I see what he’s saying I just think it’s irrelevant and really not even accurate in that context. These are professional players college sports are a professional league. No longer does an adult player get to have adult money, free adult education, free adult living expenses, adult perks, (hell many of them commit adult crimes and break adult laws ) but, still be seen as an innocent kid who is above criticism nah sorry. Some of the players that receive cash and benefits quit the team on top of it like Wheeler. They can and they will receive whatever comes their way within typical and realistic boundaries. I don’t know what world some live in but that’s how it is and it’s not wrong nor is it changing. This Lebron era “protect the player” stuff isn’t going to happen no matter what they want. Fans can and should conduct themselves like fans. Cheer the greats boo the crappy.
Calipari, even then, got the massive bulk of the fire. The players aren’t getting half the comments thrown at them that some of them should in reality so I don’t even get the issue he’s taking with this. Calipari recieved probably 80% or more of the comments and boos, that’s a lot considering how this is usually goes. In the NBA is the opposite, and these are professionals too, some OLDER than NBA players. I don’t think some are understanding this sht and still operate like it’s kids from the 90’s. It’s not. Not to mention Kentucky people are super respectful for the most past and very good with their players. This constant tag that the fanbase is nuts gets tiresome. Nobody takes care of their players and recognizes them like UK fans.
