Allen for Duke trips another player...no foul called

If his coach was the guy he wants everyone to think he is, he would suspend him. Won't happen. The biggest phony ever. Anyone really think that does not support and promote this kind of behavior? It's why I can't stand their teams or him. Just a bunch of arrogant jerks who are taught they are better than everyone else and they don't have to go by the same rules as everyone else.
And all of the hypocrites like Vitale who set hush mouthed on stuff like this. It's why Vitale and those like him are ignored as being honest.
It'll be interesting to see if Coach K has the nads to go ahead and suspend him for a game but I seriously doubt it. It would be hard to do because he teaches his players to flop and play dirty. Name another team that has players flop as much as Duke? UofL might give them a run for their money lol.
And I'm just glad Demarcus Cousins never did something like that because the media would've had a field day roasting him and Cal. So lets see what happens with Duke now that Allen has been caught yet again taking a cheap shot at an opponent. Is Dukie V or anyone at ESPN gonna criticize Duke at all?

4 pages and not once has Allen been referred to as a thug. He was called a punk several times, dirty, a jerk, a turd, but not a thug. Interesting.

I'm your huckleberry.....He's a thug

Also, as many douchbag players as Coach K has had at Duke over the years it raises one question. Does he recruit douchbags or does he convert them to douchbags when he gets them there?

Probably a little of both. He can probably spot the douche bag potential in kid at birth.

Remember the trips last year from Winslow? This is definitely looking bad for K. We already knew he taught flopping, especially on 3 pt attempts. Now it's hard to not conclude he's at least nudge nudge wink winking on tripping.

Could you imagine a UK player tripping people and throwing elbows like that? Hell we can't spike the ball celebrating a big play without it being whistled a technical, a UK player would probably be ejected and suspended for the crap Allen does.

If coach K had any class at all, he would suspend the punk for a game. I'm shocked the ACC hasn't. If he played at UK and did that, I'd sure want him suspended.

Any other program in the country and he'd have been teed up, or thrown out of the game. Once is bad enough, but twice.? The kids a punk and an embarrassment to college basketball.

Thugs don't trip. You ever seen a gang of thugs going around tripping people? That's what punks and school-yard bullies do. Very few thugs in college basketball IMO, but one example I can think of is that Yancy Gates from a few years ago. That dude should have faced charges for the cheap shots he took at people in that Xavier/UC game.

Seems like the only thing he is interested in is if Willis has any weed

Every time I see Ingram, his lids are at half-mast. Looks permanently baked.

Winslow tripped Justin Jackson and kicked Brice Johnson in the groin in the same game last year.

Well sure, someone could get hurt, but I don't think it is as wildly dangerous as some are making it out to be. I mean, sticking your foot out is something little kids do. Given the insane physicality of basketball, the boxing out and the jumping and the charging and the blocking... I think people are overblowing the actual danger of it. Totally a cheap shot and deserved at least a foul, but I don't think it deserves some of the anger over the potential for getting hurt that it has generated. I mean... You watch an MMA fight, and nobody gets knocked out by a somewhat wimpy trip... They get teeth knocked out with elbows and the like:)

To be clear, not excusing it at all; cheap and stupid. Just saying it was not some truly dangerous, dangerous play.

Tell me what is more "dangerous" or "unsportsmanlike", deliberately tripping a player when he doesn't expect it or throwing the ball and hitting no one in excitement? One of these, in fact, did receive a technical and one did not. Care to guess? I think that's the anger with UK fans mostly. We have a good kid getting T'd up for excitement while this punk is getting away with multiple trips and elbows game after game.

Per ESPN:

ACC ISSUES 'LETTER OF REPRIMAND' TO ALLEN
The ACC has issued a letter of reprimand to Duke's Grayson Allen for his trip of Xavier Rathan-Mayes near the end of Duke's game against Florida State. The league will issue no further punishment.

Well I hope that doesn't scar him for life, with in two days coach K will have them issue a letter of apology !!

Only other thing I've seen on it aside from the Letter of Reprimand just recently came from Andy Katz:

"Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton told ESPN Friday that Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski called him Friday to apologize for Grayson Allen's trip of Xavier Rathan-Mayes in the final seconds of Thursday night's game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. "He acknowledged the fact and apologized to our staff and to let Xavier know too. We accepted it and moved on. It's the end of it. I was proud of the way Xavier handled it. We've done moved on. We don't want to let it become an issue. It's over."

I remember (a bit) of the old Baltimore Catechism about the sacrament of Confession and the requirements for forgiveness. In addition to confessing one's sins and doing the prescribed penance there was Firm Purpose of Amendment. People talk about kicking this bad habit or that bad habit, but what if your actual bad habit is kicking. You're going to kick kicking and not kick? Catch 22, eh?

Ah, the old "strongly worded letter". Bet he doesn't do that again.

If he does it again ACC will make hime write 500 times "I will not be a dick that trips others again!"

Dang, I had already forgotten how dirty Winslow was as well. Both are dirty players coached by Poppy... I remember watching Winslow throughout the season doing all kinds of jersey grabbing (even in a final 4 game - no shame in his game). He would do whatever needed to restrict a player who got out on him in transition. Yeah - thanks for the reminder - he was/is a dirty player - love to see a video compilation of his "Best of's". Poppy says "You're jumping like crazy and playing dirty D".

BTW, this thread does not show up for me anymore. I had to use the search function. I think maybe I have the OP on ignore. Only reason I can think of.

But, Coach K does things the right way!

Dear Grayson,

We're sorry that the mean guy from Fl. State kicked you in the leg. If it happens again, he will be suspended indefinitely.

Your humble servant,

John Swofford
