I love 02-03 but we all seen how they would do in single elimination. Not to mention Mashburn is a matchup nightmare for them. I want to say 02-03 because they have overall depth but I believe Pitino’s style wins out.

02-03 is one of my favorite teams growing up so giving them the nod.

I know Mashburn is a huge factor in this game but I like the balance of the 02-03 squad.

I'll let you all lecture me on why I'm wrong.

02-03 for me. Amazing defense and the best interior passing I've ever seen. Mash was the best thing the '93 team had going for it. Figure out how to guard him -- and I think Tubby would -- and you'll be ok.

Hawkins is a better defender than Ford was accustomed to. The high pick and roll with Mashburn would be more difficult to execute.
Mash can score in variety of ways.
Daniels, Hayes, and Quis had some of the best interior passing I’ve seen in college.
93’ has better outside shooting
Both excel in transition.
Brown is a solid perimeter defender. He’s a similar player to Fitch.
Bogans and Rhodes is an interesting match up. I’ll take a senior over a freshman here though.
I like the depth of 93 better. That may end up being the difference.

Which 2003 team? The one at the end with Bogans limping in a boot and making a sad joke of our whole offensive and defensive system? Or the one that played 97.22% of the season together and swept their SEC schedule as no team in 40 previous years had done?

Both lose to Mashburn surrounded by all those other weapons.

But if that second 2003 version I mentioned gets to play, the real version, that’s a game I would love to see.

I always assume both teams are at their peak for their year in these type of matchups.

The 02-03 season with prime Bogans would give this team a run for their money.

I agree. I don’t think they’d win. Or, let me put it this way, I’m pretty certain they would lose a six game series. But I don’t think it would be a blowout at all. I think it is an excellent question. Kudos to you for coming up with it.

I can definitely see how they could win, they were a relative y deep squad with a great in game coach too.

97 should and likely would prevail with a healthy Derek Anderson.
96-97 crushes that matchup IMO. National runner up and healthy the easy champs.
I do think so but I would love to see it played. Both teams deserve it. Would also love to see '97 at their peak play '96 because man, I think that would be way closer than most of us would imagine. Even in a best-of-seven series.

I picked the other but the interior passing was so fun between Daniels and Hayes.
