2 pm ESPN U PJ Washington plays

I don't think so. I think we just have some fairly dumb people here. Jarred Vanderbilt has actually grown to 6'9, which is absurd when you consider that he could very well be our backup PG next season. I could see us using a swing offense next season.

No way

You really think that Cal isn't going to use a guy like Vanderbilt as a backup PG, when Cal has fawned over having a lineup up guys this big at all 5 positions and abusing matchups and playing some incredibly tough defense, while playing to the strengths of a tradition offense?

He's said it 1,000 times. He did it before with Tyreke Evans (small forward at point guard), I'm not sold that it isn't gonna happen. He's been super vocal about having that kind of team, and this could be the first team that he has that can do that kind of thing, especially if he gets Kevin Knox and Mo Bamba.

Nope, that's why Cal is out there trying to add more guards. Also Shai will be the one backing up Green.

the one coming in would be better .
no way. towns presence keeps that from being true. KAT's going to be, if he's not there already, one of the top 3 bigs in the NBA w/in a very short time and was a dominant presence down low for us at the end of the year. Next year's group has noone in his class offensively, or as far as that goes, willie's defensively.

This is correct. Always amazed at the "this recruiting class best of all time crowd". Nobody in this class could touch Towns. And Willie was as good as he wanted to be defensively.

Yes, it's absurd that recruiting directors like Evan Daniels and Paul Biancardi think it is true, two recruiting directors who were at the McDonald's practices and games and seen him in person, and have been doing this for years so they should know a thing or two about player height. Quite absurd.[/QUOTE

I'm not trying to offend anybody. But Vanderbilt looked significantly shorter than Washington last night. Which doesn't matter to me as I frankly have seen 6'7" guys who play huge and 6'10" guys who play small. However Vanderbilt definitely looked like a wing guy to me.

With Diallo, Vando & Washington to man the wings, that's a lot of length.
80 mins by 3 = 27 mins ea. No help needed.
What we need is 3 elite for the 4-5 spots
Richards, Hump, SKJ, Gabe...doesn't sound scary.

Keep Bam, or add Mo Bam, for solution.
Keep IB & add a shooter from the 2 spot..

We're lucky to have Washington on next year's roster. That dude is one of the most talented players in the entire country. The fact he does everything on the court well while not being flashy at one part of his game actually ends up hurting his ratings. He's the type of player you always want on your team if you want to win basketball games. It's nice to know with the size this kid has he can step out and knock down the deep ball when left open. A big that can shoot from deep helps to open up the lane for every other frontcourt player on the team. If Bamba signs with Kentucky, this kid will be one of the main reasons why. With Bamba in the post, this kid can take the big guarding him and make that defender guard him from outside and help make the post easier for a kid like Bamba.

Draymond Green(ish) perhaps?? Haven't watched Washington play much but that description sounds an awful lot like college Draymond.

Washington will play the 4 at times, assuming we don't get Bamba and Bam is gone. the forward/center positions can be shuffled around. Or maybe put another way.. Cal can run 2 guards, 2 swingmen, and a true post threat. Positions aren't as defined in Cal's system.

I expect Gabriel to make strides this year.. he has too high of a motor not to. And Hump showed promise. I'm not too worried with that collection of 4 and 5's to be honest, simply because we now.. finally!.. have options at the #3.. options with size and speed.
