Thank you.

You're my favorite.

You're so intelligent. You're Grandfather Albert Einstein must be so proud of you.

I'm sure he's watching those exciting Playoff games with his pants around his ankles in heaven.

This has been asked and answered a thousand times, but there is a difference between being ready to play college basketball, and being ready to play for a top 10 team, midseason, in the heat of a conference race.

There's also a difference between entering the NBA draft, and being ready to play in the NBA.

Lots of players enter the draft every year in the hopes that some team will think enough of their potential to call their name and write them a check.

They then go through months of workouts, training camp, and the preseason.

After all of that, many still aren't ready for the NBA. So they sit on the end of the bench, or go to the D-League.

This whole..."how could Diallo not be ready for college but be ready for the NBA" diatribe is just more whiny nonsense.

I, well no, Pilgrim doesn't deserve any derision, certainly Kanter doesn't, see two categories. H D is being viewed terribly. I went to Centre and UK twice. I never had a view of bettering Centre or UK( that said, I believe I behaved responsibly and was awarded multiple sport acolades and academic acolades at UK). Point is pretty simple; you simple minded fools expecting a player, regardless( notice, I didn't say irregardless) of their circumstances to put a school before their personal or families well being, are simpke minded fools. To generalize, likely half of this board lives at or around the poverty level-if your family or you personally were offered a major life change, would you tout school loyalty? I think not. We are not in HDs shoes, don't try to walk in them, they likely don't fit.

Thanks, Francis. I didn't understand your rant but I think you missed the WHOLE point..... and also reading comprehension is your friend!

There was zero "derision" at ANY player that I mentioned! I was stating the player who has been the best (NBA: Free Enes) since we did not get to see any of them actually play in a UK game. But nice attempt though and thanks for playing.

Also, FYI: "accolades" and "simple".:victory:

I do like the virtue signaling and the "concern" over someone else becoming millionaires. We are fans of Kentucky. I couldn't care less about someone making money but it's somehow "selfish" if I don't pretend to be hellbent on getting other people rich.

It's okay for players to have their own interests but not fans?

Outstanding question and I think the answer is obvious...the kid never had any intentions of suiting up for us.
And if it ever comes to light that Calipari was in on this for the sake of 'sending another kid to the NBA', then I hope John's head is on a pike.

There are so many people here who have had their precious little feelings hurt because some poor kid might not provide them one year of free entertainment.

That's really something.

Sfbs, reading comprehension is your problem. My post isn't directed to you. You are amongst the selfish, inanane, the college athlete plays for me fool who I referenced, but I'm glad you read. Or did someone sound it out for you. So, carry on, tweedle brain, and when/if you have a post of value(that you think is worthy), shove it up your a$$. Good day to you jacka$$.

To further the point, if you didn't understand my post, you're dumb, plain and simple. But let me splain it to you simpleton. I went to one of the best liberal arts colleges on an academic scholarship. I went there, over athletic scholarships to UK, Xavier, for the greater academics. I used the college for my personal gain. I received my B.S. and proceeded to UK for my doctorate. Then, after matching to UK( this is beyond your pay grade), I accepted a position at UK for my post doc becauses it was one of the best and was paid(I made about 38k a year as opposed to paying that much to 60k a year-math too hard, have Simon at the quickie mart explain it). I used the schools I went to for my benefit. Every student attends a school, whether it be for academics, training, sports, for their benefit- not the schools. Don't understand this rant, get your 4 year old to read it to you 5x, then ask an adult.

I don't want Diallo.

He's not a Cat.

He's basically Daniel Orton. He screwed the program by not finishing the semester.

Diallo is not much different. Good luck and adios.

Better off without him.

It's just stupid.

The NBA is a joke.

Kev, if for some reason (not likely it seems), the kid does come back and was simply getting advice, you need to make a big apology and self ban for a month.

Kid isn't gone yet and hasnt signed with an agent, you are probably right that he stays, but these comments are way too premature and just encourages the real trolls that have littered the boards the last few days.

Not sure where you get from my post that Diallo hurt UK in any way. I was not trying to imply that.
What did UK get out this is where I am coming from. Seems the kid gained more than the team did.
Players first? In order for this to apply, then he first must be a UK player the way I see it.
Just can't understand how he was not ready to participate in a game but he could do so in practice. More practice time to get ready then ordinary freshmen.
Sorry my post was long, just built up frustration with the situation.

Read the fine print, it was the player who did not want to play this year.

Precious little feelings hurt? Poor kid? Free entertainment? Well, at least your last sentence was spot on….you comment is “really something”.

My feelings are anything but little for our team. Don’t look now, but whether Diallo stays or goes, he will be hardly be poor. Not sure how much you pay for your tickets, but mine aint free.

I take pride in our basketball program and if anyone player thinks he’s bigger than the UK heritage, it’s darn insulting. I’ve accepted the one and done, but cannot, will not accept the none and done.

You spelled because "becauses" to be ironic? Why don't you "splain" how that works? How about those 5 grammatical/spelling errors you made in a single post in the Diallo hypocrisy thread? You know, the one where you were trying to degrade the intelligence and education of everyone else on this board only to have it fail miserably?

