The whole "who else can we get" "well, it's better than it was" "it is was it is" approach many of you convey is the very reason UK is and always will be a basketball school. And I hope none of you were among those upset when Cal made that statement this summer, as you're confirming it's truth with those statements.
Then if we fire Stoops tomorrow, who does UK get that has us in the running for 10 wins a year?

Why would you want Meyer? He’d be here two to three years before his personal issues resurface. Realistically there’s nobody off hand that would do better. Stoops isn’t getting fired. He’ll have to leave on his own. If he does I’d call his brother Bob first and see if he’d have any interest at all in replacing his brother.

Bob Stoops coming here is about as unrealistic as meyer. Uk can't get a big name hire here. I'm fine with Stoops. I never expect us to win the SEC or a national title so he does as well as any realistic coach can with the limitations and playing n sec.

I was responding to your reference to Hooker. Plenty of blame to go around, but let’s not act like this is the most talented team we’ve had since Stoops has been here. Probably a few spots down the rankings honestly.
It is allegedly the most talented offense, at least it was supposed to be. It's awful. Defense isn't much better.

You are the epitome of why we haven’t succeeded until now. UK spent the 50 years prior to hiring Stoops doing exactly what you propose And it led to us being one of the worst programs in the SEC. You have no clue what you are talking about..
This doesn't make sense. We've had 10 coaches in the 70 years since Bryant. That's an average of 1 every 7 years. 2 of them retired from here, 1 left for a better job, and 2 were fired for scandals. Might want to learn our history, big guy!

I think he has done some positive things here, and I am honestly not just crapping on him, but he just isn't cutting it in big games and disappoints more often than not. While the OC is awful, he is also our 5th OC in 10 seasons and all but 1 of them sucked, too. At a certain point, it's not the OC but the HC who is the problem. Our D obviously isn't that good either and that is supposed to be Stoops strength.

While he has been an improvement over Joker, we also went to a bowl game just 1 season before we fired Joker and hired Stoops. And it took Stoops 5 years to get us back there.
You MUST be be able to OUTSCORE people in TODAY'S CFB. It's really that simple , yet Stoops is too stubborn to admit it!!!!!

I view Stoops similar to Marvin Lewis. I applaud him for getting us to this level. Not many could. Incredible job to do that. I don’t think he can get us over the hump. We will not contend with the top teams in this conference under Stoops. Can we do worse than Stoops? Absolutely. Can we do better? I think so. He’s built an incredible foundation. I just wish he’d be interested in having a modern day offense that was willing to score points.

If you want to move away from stoops you have to be the dumbest uk fan in history. He has taken us to games we haven’t played on back to back in history. Do I want more? Yes. But we are going to have to pay many dues to get there. If you watched the curry years or the joker years or many other years along the way you would know better. So shut the hell up and enjoy the wins as much as you bitch about the losses.
It's been 10 years. JH is in his second. SC coach in his first.

Based on what? We knew coming in this oline was spotty. The skill positions have promise but they’ve yet to show they deserved the hype, including Levis.

You are a complete idiot and a football moron if you vote to move on from Stoops. Stoops has built a program to be proud of. One that is respected and can challenge most teams in the SEC. Will they get to the top, I doubt it. But I have suffered the end of the Curci era, the Claiborne era, the Curry era, etc... It is nice to see good competitive football. We were not good tonight, but we have been very good the last 6 years. That is pretty good consistency for this program.

He’s also feasted on a weak SEC East.

How does that disprove my point? We went from coach to coach and never made any progress. We have a coach that wins more than any we have ever had and you want to go back to trying to find lightning in a bottle. Learn your history. It’s not easy to replace a good coach. UT struggled to do it after Phat retired. Alabama struggled for years. Texas has struggled for years. Florida is struggling. If you have any knowledge of college football you understand how hard it is to find an elite coach. Many programs go backwards when they lose a good coach, not forward. Again you have no clue.

The question is if you’re content with competing with Missouri, South Carolina and Florida for 3rd in the East. If you are then keep Stoops. If you aren’t, then it’s a conversation. I’d rather be 5th trying to be 1st or 2nd then content with losing by 3 TDs to Georgia and Tennessee and hoping to squeak by Florida. What if Florida figures it out? Then we’re playing for 4th. That’s not ok to me.

Doesn't matter what's ok with you or me or anyone on here. The facts are if uga, tn and Florida are at their best and "figure it out" it beats uks best all day and twice on Sunday the majority of the time.

Then welcome to the Mumme era and the Brooks era and the Phillips era.

I want to see us go to the next level stoops has the right idea he just needs the right oc. I think coen was a great fit Scangarello is not imo. Eddie gran too was terrible. Coen seemed to find that sweet spot between stoops ball control and a pro style offense. I thought Scangarello would be able to do it but I see a lot of jimmy g type stuff in his play calling.

I mean the discussion is if we as fans want to move on. Stoops has been great. Can he take us to the next level? That’s the question and debate at hand.

I don’t disagree but never hurts to reach out and ask. I’d take Bob over Urban any day of the week. No baggage. Bob is not all that old. He still could have a few good years in him sorta like Rich Brooks but with a better foundation to build off of.

No he cannot. My theory is no one can given the deeper pockets, better culture and history, and better players that about half the sec will always have an advantage over uk with.

Eddie Gran was a good OC that got screwed by the HC. Stoops screwed him (not on purpose) by the recruitment of QBs and philosophy. Gran fell on a sword for Stoops, that is why he is still receiving a nice paycheck from UK. Eddie had great success at UC before he got here. There is a pattern of this with OCs working for Stoops.

Lol, we didn't make progress? Several of those coaches all had good seasons. Brooks had us ranked in to top 7 in 2007.

Stoops has the most wins because he has been here the longest. Several others would have similar claims if they stayed a decade and played in a weak SEC east.

And they all kept making changes until they find the right hire. That's why they contend! Until we do similar, we sure aren't a football school.

We’re a basketball school with an average (to above average every few years) football program. We’re aren’t in the cellar with Vandy anymore. In a 12 team playoff, we could potentially make it with Stoops on occasion. I can live with that, even though I’d rather be a football school competing for nattys.
