by Serta Simmons (one of the largest mattress makers) few years back. Regular price for a queen is $600 but they run 10-15% off sales all the time.

I have the seat cushion and it’s amazing. But it’s a good $400-500 over what I want to spend for a mattress. Is it worth that extra money? And what makes it stand out vs the competition?

I can't speak to the competition, although I read several good reviews of similar beds like Casper, Leesa, etc... prior to my purchase. I can absolutely testify though, that I have zero complaints with the purple. It is firm (personally I like a firmer mattress), yet very forgiving and comfortable. As crazy as it sounds, it's "soft" yet "firm," for lack of a better description. Since I purchased mine, purple has come out with different models which have varying thicknesses of the top layer (the thicker the top layer the softer it feels). However, these models are even more pricey. I have the original and have no complaints with how it feels. Additionally, it transmits basically zero motion to the wifey's side of the bed. I can flip and flop and she never knows. This is a huge advantage for me lol. Finally, it also has (as best I can remember) a 90-day no-questions-asked return policy -- actually, I think most of the mail-order mattress brands have this as well.

In sum, knowing what I know now, I have zero regrets and would definitely purchase it again. Good luck man.

My rec is the Amazon memory foam which I currently use or the Zinus memory foam I used to have and gave to my kid. It's the best compromise for us.

I have family that bought a sleep number. They like it but it looks like a nightmare to me. I've never been able to sleep on an air mattress without serious back pain. Anyone here using one?

I recommend the Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress, Tuft & Needle Original Mattress, Signature Sleep Memoir Memory Foam Mattress, or the Lucid 10-inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress. All of these should provide good support for your lower back and hips, especially for side sleeping, and fit within your budget.

Hey @nihomox , do you still have urges to molest farm animals, or did the court-mandated therapy help you?
