22 calls from one ref all against UK?

Couch is an insufferable asshole and has brought a lot of it on himself with his tongue.

Funny how it never seemed to hurt this guy tho

Haven’t verified this, but pretty wild allegation.

I find that hard to believe, I will admit there were a few calls that I thought were horrible, but this game looked just like the regular season game, stats are almost identical. The problem is we never changed one thing from the last time we played them.

Sports gambling is ruining all sports. You will never convince me that refs don’t manipulate games to align with their anonymous gambling. Or are paid under the table for influencing the game to go a certain way (Vegas). Or paid bonuses by the SEC to influence games to get bubble teams into the dance.
This! You will never convince me otherwise. For people to believe that money corrupts politicians, businesses and people of all walks of life except for sports refs/umpires/officials is comical.

I think UK fans need to boycott the SEC tournament next year….(1) to show the UK administration we are upset with Cal’s attitude and performance in the SEC tournament. (2) Show the SEC we won’t accept buying all their tickets for them to allow the refs or even instruct the refs to allow the other team to physically maul us and call phantom fouls to get another conference member into the NCAA. The SEC was the big winner yesterday….UK fans bought all the tickets to the tournament for all the rounds AND they got Texas A&M in the NCAA tournament for more precious TV tournament “units”.

Fans need to take a time out from spending on UK basketball for a bit. The only way to get attention at this point is a boycott.

Interesting that all loses but 1 came after Higgins 2017
I didn’t realize that about the Cal era! He was a college ref before 2004 and then officiated for the NBA from 2004/5-2013/14.
He officiated several UK losses prior to 2004, but you’re right, all but 1 loss in the Cal-era is post-Higgins debacle.

Refs were terrible first game too, tbh.
Yep it was pretty similar. Miss St had a ton of calls go their way, but the main difference between that game and ours was that they just let them hammer each other to death - lots of no calls that should have been called. Several 3-second violations by both teams, probably 6-7 walks no-called, and many of the fouls that were called were phantom.

And guess who called that one? Yep, Phat Adams, SEC preferred "fixer" supreme.

I know I have. I have gone to numerous Final 4s, NCAA tournament games as well as games in Miami, NYC, Indianapolis etc but have never been to an SEC tournament game. The stars aligned where I was in Nashville for other reasons but there was no way in hell I was spending money on tickets. Watching the game from my hotel room, I looked at my wife and college aged son a said this is 100% why I didn‘t buy tickets. I refused to buy tickets for the Indy St. Peters loss despite living there. My coworkers know how much of a UK fan I am and couldn’t believe I wouldn’t go.

I will not be attending another UK game while Cal leads the program. I will watch but with far less passion because Cal doesn’t care about the fans or the program. He has said so. Some will claim that his words were for recruiting. I will say his words were quite prophetic.

I read the SEC makes approx $2M per NCAA tourney game that contains an SEC team
Well that's way more than I suspected. I figured something like $20k per team, which still isn't chump change. But $2m for each game featuring a team from their league??

Yeah, that explains a lot about what just went down in the last two games with two bubble teams needing that one win over the 1 and 2 seed to get in. If the above is true (still not confirmed), that's $4m to the SEC and whole hell of a lot of reasons to inject strategic refs to steer the games.

You will be happy to know that we have lost 3 out of the last 4 games this guy has officiated.

And 5 out of the last 8.

If true, there’s a 100% chance he or a friend took the A&M money line. That’s a bold accusation though
Likely less to do w gambling and more to do with the SEC intentionally giving us their “yes men”. Getting AM into the tournament made the league 2mil last night. And ever additional game a sec team plays in the NCAA tournament is an additional 2m….more teams = big money. The league made 37m last season by playing in 17 games

Refs gamble, it's obvious and too easy to manipulate a close spread game.

Higgins was bad at it honestly, it's obvious he was fixing games... I don't think he hated UK , I just think in those games he was the ref that UK played in, it just happened to be money on the other side negative against UK.

