It’s obvious that Barny has no pull with the NCAA if he can’t do what most AD would do if they had a player in school who can’t play.

For whatever goofy NCAA reason.
I think whatever he makes should be questioned if he just sits on his hands and does nothing. We the fans need get his ass involved or call it out. He does way to much hiding in his office.

Go for it, man. Lead it like you led this thread. Call the office and let them know that you know what they know and that you know that Mitch knows what he needs to know and that taking no for an answer about Big Z is no way to go, ya know?

Get barking!

Barney is obviously a member of the deep state and illuminati and hates UK.

Dude said most ADs when he couldn’t name 5 other AD’s without looking it up if his life depended on it. Him calling the NCAA should work out the same as the 57 times he and his kind were gonna have Barnhart fired.

I really don’t think this his has anything to do with money. I think it could be amateur status. Imagine if Lebron went to the NBA out of high school and played for the Cavaliers and they paid him a couple hundred a week. Then the next year Lebron decides he missed out on college and wanted to come back to college. Apparently Z played in a pro league and if they let him come back to school and be an amateur then the NCAA is afraid it will open a precedent. Just my guess.

bullshit. We have high school kids making 6 figures in NIl in some places. Amateurism is dead..

I agree with you but it has to be about Amateurism because I can’t be about the money. I know high school football players in Kentucky that were making more than they claim Z made. We all know this is truly another NCAA vs Cal (UK) vendetta.

I hope they come out and say it’s over amateurism so they get so much hate mail

Should have already had a restraining order in place. When an accused rapist can rejoin his team there is no reason in this world why Z can’t be made eligible. I’m not one to push conspiracies but 5 months without so much as a whisper is beyond ridiculous. I say tomorrow just roll him off the bench and tell the NcAA to kiss your ass.

You all kill me sometimes 🤣

I don’t agree with every decision Mitch makes. Been in his company a number of times. He’s a quiet, reserved guy. He’s also very thoughtful. I’ve seen this guy personally get on his hands and knees to clean and serve this university and its sports programs. Maybe his personality is why people lose their bleep… thinking that means he’s some passive sissy who does nothing for athletes.

Let me give you a hard to swallow truth… at least for some of you:
Nobody has done for UK athletics and its athletes than Mitch Barnhart… ever!

Do you all not understand where UK athletics was at when he arrived in 2002? It’s unreal the hate from some.

More success under multiple sports programs than any time in UK’s history over his tenure here… fact!

He has built more.

He has improved facilities more.

He has more successful coaches than not… granted some dud hires for sure but look at the overall track record.

The guy just can’t win with some of you.

He needs to pick up the phone and make a call and ask a question, “Is he going to be cleared”?
Answer either yes or no.

Interesting that the only responses so far are in defense of Barnhart. Definitely would have lost that bet with how he’s handled things the last few years.
Shows just how dumb some people are when it comes to UK sports. At the NCAA , Barney is the face of UK. Think about that for a minute.

There is a big difference in getting NIL money and getting paid for playing basketball. Amateur status does not mean that a kid is not allowed to make money. Plenty of kids have actual jobs. It just means you can't be paid to be a professional athlete in the sport you play in the NCAA.

I don’t think all the criticisms of Barnhart are unfair, particularly when it comes to the contracts he’s given certain coaches, but in this case I’m not really sure what people think he should be doing that he isn’t. The situation is frustrating to be sure, but there’s not some kind of secret mechanism that AD’s have at their disposal to force the NCAA into ruling in their favor on an eligibility dispute. I doubt having another person in his position would have changed anything about this ordeal.

Why does that appear to be the case? Do you have any idea what all Barnhart has done or how many calls he has made?
Do you? I mean, there’s guys all over college ball that made NIL in HS. Also, foreign players that were paid to play and they’re eligible. Why can’t we get our guy eligible? Hell, never mind that. Why can’t we even so much as get an answer, a yes or no?!

What foreign players are eligible that were paid to play basketball? There are some that went to institutions.
