Battle for the Beer Barrel

No, it's a legit question. Go to Volnation and you will see a thread dedicated to that subject. Volnation around 95% in favor of bringing it back. I wanted to know what BBN thought so I thought I would ask.

Kentucky has had the most success against us in the last decade since the late 70's early 80's and I still wanted the trophy game back.

Please see response 1

Yes, I usually browse the opposing team (tiger dropping, swamp gas, dawg vent or Dawg post, vandymania) forum the week of the game to gauge the state of the team and fan base. I very rarely post but I wanted to know if BBN had any interest in bring back the Barrel since around 75%+ of Wildcat Lair posters i have saw are confident of Kentucky winning. If Kentucky was having a down year then I think it would be a mute point and frankly smug to ask but you guys are not so I thought I would ask.

I am here in good faith. I have the utmost respect for Kentucky. I was here in 2015 for the Tennessee Kentucky game. Loved Commonwealth, its a beautiful stadium. The Catwalk was cool, got to see Towles and Stoops. I tailgated with my cousin who is a huge Kentucky fan right beside the stadium, that was awesome. I even got to strike of a conversation with a former Kentucky player from the 80's.

Again not trying to be a dick just asking a question and trying to start up a conversation
I believe you are way off about the 75% of Wildcat Liar posters being “confident “ of a win . Maybe a lot of us think it’s possible. Or we may talk about our strengths vs Tennessees weaknesses. But saying we are “confident “ is wrong.

Dude is full of ****, period. 75%+ of us “confident in a win?” We want to win, we are DYING for a win, but under truth serum my guess is it’s more like 25% actually expect it.

They can all get ****ed on their way back to Vol Nation as far as I’m concerned. And yes, I live in Tennessee.

Have lived within 20 miles of the Tennessee border all my life, 62 years. Never smelled nothing but beer on their breath. They don’t want no bourbon barrel lol. They’d serve it with bratwurst.

Honestly, I’d want it to stay gone too if I didn’t there was a chance of it returning to my team anytime soon.

Weird how this is brought back by pumpkin orange when it looks like they may be on the brink of national prominence again.

It’s one year and they’ve got a quarterback who’s been with the team since the Shuler years. They’re not back to national prominence lol.

Lol at a few of these UK fans taking up for UT. You’ll regret that soon enough. Worst fan base in the country hands down. Criminal teams. Known for disgusting tactics like selling their daughters for recruits (real shit).

If defending them is important to you, you can go screw your self too. How about that?

Just call it”The Barrel” if Mitch is so sensitive to alcohol relation. We all know that it use to be the best barrel and that whiskey/Bourbon is made in barrels

We had a bourbon barrel game with Indiana 1987-1999. That trophy was retired the same time the beer barrel was. It was fun when we beat them but unfortunately the series ended with them one game ahead.

Man. Tennessee is hated by everyone. Lol. Some say they are our biggest rival. They are not. We just hate their win at all cost, cheating mentality by their administration and fan base. We also hate going to their stadium and being treated so badly it’s no fun to be there. Rival??? No. Scum program and fan base is where the hate comes from. Everyone hates a cheater and a sore loser. Just a fact. You can bet your ass some fans will have golf balls in their pockets just in case we upset them.

Hello Wildcat faithfull, Vol fan here. Vol Nation has been having a discussion on wanting to bring back the Beer Barrel Trophy. I was wanting to get Kentucky's fans take on it. I know it was retired before the 98 game due to the deaths of 2 people that were involved in an alcohol related car crash with 1 being Tim Couch's best friend (I might be a little wrong on the details.) Would you Kentucky fans want to bring the Barrel back or leave it retired? Thanks for the input. Hope we have a great game and Go Big 🍊.
Your program is trash. Not a worst college fan base.

Isn’t that the truth? It’s like Shakespeare’s, methinks thou dost protest too much

stay away from the juvenile name-calling. If you really analyze it, I think the only way to beat Tennessee is just blitz the crap out of them.
Yes, long time consuming drives would help us,
But their rushing defense is pretty damn good. T. They’re passing. Defense is horrible. But they manage a fair number of sacks per game and with our leaky offensive line, passing can be perilous.
they are the fastest team in football, and we are one of the slowest in terms of plays per minute
Your username, lmao !

I say bring it back. It is one of the coolest rivalry trophies out there. I think fans of both sides want to get this rivalry back to where it is. Lately the games have been a dead heat. Why not have a kickass trophy?

There is one a little west of Lexington that is probably equal , if not worse . Too close to call . They have so many similarities.
The only thing worse than IU fans when they have a good basketball team is UT football fans when they have a good football team. The only reason I don't put U of L fans in there is because they at least know when they suck and just don't watch their team but UT football and IU basketball fans are too dumb to not talk trash when they suck.

It would be neat to have some trophy or barrel to play over, though something related to alcohol is not the best to use. Something that both states are known for (music related, horses, tobacco, etc) would work.

How about a banjo. Decorate it half blue, half orange. Kentucky home of Bluegrass music and Tennessee home of Country music

The barrel itself had nothing to do with the accident. If we removed all things from society following every accident we would literally have nothing left.
I don't really have a strong opinion on the trophy, but what I do remember is Fat Phil running the score up like a lard-filled douchebag late in the game when it was clear the UK players were clearly not "up" for the game. I didn't like him before, but that move proved beyond doubt he was a soulless sack of crap.
