Arkansas fans

In a few years Arkansas fans will be singing Happy Trails to Cal. some of their fans act like they stole him from Kentucky, you can't steal something if someone wants to give it to you. Their fans might not admit it but some are already talking about it amongst themselves as to whether what Kentucky fans have been saying is true, it's true.
Reminds me of a funny story I read years ago...young couple get a new living room set, and their old couch (which was too good to throw away) didn't match. So they put the couch on the curb in front of their house w/ a sign reading "Free to a good home". Couch sits there for 3/4 days. Husband makes a new sign "Good couch. $20". The couch was gone the next morning.

Cal's the couch and arky fans think they've "stolen" something of value.

I think saying he got bored and lost some passion is over inflating Cals coaching. Almost like a genius kid that could get 100% in every class if he was more engaged. He had top 3 recruiting classes for almost 18 straight years and one championship and not even a number 1 seed in over 10 years. It’s an absurd amount of talent for a sport that is incredibly reliant on talent. I think a more accurate description is the game passed him by and he was unable to adapt to the new modern way the game is played and he’s essentially washed up. It happens more times then not.
I think it’s a simple as he relied on John Robic to do the hard stuff and he couldn’t find anyone else who was close when he abandoned him.

That’s an instant replay of lines he used at UK. Yeesh, the dude’s been coaching for over four decades and still acts like zones are some newfangled thing he hasn’t had a fair chance to prepare for yet.

He’s become an excuse machine.
No zone in the NBA. He will never practice against it. He ain't changing.

He seemed like a big, goofy kid. I’m afraid we’d get frustrated by his play this season had he stayed at Kentucky.
I like him too, but I don’t think he’s a good player.
Let's see him in a system like Pope's. I gurantee you he'd put up at least 10 a game. Remember, NBA scouts/GM's were saying Cal holds players back. Because his offense is putrid. Booker came off the bench at UK, came into the NBA and was putting up 20 a game almost instantly.

I think Cal is there 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 years. He will retire during a season so he can turn it over to Brad. I think he only went to Arkansas to further Brads career.
Arkansas is far from a blue blood but no way Brad gets a sniff at that job. Cal went to Arkansas due to several reasons but setting Brad up for HC at Arkansas? Impossible. Brad may eventually get a small college job.

Cal needs 2-3 top 5 guys to compete. if he had cooper flag along with everyone else they'd look better. problem is Cal loads up on 1 top 10 and 2 top 20 guys now. great recruiting still, but not enough to just win with talent.

I thought he turned a corner last year playing in Welch's wide open offense. We looked so good for a big chunk of the season then, of course, Cal had to go back to rock fights. The man can't get out of his own way.

On that note, I present to you…

Its amazing hearing him just regurgitating the same stuff. Youd think he somehow has less practice time than anyone else.

To keep track he somehow admits he doesn't have time to coach: zone offense, out of bounds offense, out of bounds defense. Thats just what i can recall off the top of my head.

Nevermind the fact his team's play indicates he doesn't really coach offense or team defense either. So what on earth does he coach?

Pretty amazing to see the difference without robic. Robic was really the coach all along and this guy was a salesman. Incredible.

The thing is, he did.
He won @Auburn. He won @UT. He demoralized Bama. He may lose in March but he thrives in a lot of these regular season games. And you know he’s extremely motivated for this one. It’s his all time Super Bowl.

I agree with you on a lot, and that stale offense he runs, but to be extremely confident is asking for it.
He was sub 500 since 2015 in top 25 regular season matchups and if memory serves me correct he was 1-9 in his last 10 before beating Bama and UT last year.

I’m too lazy to look up stats, but beating UT in Knoxville on senior day (again) is pretty impressive. Not to mention beating Pearl at Auburn last yr too. And don’t forget demolishing Bama. Those are all coaches that are seasoned vets with final four runs. And this wasn’t 10 yrs ago, it was 8 months ago with 3 of the same players.

I’m just saying, don’t be shocked if he comes to Rupp and beats us. He’s beaten better teams on the road. If he’s good at anything, it’s preparing for a game that he’s supposed to lose.

Alright Cal, we get it.

Don’t forget about that 2012 national championship either, fellow Kentucky fans!
