You know on YouTube there's this alternatehistoryhub channel that uses those adorable distinctive eh, people/dolls to tell how history could've turned out different? Well I present to you some What If's below to try to determine what could've been (try to keep it realisticish of course)

* 2008 -- What if John Calipari had been chosen over Billy Gillespie at this point (John was in serious contention for the job at this point too). And would BCG had been more successful in both coaching/personal life without taking the UK job?

* 2005 -- What if Tubby Smith won that 2OT Michigan State game and made the Final Four? Since that would've eliminated Tubby critics top greviance (no FF's since the 1998 title), could Tubby had stayed longer and in better graces with BBN?

* 1997 -- What if Rick Pitino did not take the Celtics job and stayed in KY?

* 1993 -- What if UK had beat the "Fake Five" in the OT game to make the title game? Would we have had a good shot at beating North Carolina?

* 1992 -- What if the infamous Christian Latner shot missed and the Unforgettables made the FF? Would they be even more beloved? Or perhaps less?

* 1989 -- What if the "Unforgettables" also left Kentucky in the wake of the "Kentucky's Shame" scandal?

* 1989 -- What if Kentucky was hit with the death penalty (no season at all) for 1990 and/or 1991?

* 1988 -- What if the $1000 envelope was no discovered and the "Kentucky's Shame" scandal was not discovered?

* 1978 -- What if Joe B Hall did not win the championship that year?

* 1970 -- What if Mike Casey did not get injured?

* 1966 -- What if the Rupp's Runts did win the title? How would both they and TexWes be remembered?

* 1930 -- What if John Maier got the raise/contract package he wanted and stayed at UK (and thus Rupp did not become coach in 1931...or perhaps ever)?

Of course you don't need to answer all these; just one or two is fine...again, try to keep the possiblities realistic...for example, don't say "What if BGC made the Final Four in 2008?" :p

Thank you for not mentioning Bogans' injury in 2003. Many UK fans swear up and down that UK would've defeated Marquette with a healthy Keith Bogans. I disagree. Marquette soundly defeated UK that day in front of a hostile crowd. As great as that team played throughout the conference portion of its schedule, it was obvious the team had regressed in the few games prior to playing Marquette, which was a sixth seed that season. Nope, Marquette was going to win that game with or without a healthy Bogans.

I was going to mention that one as well. If anyone watched that game UK, even with a 100% healthy Bogans, was over matched that night.

I've never quite figured out how Bogans' injury caused Robert Jackson to go off on inside to the tune of 24 points and 15 rebounds.

What if I had a 12 incher?
Would I have ended up an unsaved Porn Star who eventually contracted AIDS and spent the rest of eternity in hell?

Happy Easter by the way.

The fact that our fans continue to parrot this BS amazes me. Bogans injury did not cause us to lose. We got killed in every facet and Jackson, their big guy, torched us. Bogans still played and scored a team high 15 points.

FG
UK-25 of 64
Marq-31 of 55

3PT
UK-4 of 16
Marq-10 of 19

Robert Jackson- 24 pts, 16 rebounds
Dwayne Wade-29 pts, 11 rebounds, 11 assists
Steve Novak- 16 pts, (5 3pters)

Our front court (Daniels,Estill,Hayes) gave us a combined 19 points 18 rebounds).

Ok how bout if Bogans was 100% and he goes off for 30?

See how this alternate Universe can be?

Bogans scored what was his average throughout the entire season. We got smoked that day and lost by 14. Any suggestion of Bogans "scoring 30" is total nonsense.

What if we had gotten Mudiay last year and Newman this year? We would have never gotten Ulis or Murray and would have missed out on one of UK's greatest backcourt tandems. I know most of us wanted the aforementioned really bad, but in the end it played out extremely well. Mudiay would have never played and Newman wasn't even close to Murray this year.

Anyone got some intelligent, serious ideas about what could've been in the above scenarios?

2008-If Calipari had been hired instead of Gilliespie we would've likely had D. Rose and probably would've had those games vacated. The penalties likely would've been worse because the NCAA has a thing for us.

And less me guess, people would care even less that Cal had nothing to do with it? :p

Bryant would likely have received a Cadillac, if he had stayed at UK for 25 years which is what Rupp received his for.

Of course Rupp received his Cadillac well AFTER Bryant already left UK, despite the persistent folklore.

all I can say is that I remember the whole state going into mourning when the news of Casey's injury broke, and it became known that he would miss the whole season. Going into that season expectations were very high that UK would finally break UCLA's grip on the NC. People couldn't wait for that to happen. No such luck.

And we thought losing Derek Anderson in 1997 was bad! He did get to make a cameo appearance in a later game though (forget which one) to shoot a couple of technical FT's. Pitino didn't want to be selfish (those were the days!) and not risk Derek's NBA chances just to improve Pitino's chances of winning another title. Yet even so we just barely missed doing so! Unfortunately the wrong kind of Wildcats won it :p

I will give you a serious answer to one of your "what if" scenarios. I think if Rick Pitino had not gone to the Celtics that UK would have at least 9 or quite possibly more national championships at this time. AND I think his personal problems would be a lot less and he would be by far the most popular citizen of Kentucky! That's what I think.

I also think Joe B. would have had a hard time if 78 team had not won NCAA. They were picked from the beginning to be the #1 team and if they had lost I'm not sure he could have held on to his job. But they won and he did a great job coaching under that pressure. The game where he took most of the starters out to begin the second half in NCAA tourney stands out in my mind. Good job Joe B.!!!!

2003 UK was a #1 seed playing a team from Milwaukee in the Minneapolis Region Final. Other Region sites were Anaheim, San Antonio and Albany so had to go somewhere.

We will never know but if Bogans had been healthy that white hoy that hit all those threes would not have been in the game because he wouldn't have had anyone to guard!

You're referring to Steve Novak who has since gone on to have a 10-year career in the NBA (and counting)?

Seems we're not giving him sufficient credit here.

Once John Wooden said it'd be his last we had virtually NO chance. There was no NO way UCLA was gonna blow it to a bunch of little freshmen "kittens" (as our freshman team was called back when they weren't allowed to be on our real "varsity" team). :p
