A look ahead at the Kansas game this weekend

I rarely watch non UK games multiple times but I watched that UNC/KU game about 3 times ...loved watching UNC get blown out big time in the final four.

Not to belabor the point but we went golfing Sunday after that game and there were several UNC fans in the golf clubhouse staring eerily at us when we came in. Not a word. Met a pack of UCLA fans on the 7th hole, played the rest of the way out with them. Fun as hell, just as you'd imagine: sandy hair, flip flops, and several bottles of Crown Royal. We told them we were ssorry they were blown out by Memphis and they were like "Yeah bummer bro, but we're here for the party and it ain't over!" True story.

I'm here because you guys care a lot about college basketball, like we do. There aren't many schools who care this much. Oh, and I was on the UNC board for about 10 min, asked a question they didn't like, got the boot. They are the biggest babies on the planet.

Glad to see we agree about something. BTW, did you watch our game last night, and was it a game you were actually for UK to win, given the KU hatred for Missouri?

Carolina is favored over Denver...... is that still not a super bowl for both teams? The term being someone's super bowl doesnt mean what you think it does. It simply means biggest game of the year.

Exactly, and this year I doubt there are more than a handful of KU fans that would put any other game ahead of this one as a "must win".

A month ago, I didn't like our chances. But, that was a month ago. We are hitting 3's now, and Briscoe is even making free throws! Ulis looks unstoppable and Willis has regained his shooting confidence. Even Skal looks like he wants the ball. I think we win this one, and I think at this continued pace of improvement, a Final Four berth is likely.

I hope we give kansas a good game. Oklahoma threw everything at them and still lost. Kansas is a better team at home than on the road. He'll west virgina beat them and they are 24th now. Since perry ellis played with nick collison he could probably give him a game plan.

P.s.
I propose that if we beat kansas We need to start a CUT NETS appreciation thread. I've never seen a poster take more heat for just showing up than cut nets himself lol. I think that would be a good trade off lol

I was half-assing it, building Legos with my 3 year old. But yes to answer your question, I found the beatdown funny and got a good laugh when Willis went coast to coast and slammed it off their face

College basketball games are easily the best experience for opposing fans because stadiums don't sell alcohol and people don't "pre party" in the lot getting drunk on their own. You rarely see drunkards at a hoops game unless it's the students in the nosebleeds. I go to NFL games here in KC and I've seen opposing fans harrassed by drunk idiots.

NFL Fan is another animal. I don't know if I'd even bring a kid to a Bengals game.

Kansas is going to be out for blood Saturday anyway. I'd rather them come in struggling than confident. Going to be a tough one.
After our game last night, and their recent loss, a seed of doubt has been planted in KU players and coaches. Doubt is the greatest killer of an opponent. I like where our energy level is. If we take that same energy into AFH, it will be a battle.

Definitely not when the Steelers come in town. I have several friends who are Steelers fans and we went three years ago together. I got more threats than them just for walking with them.

Drunk fans ruin all sorting events. I took my wife to Nashville for one of the bowl games when we played Clemson during the Woodson years. Some idiot drunk spills beer all over her. Really messed the occasion up

There is NO DOUBT this is the biggest game on Kansas' schedule this year. Especially now that they are floundering a bit. You have revenge from the title game still there, and definitely revenge for the blowout last year. This is a team that really needs and wants this win. I expect them to play one of their best games of the year. We all know that teams overlook smaller teams (Auburn), but that will not happen with KU or UK for that matter.

Also, the Big 12 is overrated this year, but so is everyone else. There really doesn't seem to be a true #1 team this year. The Big 10 has a lot of schools ranked high that aren't all that either. Oklahoma is the cream of the Big 12, but they have some serious holes like everyone else. I don't think WV is all that, and look for Kansas to lose before the sweet 16. Iowa St has some really glaring holes on both sides of the court as well.

All that said, this is the most open year in college hoops I can remember in the last 30 years or so.
The Big 12 is overrated THIS year??? How about every year.
Actually I think the BIG12 is really good this year. Teams like Iowa State might actually live up to the hype, they've been trying to make us believe for years that they are a great team.
Oklahoma is the real deal.
Texas is dangerous.
KU is their normal selves
Texas Tech is capable of beating some teams so this year I think the B12 Might live up to the hype for once.
However U think UK matches up favorably with Oklahoma. They depend on 3 point shooting and UK has shown the ability to defend that very well.

I bet most on this board don't know that Perry Ellis was the one who got the assist on Danny Manning's last bucket in the 88 title game.

I dont think the revenge factor plays that much because Murray and Briscoe and Skal and Willis didnt play in that gm.

it does for them - doesn't matter who played in the game. We still talk about "hating" KU for the 150-95 drubbing and no one involved with either team now were involved with either team then. Well, except maybe Perry Ellis (hat tip @kyjeff1 )

I agree the Big 12 is always overrated in basketball

Iowa St has burned me two years in a row on my tournament brackets. Kind of like Stephen Jackson of Fantasy Football. No more picking them to do anything!

I don't see any team in the Big 12 that can make a good run. Oklahoma is OK, Heild is fantastic, but as you said WAY too dependent on the 3. There will be a game it doesn't fall.

Texas will win a game or two, but that's about it

Kansas may beat us tomorrow, but they just aren't a good tournament team history wise, and this year's version is a mess

There aren't too many defensive juggernauts this year so a team like Oklahoma can get to a FF but I would pick against them if they had to play Michigan State or UK.
But I do think a BIG12 team will get to the E8 this year and have a strong chance to get to the FF. I just doubt it will be KU or Iowa State.
