Begok

Imagine batting against Gibson expecting a heater at your skull only to see it drop across the plate.

The man was a beast.
Bob was super serious. Willie Mays loved to talk. Once Bob was taking BP and Mays came to the cage trying to converse with Bob. Bob told him to shut up and leave him alone. Mays continued to chatter. The first pitch Mays saw in the game broke a rib.

Probably assault these days
Stan Musial story. Stan was a rookie fresh up from the minors. In those
days, there were no batting helmets. Van Mungo was pitching for the Dodgers. He threw very hard and was notorious as a head hunter. his first two pitches were high and tight. Musial tripled on the next pitch. The umpire hollered at Mungo, "Hey Van, you sure scared the he'll out of that kid, didn't you?"

Almost page 3 no way. Long live Begok amirite?

Let me introduce Tommy Edman, my favorite player. St. Louis always finding those diamonds. He’s leading for the gold glove yet again, and his bat is old school. He’s a true baseball player. Came up from college a Cardinal, played for the Memphis Red birds in minor league, now a STL Cardinal. He will retire in the uniform. If you haven’t paid attention to him might want to start. After taking over and becoming the best defensive second baseman in baseball he’s willing to become a short stop so we can bring Gorman up who’s a killer. He hits everywhere on the field don’t bother shifting. 3-5 yesterday, 2 doubles, 3 RBI’s.

I agree. I expect the switch to shortstop within the next few weeks. Gorman at second has been in the works for over a year. I look forward to the change.

OT Bernie Carbo! He played for Big Red Machine years ago, kind of random user name. He wasn't a star by any means. Do you have personal connection with him? Just curious

The Judge ! Next World Series Champion!

Very nice what he did for that kid. The contrast between baseball players and NBA players has never been more alarming.

I’m a bit different in that I’ve always had a soft spot for the Yankees. It’s really about the players. My dad brought me up on Maris and Mantle, wore number 7 a lot growing up for Mantle. Mantle, Musial, and Maris were his guys so it is what it is.

But the Cards are the best in baseball history IMO because we did it small market. Pretty amazing what we’ve amassed being a small city in Missouri.

Have you ever wondered what the fate of baseball would have been in Montreal without the strike? That 94 team was loaded. The Reds were atop their division as well when it happened.

To be honest since the 90’s and the baseball strike I haven’t kept up with it like did. I kept up with Griffey Jr and once he retired I kind of retired and Judge is about the only Yankee I could tell you about to be honest lol. I honestly just keep up with all UK sports and US National Soccer teams. I just like to mess with you a little @Gromcat. I used to love professional sports and Packers, Yankees, and Magic were my professional teams. I still follow those teams but just not closely.

Used to love Will Cordero. He signed a lot for me as a kid in the St. Louis Hilton downtown. For some reason we went a lot in the 90’s to see the cards play the Expos.

Still wish they had left them alone. Can’t get into the nationals at all.

It’s off season on a CCB thread. Might as well have a thread that doesn’t make sense. We are the only fans in the country still checking out a CBB message board about this period.

No. The day I signed up, I had read an article about him, so I just used the name. He also played for the Cardinals.

I just put 20 across on the Japanese horse Crown Pride. If my history is an indicator stay away from that one.

Afternoon Begokers.

Be headed to St. Louis to see my boys clinch against the Minnesota Wild. Up 3-2 in the series. Blues are really turning out to be a stud franchise. Been a huge fan since the Hull and Gretzky days. Anyone fed up with sports might want to give Hockey a try. The guys still play for pride and matchups like the Wild and Blues are excellent. I ignore the NBA and focus on Hockey nowadays.

GO BLUES!!!

Vladimir Tarasenko by far my favorite. Bad man.

Never could get into hockey. Not sure why. We used to have a semi pro team called the Louisville Icehawks and the games were a blast to attend.

Matt Williams was gonna break Maris HR record most likely and I don’t think he was ever implicated in the PED scandal

I think it’s hard to get into for us in the southern regions but being a kid hockey got huge in the 90’s because of the mighty ducks movies. We’d rollerblade all day in our hockey jerseys and play street hockey.

Find a team you can get into (the Blues are a fantastic choice) and stick with it for a while. Once you get into rhythm it can sometimes stick with you.

Hockey games, to me, are the funnest events. That also helps. We sat center ice for 100 bucks for the 2019 Stanley cup. It’s not priced out of the world.

What I love about it is simply the outside world doesn’t seem to interfere as much like it has in basketball. Little grievance, still a mans sport, and they play for pride. Orielly on the Blues is the biggest contract and I think it’s 6 mill. Lots of guys don’t even make a million per.

Minor league hockey has some of the coolest/weirdest jerseys. The old Lexington Thoroughblades logo was trip

Man that’s awesome. I wish I could get ahold of some of these. Wonder if they ever make it to eBay.

I’d imagine it pops up from time to time. My buddy still rocks a Thoroughblades shirt. He also coaches HS hockey back in KY and after the season a parent gifted him a 93-94 (I think) poster of the River Frogs. It gave us a good laugh to see that frog logo again, and it was clearly something just sitting around in a basement or attic.