A pattern appeared, he was bad at it, if there's an obvious pattern that's how you get exposed... BUT it apparently doesn't matter because nothing is ever looked into with these refs, they are all protected and cbs, espn, fox .. .they never call out the bad calls either, even in game if a call is reviewed and obviously wrong they rarely say that's wrong they just move on. Like that block review a game or two back where we all saw the review and they still called it a goal tend.

Next year you have west coast teams playing in the ACC. Why the heck do we need conference affiliated refs? Don’t tell me it is about travel if west coast teams play on east coast. Refs should rotate conferences weekly so all refs get a shot at all conferences. This may eliminate some bias. 🤷‍♂️
I think some of it has to do with where they live. Most, if not all of these refs have regular day jobs. This is just a side gig. The NCAA doesn't want to spend money (they make much less now thanks to NIL sucking from their revenue) to fly refs all over the country at random when they can just pay them IRS mileage to drive from their homes to the games.

But mainly this will never happen because of the corruption. Once these leagues (particularly the SEC) gets their loyal fixers set, they keep them to avoid risk of 1) being caught and 2) having to start over on trying to bribe new refs to cater to their agendas.

It's like a mini-mafia of sorts. And the NCAA protects them to the point that if any player or coach complains about the refs in post-game, they get fined per instance.

Can someone verify the OP ? Did these guy really go 0-22
I rewatched this morning and he called approximately 22 fouls on UK alone. I didn't really pay attention as to whether he called any against A&M, but I don't recall seeing many, if any at all.

For the record, we had 24 total fouls....22 or so were called by this guy (there were two or three where I couldn't tell if he called it or that other guy not named Shows). Only one was called against us by Shows, though, and it was legit.

Blatantly crooked .. the SEC office and national media need to cover this story ..
fwiw ole Ugo cross body blocked a guy on a made layup in the first half , and nothing g was called .. it would have been a good hit by a cb on a wr . It wasn’t intentional, he was lost per usual

I was saying this same thing about Cal and starting Reed, but i don’t understand why coaches aren’t allowed to criticize refs publicly. I think light is the best disinfectant and coaches should be allowed to criticize what they want. If they are wrong then show how…

There is no reason a 18-22 year old who is not an ncaa or school employee should be forced to answer for a late turnover in the last game of their career while crying, but a ref employed by the ncaa can’t answer or defend their actions during the game. It is absurd really.

Orlandis Poole, is from were I live in VA, he used to be in the NBA and got demoted, he also officiated our game against UNCW, I was at that game sitting floor side, I yelled out to him Virginia, and he said no, like he was trying hide the fact he was from there for some reason, I was like wow, I officiated basketball also and have met him at a camp before, but bottom line he hates Kentucky and its obvious...

I'd love to know how many of those calls he made out of position, like the Reeves call in the OP.

Well, you're going to have to rewatch then 'cause I'm not watching it a third time! And besides, it's not easy to find them as the cameras are all over the place. Just roughly counting to around 22 for this one guy wasn't easy (not to mention having to watch shit calls again and elevating my blood pressure all over).

I've always been hard on officials. Calling them the lowest form of human life, several times. But recently I've been paying close attention to the big blue history site and looking at refs where our winning percentages are in the 60s-70s% and paying close attention to their calls against us.

It's been pretty shocking, I obviously can't say for sure the reasoning behind it, gambling, incompetence, hate UK/Cal or whatever. But to me, at this point, I have no doubt we get the screws far more often than other SEC teams, and I watch at least 3-4 SEC games a week during the season.

Whatever the reason, eff everyone involved, our kids don't deserve to have to overcome that bullshit.

I'd go back and watch it if I could, I'm just glad someone did to see if this rumor has some legs. I commend you for sitting through that BS a second time.

The Free throw's were not the big a difference, but the cats committing 14 turnovers and letting A&M get 10 more offensive rebounds made the difference.
And a portion of those turnovers and boards were due to refs swallowing their whistle. We got shoved outta the way for offensive boards more than a few times, Rob and Adou both got mauled under the basket which lead to turnovers that aTm seemed to score on each time.

You can't just look at what was called and say welp guess it was even and fair and the refs didn't negatively impact the game....

It’s all about money anywhere a dollar can be made there’s a crook… no way Vegas gets so much right with out a lot on the inside to control it
