I've always been a huge fan of both basketball and football (football a little closer to my heart to be honest) and always will be. The arrogance of the basketball-only front-runners bothers me immensely, though. Especially when they mock our football team. It's one thing to be uninterested in a particular sport...none of us have time to watch every single competition UK is involved in. But if you're a UK fan you should be a UK fan, period.

if you simply base it off the proportion of fan attendance/support through the years vs level of success, there is no question football wins that comparison easily. Drawing 40K to 50K though year after year of losing season and taking thousands on the road too.

Yeah I’m not sure equating winning the sec in football with basketball is the route to go. I mean winning the sec in fb makes you the top 1 or 2 teams in America. And frankly football is a much more fun fan participation sport we just haven’t won at it historically. Is uK still a basketball school? Yeah. But you take the last five years and have another 5 similar in each sport it would be. People wouldn’t mind if cal had his act together but you can’t say that stuff when you don’t.

Cal took UMass to a final four and Memphis to a title game. Those schools have been awful since he left and were terrible before he got there.

Cal has struggled of late by UK’s standards, but the basketball team is held to a much, much higher standard than the football team. For obvious reasons.

I think Stoops is doing a good job. Him getting UK football to this point is impressive but calling him successful and Cal a failed coach is absurd.
