Anyone think

lol it wasn’t nothing to do with the media. It was about money upfront and a little staying at the place that recruited him. He isn’t from this country. Anyway to spin negative shit.

So Ryan Lemond saying UK had Magoon wasn't an issue?
If the issue was that he wasn't a fan of getting partial NIL money up front rather than a lump sum, then no. It's not like media leaked a name like they did with Nelly Davis last year and get him sniped out from under us.

Also, for posterity, my answer to the thread title is no. I make it a point to not think. Ever. Next question, please.

Honestly I think the only issue is the fans who aren't built for following portal recruiting. Stuff moves fast and we don't always have every piece of information. Fans freaking out already when there are still guys entering the portal everyday need to relax and find a different hobby

Ryan Lemond stating we had Magoon locked up didn’t change a single thing.

Otoh if anyone wants to go over to Ryan Lemond’s house with torches and pitchforks just for shits and giggles, hollar. I’m in.

Exactly this.

Those fans should log out for a couple weeks or only pay attention to commits. Getting all worked up over speculation, rumor and innuendo isn’t something I find productive, but I won’t tell anyone how to fan.

Uh, no. But if you ask nicely I’m sure he’d let you come over for a swim and a couple of beers from his man cave kegerator.

I think they help contribute to fans freaking out and our overall mood, and help set a narrative. I don't think they impact what recruits or our staff decide to do.

I do believe they create storylines that aren’t there for clickbait but that’s all media. I don’t think that impacts recruiting but it does stir up the hornets nest here.

Everyone knows what’s going on, but unfortunately there’s only a few of us that aren’t in denial!

I’m as big a fan as any of you, but I am also well versed in pattern recognition!

How many strikeouts is it going to take some of you? Because lashing out at me for mentioning it, is not going to change the situation, and neither is playing pretend with your common sense!

I'm fairly certain, when the season starts, you'll be pretty happy with the roster. Think emotions have you a prisoner of the moment.

I doubt our media is any different than any other big basketball program's. Just doing their jobs. I think in those high level recruiting and coaches/players circles, they don't pay too much attention to the folks that they know don't know much. Probably entertaining for them.

I like to think about the portal like buying a new house. You have the issue of needing a house, and you want to look at enough that you select the best one, but you also worry that if the first house you look at is the best and you keep looking you will miss out on that house.

Basically you need to look at some houses to get a feel for the market before deciding. If you do the math on this you need to look at 37% of the houses before buying one and that will give you the best option at picking the best house.

What I'm saying is the best method to get the portal players is probably not taking the first good player we see.

Not a factor at all. Nobody outside of KY or who has followed Kentucky knows who the **** Ryan Lemond is. This isn't a shot, it's just facts.

The program pursued the guy and he chose to stay at SDSU after they communicated what his salary/role etc...would be.

Michigan was also mentioned and chose to go after Morez Johnson after he entered the Portal and is on a lot of Portal guys. They also may have a better idea of what their $ allotment is for the '26 roster as well.

Will say the OP's point is more true about the fake insiders who are out there and proclaim they know something is going to happen or that they have "sources" which basically are Travis Graf's Premium Board info which he himself keeps QUIET. Graf reports what he's heard/knows but never brags/advertises to be 1st. Neither does David Sisk. I don't belong to Premium Board but I've PM'd Travis enough to know what type of character he has and how he's sat quietly when he could easily confirm/deny something out of respect for the program/players involved while others run with theories and drama.

Plenty of time for Portal roster additions. I'm still more frustrated by the HS end of how Caleb Wilson was handled than anything. Wish UK would've been all in on Ament and pursued Chris Cenac more-but we're onto the next cycle and hope they learned from last year.

You have no idea why players choose Kentucky or don’t. You are not in on the interviews or discussions about these players.
We read about these players on the internet and that Kentucky has reached out to them. When that player chooses another program, for whatever reason, you call it a strikeout- when it could be an intentional walk.
Less than 10% of portal players have decided on a school-RELAX.
