Apologies, Butler will bounce back

If it was just this game I would be ok, but he hasn't had a great all around game in the last 3 or 4 games, I'm probably just being a whiny ass after he cost us the game but I'm concerned with him running the team right now.
All joking aside. The dude has been injured. This isn’t Cal’s boys. He didn’t wait till he was 100% healthy and the sun was shining and his draft stock was up. He came back as soon as he could. He is still hurting and he has been abused the last few games. I only said you’re a troll because of the post you made. The truth is Butler is a very good guard who is playing through some pain

They always tell you what part of Kentucky they are from and how long they've been a UK fan, lmao.
Think what you want to think, everyone who criticizes someone has to be a troll huh. Keep acting like you have been happy with the way he's been playing, just like Carr in the Alabama game if you being on the court is hurting the team then swallow your pride and don't play too the detriment of the team.

The only people that would say Butler is "unplayable" and that we will "lose in the 1st or 2nd round of the tournament" are trolls and unreasonable idiots IMO. Ignored, see ya.

What over the last couple of weeks makes anyone think we'll make a deep run, was Butler playable today should he have been put back in at the end of the game.

You do realize not long ago we entered league play. The league is historically great with good coaches. They have been studying film all year on UK. Making an injured player look worse and exploiting weakness is a regular thing in league play. Coaches aren’t dumb they know if someone has limitations.

JMHO but, the player that we missed most wasn't Butler at 100% as much as it was not having Carr. He's a difference maker in this game, where the opponent has no answer to him. Garrison was decent but not good and Williams was pretty bad in this game. Oweh led us in rebounds with 12, while nobody else had over 5 boards. Kinda in trouble if a 6'4" guard has twice as many rebounds as your bigs in a game where the opposing team's tallest player is 6'8" or 9. As a team, we beat them on the boards but not like we shoul've..by a long way. Our two 7 ftrs combined for 14 pts against a team without size. Any one of them plays at all or like they should/can, we win that game pretty comfortably...even with the unforced turnovers, which some wouldn't have even happened.

His defense has gotten worse and worse, and he's also not doing anything on offense either, our season will end in the first or second round of the tournament.
I know I'm probably too emotional right after a game and I probably shouldn't of made this post, so to the poster's I pissed off I apologize, I'm not a troll I was born in Erlanger raised in Grant county and now reside in Owenton, a lifelong fan who just gets too damn emotional about the games.

feel he is more hurt then they are saying
I feel like it's more like THIS ^^^^^

Injuries and being hurt, injured, leads to making mistakes. GOD knows that has always been the case for me. Whenever I got sick and or injured, I eventually became aware of how it affected my decision making as well as my performance in anything. I gotta think this is more of a valid viewpoint than anything else.

He's still the player he has always been, not the greatest, but certainly not the worst. And calling him UNPLAYABLE is just hogwash of the highest order. Get a grip, OP.

or waitaminute ...

maybe OP can walk on and take over for Point Guard and lead us to victory, displaying his heroic stout backbone and how legendary of a player he would be if he were out there.

I say GO FOR IT ! Prove me wrong !

Jeez

Takes a good man to admit he could be wrong, and to apologize here is respect of the highest order, for we eat our own here ! LOL !

I appreciate that. OP. And I was being a lil too harsh on you, admittedly so, I apologize likewise back to you.

I just learned a LONG time ago (for me, at least), especially on this board, that I should try to stay away from it in the immediate aftermath of losing these games. I usually was far too passionate and let my own emotional mindset dictate to me irrational fears. So these days, I just try to find some positives and roll better with the punches. It makes my life here much more enjoyable and fun !

I totally get it !

It'll be ok. We got your back ... even though it sometimes might not seem so !

Go Big Blue !

New poster long time lurker and I've already learned I'm not going to post anything until at least a day after a game, no hard feelings on my end just to emotional about our team.

It's all good ! I was the same way, long time lurker, before finally registering. You're a wiser poster than I was when I started out so long ago. I think it took me at least ten years or more before I could come here without having ALREADY jumped off a bridge somewhere ! LOL !

