For the most part we have shot the ball better after that mid season slump. With that said we have not been anywhere close to the 35 3's per game Pope said he wanted us to take. We have only done it twice and that was in our first 5 games with none since.

I think the injuries have made it even harder to hit that goal, too, as the Cats don't have the depth to push the pace hard enough to get that many possessions.

That, AND I think by Pope keeping resaying that 30 goal, defenses have focused on stopping us shooting the 3, and thus we have taken more shots near the rim. Maybe that was his plan, IDK, but it's worked out well with us making 56.4% of our 2's. That % is the highest we've had at UK in the 2000's. The prior highs were 2001, 2010 & 2024 all at 54.6%. Maybe by saying we want to shoot a ton of 3's teams are guarding us closer out there, freeing up the paint for drives & post up shots that are not double teamed as much.

Interesting on % of 3's attempted:
Tubby's teams 2001-2007: 5 of those 7 years 31.3-34.8% of their shots were for 3
Cal's teams 2010-2024: 14 of those 15 years 26.5-32.4% of their shots were for 3, then last year it shot up to 37.5%
Pope's first UK team, it has been 42.7% (so even if not the 30/gm he said he wanted, it's significantly higher than we are used to)

Oweh with only 15 3FG makes on the year is surprisingly low, I knew it wasn't a ton but figured it'd be somewhere in the 20s at least.

Need him to at least be a threat from deep down the stretch, and definitely something for him to develop over the offseason.

He's not a very good shooter. I dread seeing him pull it from 3 to be honest.

I agree. I didn't feel like that in the non-conference but now in league play, I definitely hate when he pulls one from deep.

His missed 3FG against Vandy might have cost us the game (led to a runout and a 3 at the other end).
