The strategy to give opposing teams wide open 3 pointers is supposedly based on “analytics”. But the flaw with analytics is that you have to recreate the same environment to have those analytics bear true.
Sure, big z hasn’t been shooting great. But teams also haven’t made it a strategy to give him wide open shots. The same goes for the ole miss big men.
The question is, will our staff learn this lesson? The former coach never adjusted and never learned a lesson.
I have faith that pope will. Hopefully we see an adjustment where big men start closing out on shooters instead of allowing wide open, set shots. Giving teams wide open 3’s was a failed experiment. It’s not sound defense.
