You guys that think Andrew flopped better watch it again....

Mann sticks his left hand in Andrew's face. Mann then makes a quick swiping motion across and toward Andrew's face. Can't for the life of me imagine that is a basketball play.

I can't tell for sure if Mann's hand makes contact with Andrew's face. Whether Andrew actually got hit in the eye, or was reacting to a hand coming toward him, I'm not sure.

Did Andrew exaggerate the contact to draw the ref's attention? Probably. Did Mann make a dirty swipe toward Andrew's face/eye? Sure looks that way after watching it 300 times.

It isn't like Mann made a play on the ball. He took a swipe at our PG's face and half the board wants to crucify our player. How about giving the kid the benefit of the doubt.

So now the people who saw he clearly flopped are haters, blind or crucifying Andrew.

This thread brought some many unexpected lulz.

I think it is Gold and White... or is it Black and Blue?...Flop, eye poke, travel, foul...who cares!

I think in most of the replays people have posted, it's clear he wasn't touched.

An eye poke. Not a flop.
His hand never touched his face...are you blind?
I accused Andrew of a flop yesterday in another thread and watched the game again last night. Like another poster I slowed this down frame by frame and the Georgia players left hand comes very close to Andrews right eye. Honestly I could not determine either way after watching it that closely. Andrew did however sit on the floor for a few extra moments after being awarded the timeout and rubbed his eye a bit before getting up so I am giving him the benefit of doubt on this one. No reason after the play is over to rub your eye if it did not at least get grazed and the eye is an extremely sensitive area so any poke would cause such a reaction.

I love the way Andrew is playing right now, he has become our team's leader. It was a good attempt by Andrew at that point in the game. A foul call there could have garnered us 2 points with no time off the clock when we needed a boost. Andrew was doing what he thought was best for his team.

However, he overreacted right in front of the Ref and didn't get the call. By saying he "flopped", I am by NO MEANS trying to demean him for his attempt to help the team. Just calling it how it is, nothing more.

Why are you rewinding when there is a link posted 20 times in this thread of a close up, slow motion replay showing he doesn't touch Andrew.

Here it is:

brianpoe, that Vine is proof positive that Andrew wasn't even remotely hit anywhere near his eye, unless his eye is floating under his chin.

We all love Andrew's effort, but he tried to draw the foul and came up empty.

These damn people have me thinking I am crazy. This video is posted all through this thread yet.... honestly, we deserve every criticism as a fan base out there.

That is correct according to NCAA rules, Section 72, Article V, "It is traveling when a player falls to the playing court while holding the ball without maintaining a pivot foot".

Explain to me what Mann is doing when he puts his hand in Andrew's face and then makes an open-handed flicking motion toward Andrew's face? I've played basketball for 33 years and can honestly say that I've never made that maneuver while playing defense.

it was pretty clear watching the live replays during the game that he wasn't touched. the first thing i thought of when it happened was this:

Did you people even watch the slo-mo replay. Do you honestly think he was poked or slapped in the face?

I watched it in slo-mo but I am having problems watching it because of the girl. I'm old but not dead!

Whoa... which instance is the eye poke then? We talking about two different plays?

When was the poke? My apologies if we are talking about a different time in the game, I was going by the initial video immediately after the OP in the thread.

If you pause and frame by frame it, the finger poke looks a lot more possible than with that vine video. That video is still to fast and to small to see the finger movement as close as it was.

Yep. You can clearly see Mann swipe at Andrew's face. You can't tell if/where his hand connected. I blew it up as large as my computer would allow and watched it repeatedly...never could conclusively tell.

doesn't matter. Hell, it's over. Guards do that all the time anymore. Some just do it a lot more than others.

I don't know what to tell you Aike, it doesn't appear he gets within 2 inches of Andrews face.

Now I'm not saying he wasn't trying to get an advantage here. But you need a better computer if you can't see him missing Andrew's face from this video:

Or maybe I am just getting old, blind and senile...

He did get a hand/finger to the face, but he exaggerated it big time. .He needs to sack up like Ulis and stop slinging his head back like UL players...

To the person who said there is no reason for him to rub his eye on the bench if he wasn't hit, pretty sure the twins have contacts, so that's a very plausible reason.

I love this place! I am on the side of he flopped, but the fun part is we're divided on everything here and it's fun bantering back and forth.

I love both twins but honestly that's embarrassing. That's worse than any Duke player has ever done. They need to leave that stuff for the dookies and thoughen up and play ball. They flail around at least once a game each acting like they've been mugged when in actuality they barely get touched. I'm truly embarrassed for Andrew on this one.

Try this link. I slowed it way down and got kinda close. I think he might have gotten him on his nose a little, but not sure about the eye. He did exaggerate it, but I do believe there was contact.

I watched it about 750 more times. Even adjusted it so all I could see on the bottom of the screen was Andrew's face and Mann's hand coming toward it.

Gun to my head, I would say Mann caught him across the chin a little bit. Still can't tell for certain. I do think Andrew tried to sell it, but I also think Mann intentionally smacked at Andrew's face.

Zapruder ain't got nothing on Cat fans.

Agree. Everybody is calling it a flop because there was no head butt. Andrew's reaction is clearly in sequence with contact from Mann's left hand. That contact is also clear. In real time Mann's left hand was moving rapidly, and looks like it could have contacted Andrew's mouth.

Count me in the camp that says this is no flop. Andrew is reacting to contact to his face.

That official should never call another basketball game.