So, let me get this straight. You claim to be a highly educated, intelligent doctor? Yet you're on a message board constantly arguing with people, whom you claim are of far inferior intelligence to you. Furthermore, you also claim to be vastly more educated than any of them, yet you're taking all this time out of your day(s) to argue repeatedly with them. Not only that, but you also repeatedly feel the need to put down their grammar and spelling, while you repeatedly make those same errors. So I call BS on your claims of earning a doctorate and great educational background. First off, if you're that smart you wouldn't have to try to convince everyone else of it, it would be pretty self-evident. Secondly, I can not honestly imagine anyone that smart would feel the need to post on an over-the-top message board with people that you clearly feel more superior than. Let alone argue with those same people you constantly degrade and belittle. Wouldn't that kind of put you on their level? However, your little fable has provided me with some comedic relief and entertainment, so feel free to continue it.

Let me "splain" something to you and sorry to burst your bubble "Francis"....................Ivy League; too soon. You just made my "SWAMP IGNORE" list.

Just some observations, take them as you will

  • You are displaying some classic symptoms of overcompensation. The constant need to hurl insults at others, the name dropping of "prestigious" colleges you have (allegedly) attended, lauding your (again, alleged) academic accomplishments, your tendency to punctuate your points with sophomoric slurs, and your obscene over-reliance on the ad hominem all point toward the actions of someone who gets self-esteem on the cheap by attempting to demean others. Your writing suggest someone who has the wherewithal to employ the thesaurus in an effort to sound esoteric, but it also shows that you have a feeble, almost childlike grasp of grammar, sentence structure, and rhetoric. (Even your chosen screen name is a slur; think about that).
  • Your situation is hardly rare. Overcompensation usually stems from some type of perceived inadequacy, be it social, intellectual, or physical. Your obsession with lording your athletic and academic "history" over people you don't even know suggest that you have feelings of both physical and intellectual inadequacy. I can tell by the quality--or lack thereof--of your writing that you have some intellectual shortcomings. It make sense that someone with rudimentary communication skills would resort to bluster and malice in the written word. As for your physical shortcomings, who knows? Men that get into imaginary competitions with other men are looking for easy victories to bolster their flagging sense of masculinity. Has your physical impotence morphed into social impotence?
  • What ever your issue is--be it an over-nurturing mother, an emotionally distant father, a secret, sexual pang for they guy you car pool with, or just some ex-girlfriend that mentally castrated you--get help! Think about it: you are arguing with a bunch of guys who literally have no idea who you are. There are no victories here, not real ones anyway. Turn off your monitor, walk away from the computer, and reevaluate why you feel the need to trash people you don't even know. I'm sure there are plenty of good therapists in your area: use one.

You definitely do not possess a doctorate if that's the type of language you use. What point did you make?

As for the Diallo situation:

  • If Diallo can show up for a semester, get a (taxpayer funded) tour of the NCAA tournament, NBA level practices, and free counseling on how to get to the NBA, more power to him. It's hard to ask an 18 year old to pass up an offer like that. The question is whether or not UK should have footed the bill.
  • In this particular partnership, Diallo got a lots of perks and UK got. . .what exactly? Well, used, is what they got.
  • If Diallo pulled a fast one one on us, then file this one under "fool me once". If Calipari actively engaged in this charade, then I have real issues with his behavior. His job is to win games and championships for the University of Kentucky. If he gets kids into the NBA on top of that, then that's just peachy. If he saw to the needs of Diallo before the needs of UK, then he has acted in dereliction of his duties as UK coach.

Cal knew there was a chance he would stay in the draft (still to be determined) and knew that he would at least test it (that was part of the arrangement discussed when he signed with UK)

At least some of y'all will get to see him play 5 on 5 during the scrimmage portions of the combine

So, say he does get drafted this year and never playes for UK, but if he donates a semesters tuition back to UK or comes and supports/participates in things that raise money for the school or community, would it suffice you all who are against him currently?

I'm not "against him," per se but I need to see that there is some benefit for UK in this situation.

There honestly won't be any real benefit if he leaves now. However, aside from the funds that were used for his scholarship there really isn't a loss to UK. And truthfully, that's not even a real loss. Sure, we won't have him on the team and we hoped to, but, even though unlikely, he could have been a flop or of little value next year because of various other factors. I'm in the category of hoping he does stay and wanting him to be great for us next year, but also completely understand his situation and understand if he leaves to make a couple million. I just don't see how people have any real justification for getting mad at the kid for achieving his goals ahead of what was expected by others. That's really what college is for anyway, it's preparing you for the future and being as successful as possible. I can't imagine admonishing someone for dropping out of school for achieving that job ahead of time, why do we for sports athletes going pro? I honestly can't think of one unselfish reason why any rational person should be upset if he elects to leave. The money for that scholarship wasn't provided by anybody on this board and wouldn't have gone to anyone or anything had he not used it. To me that's not really justification to be upset.

Glad Hami got an invite. Hate to think all of this hand wringing was for nothing and this way he gets the feedback he needs to make the right decision on his future.
I'm glad too. I'm so happy I wish we could just have recruits say they commited to UK but never come and they wait a year and get millions, meanwhile we get tubby esque recruiting classes and barely make the tourney because it's all about them, who cares about some fat unrealistic white slob fan that pays to support this program and pay to see titles, that douche loser is last, players first that is MY dream. It's all about them. I want them ALL to declare, could you imagine? We would be so popular and cool because recruits know they can come here, dick around get catered to, get plenty of white women strange, are worshipped, grown men hold up signed begging for them to sleep with their wives! Awesome! That's why we are the top program of all time! I love it! I'm right with you.