So a guy averaging 14 pts a game shooting 52% fg snd 40%3pt land with over 2 to 1 assist to turnover is unplayable?

As far as he defense…outside of Oweh…who holds a candle to Butler defense?

I truly don’t get this response off one bad game
Last 5 games:
20-50 40% FG
6-16 38% 3PT
13-19 68% FT
28 ASSISTS
15 TO'S
1.9 ASSIST/TO RATIO
13 FOULS (2.6 FOULS/GAME)
59 PTS (11.8 PTS/GAME)

In looking at his stats over on sports-reference.com, if I understand them correctly:

USG% 23 (almost as high as his freshman year), it explains why the offense hasn't flowed well when he's been in the game. I know that Amari said something to him yesterday on that play where Lamont drove too far under the basket where Amari was, leading to the ball going off Amari out of bounds. There was some exchange of words as Amari was trying to help Lamont get up off the floor.

DWS 0.7 the lowest of his career. He was better defensively as a freshman than he is now.

Lately he has been trying to make things happen by driving into the lane, but he hasn't been effective, either getting blocked by an opponent or by the rim or completely missing a layup. He needs to either drive and dish, or kick it back out to start a series of passes to get someone open. Defensively I think he's been pretty good at sealing off his man, but I think he gambles too much one-on-one and surprisingly (to me) doesn't jump the passing lanes that well.

Best lineup today would have been Robinson (PG), Oweh, Brea, Noah, Almonor.
You got it!!! That's exactly the lineup that should've been in there those last 5 mins. Not Williams or Butler. I have no problems with Perry either. His defense is no worse than any of the rest. Just look up our defensive numbers.

He can get to the rim anytime he wants. But 90% of the time he gets there and starts pump faking, trying to draw contact and throws up a bad shot. Hell he hit the bottom of the backboard today. I was like WTF?
My grandson did the same exact thing in his game Saturday morning. I mean, he’s a third grader but still.

He put in work on his 3 point shot and got results. Now it's time for him to be working on a shot from 4 feet, a baby hook or high off the glass shot. I think that's easier and faster than adding 10 points to your 3 point shooting percentage. I hope it happens because he'd be an offensive force if he could finish at the rim.

He’s an offensively challenged guard that was ranked 182nd in the portal. What we got from him for most of the year was overachievement. It’s tough to overachieve for a full season, especially if you’re banged up.

I knew his UGH paralleled his MDW on Monday nights after 7pm during 1/4 moons we were screwed … then his KWU got explained on MSNBC . I just knew his PGG has dipped below his freshman RQW ….yes I’m making fun of someone — someone who has dogged Butler for weeks . Load of BS , at times his D has been smothering , at times only decent , he was good enough to lay 30 on the dirty birds , but now we have these statistical ANALyst trying to say he isn’t worthy to run the PG .. total nonsense by people who must not know shit about basketball . No he didn’t play very well against Vandy . Neither did BG or Brea or Jax or or or .. leave the dude alone and let him do his thing . He’s playing thru pain that would sideline some guys . So put a sock in the criticism .

I’ve seen this 182 number thrown around .. 182 according to who ? Some dipshit like Kenpom ? The guy was the PG on a FF team ! 182 nd ?

Everyone has lost on the road except Auburn and Bama mostly. I do have a critique tho. Why does it take a half time adjustment for this team to come out on fire. If they did this at the beginning of the game they might break their Will to
Win. Instead they spot them 14 points and have the fight of their lives every game. Need to play like it’s 2nd half for 40 minutes. That is my first Pope criticism.
That's a coaching issue. It appears this staff struggles with game day prep. Pitino's teams, regardless of talent, went at all 40 minutes of each game. He didn't have trouble getting them ready to play, and didn't need to motivate them.

I get it he’s not been great over fivr games…but still shooting 38%Pt..is quite solid …right at 2 to 1 assist to turnover…very solid as well

You guys are acting like he’s falling off a cliff..those aren’t good numbers but they aren’t awful either

And when you’re cherry picking five games…he’s still been a dang good player for UK. The thought we’d run out Travis Perry or even Krissa if healthy…there would be massive dropoff
