Article Shows Brutality from Fans on Recruits' Social Media

I see what you're saying, but I'm a 36-year-old man. If I use the twatter or the BookFace to harass 18-year-olds who have a skill I'll never possess, I'm a worthless piece of crap and everyone who knows me should shun me from all gatherings because I take the sportsball - and likely myself - a tad bit too seriously.

Yep, same here. I've never contacted any player or recruit on twitter. I dont even see the point, I always figured they wouldnt read it anyway.

Ive managed to stay away from facebook all together. Cesspool of young mothers trying to play super mom of the world to their friends.

The last platform I used a lot was ICQ.

:)

ICQ. Nice.

I remember using it to talk to my rasslin' nerd friends about trading the latest ECW shows, and AOL to try to have cyber sex with chicks in chat rooms (who probably were crusty, creepy dudes pretending to be girls in a basement somewhere).

I had Facebook for a while and realized it was filled with morons, narcissists and drama queens - and that was just my extended family. I briefly used twitter and felt it did nothing but make the world dumber 140 characters at a time. Instagram, etc. is for youngins' and I don't understand.

Exactly, why should anyone(other than coaching staff) contact a recruit through social media, it's not like it's going to persuade them to choose UK.

What fans realize is that after they say these terrible things they never think.about what happens after the decision. If the player ended up being a lot worse than they expected. Maybe they caused problems at the school and for the team. Maybe their commitment elsewhere caused another player to come who was the missing piece to a great season. We have experienced that many times here. I was sad James Blackmon JR didn't commit, but id never trade Booker for him in hindsight.
