Yenser a definite pink slip

We have a breakdown on almost every pass play. Watch the Georgia line and see what a clean pocket looks like. Even when Levis doesn't get sacked he has a tackle or guard pushed back right at his feet. Put Levis behind Georgias line and you would see how talented he is. Our line gets beat on almost every pass and its all not Levis fault.
Our o-line is putrid. But Will does have a very slow “processor “. Thats a very bad combination.

I think Scanjello taking away Levis' mobility has contributed to the protection/sack/pocket presence problem for Levis. Scanjello doesn't want Levis to be injured, but by eliminating his scrambles, he's setting him up for bigger hits. I think Scannjello is tuw first guy that needs to go. He needs to let Levis run if that's available and his only option.

5 OF THE SACKS WERE ON LEVIS, ANYTIME WHEN A QB HOLDS ON TO THE BALL FOR A COUNT LONGER THAN 3 DESERVES TO BE SACK, ON 3 THE BALL SHOULD BE OUT OF YOUR HANDS EITHER THROW AWAY, OR GET OUT OF THE POCKET, I COUNTED 4 ON ALL SACKS BUT 1
Most of the sacks were on third and long.

I went to the game today and was expecting to see receivers running open in this system and wanted to blame Levis for our lack of success, but in person you see how impossible it is to do what you are asking.

In the time it takes the receivers to even get 10 yards down field Levis is already sacked on third and longs.

our only option at this point is to max protect and limit the routes to 2-3 options and hope our receivers make a play, or try and sneak 5 yards on third and 10 and go on fourth or make the punt easier.

Maybe you see differently than I do, but in live action, today at least, you on third down will had no chance.

Pretty crazy at this point to say a coach Stoops & then Saban hired isn't worth a crap

The offensive line didn't give up 5 quarterback sacks.
It shouldve gave up 5 more quarterback hurries.
That changes everything.
Gosh, the offensive line is awesome.

The fact Chris Rodriguez went from 6.1 yards / carry to 4.9 this year is just a coincidence.
Last year, 206 yards on 27 carries. Yesterday, 29 for 112.

When I was watching the UGA UT game I thought the exact same thing. Compared to UGA, Levis rarely has a clean pocket. UK would be undefeated or 1 loss team with UGA's O line.

I was at the game, too, and pass pro on really bad. Anytime the defense does something fancy at all, someone breaks free. Missouri's DE would line up wide on Flax' side and just run a straight line to Levis, who doesn't step up on the pocket much. Flax was typically only quick enough to nudge the DE slightly off his trajectory. He's OK on straight up running plays but passing downs he's a turnstile.

sounds about right. I really enjoy being at the game because you get to see the play develop right in front of you instead of what the cameras show.

didn’t get to see any pass plays develop yesterday unless it was Missouri or that first touchdown pass it seemed.

it was look at one receiver and then back at will laying on the ground.

Then between our OL and OC they don't put CROD on the wk side with flax to chip .....I don't get it.

When you watch that game two things should've jumped way out:

1) nearly every big pass play, stetson climber the pocket to buy time then delivered a strike. Our QB drops back and stands there while getting engulfed. When he was healthy he'd try to escape laterally and get chased down. Qbs in the pocket should always work up, never out.

2) after Bennet bought time and made the right throw enough times, UT backed off. At least for their typical approach.

We are constantly blitzed because we can't handle it. I pointed this out the first game of the season and warned we'd see it till we made people pay. We never have except vs MSU.

We have an OL that's mediocre at best in pass pro. We also have a QB with zero presnap recognition, a super slow decision maker, and awful pocket presence.

That's a brutal combo.

This clip sums up nearly every sack yesterday. We had it blocked. Wiiiiide open field to climb the pocket. Instead he slid straight into the overload blitz/stunt that we had blocked.

Geez.
Did you see Horsey #68 on that play? He was pushed right back into Levis. His man was getting a sack no matter what decision Levis was going to make.

He had all kinds of green to step up and buy time. If he steps up, that rusher runs right by him and is no threat. Usually he stands there and gives them a stationary target. This time even worse he slid right to them.

Contrast this play. Way worse protection here. Climbs the pocket, buys time, delivers.

He can do it. We see flashes. He is just wildly inconsistent.

Look at my other post. He can do it. On occasion he does it. He's just wildly inconsistent.
He either knows to step up or not period! If he doesnt step up consistently it's on the coaches to develop him! They are talking about skank being a QB GURU he's not anywhere near that in my opinion period ! Has he looked like it to anyone ? I would love to know ?

Spot on with respect to the bull rush up the middle that gives Levis nowhere to go. The other obvious point is he can't really tuck and run with his current physical condition.

Have seen the RG and RT get beat several times because they are too slow. Have seen the RT have several false starts, two against MO. Have seen the LT get physically overwhelmed a few times. Use to we didn't notice a lot of those things happening over and over. And those things aren't even including the lack of big holes they create for a runner. If these guys are this bad compared to what we have had the last several years I cringe to think about the possibility that those 12 OL on the bench must be even worse at this stage.

I disagree. If he steps up Rodrigues is open.

He could throw that without even stepping up. He puts his body through so much unnecessary punishment. He's literally hit every drop back either by poor blocking, holding the ball too long, or not stepping up.

I don't know how his body holds up

Could be but Alabama's line hasn't exactly been to Bama's standard this year and you know there's talent there.
yes and it's also difficult to tell if they've totally adjusted their recruiting at that spot to the way that they play. and while they have really good receivers they don't have to uber elite guys they've had in recent seasons.

Bama's rushing stats are pretty strong: 202 ypg and 5+ ypc. Their line has not quite lived up to expectations but it's still been pretty good. Give Yenser all 4- and 5-star talent and he may be a lot better than we think. But, the OL needs some major help.

Someone posted a couple of weeks ago a suggestion about hiring Mike Munchak as a consultant and I really like that idea. He's been a recognized NFL OL guru for many years. Dermonti Dawson as consultant? Other former UK OL with NFL experience? Need someone to make serious improvements between now and next season. I'd give Yenser another year but give him some help, also, and see where we are then.

I don't think they gained anything from last year. I remember gamecock fans saying Wolford stunk. He was their Oline coach. I tend to believe it. Last year they didn't develop anyone. I am inclined to think Wolford was just collecting a paycheck. We've been spoiled with Schlarman.

Under Schlarman they could not pass block either. If Wolford was so bad you would see a tremendous talent development right now and see it pick up week to week.

Are you seeing that

Yeah....I get it we hated the way Wolford left UK....but he clearly is better Oline coach than Yenser. Yenser is a terrible. Stoops just hired some guys as they had NFL on their resume....and didn't see if they were actually good coaches.

If you look at his resume I would of never hired him. He was just an assistant to the the OL coach.
Last OL coaching jobs he had was at Kansas and then before that California. Both of those programs sucked major ass. And we hired the guy to turn our line into what they were running ..... garbage

Why not hire a guy who has coached at the power 5 level and succeeded? Or had SEC experience?

They pass blocked just fine. The only one with any issue was Terry Wilson. He had all the same issues as will, with barely any of the positives. Plus he didn't have any wr who could get open vs man.

Scan plainly stated in an interview before the season started that the number 1 reason he wanted to limit Wills running is because, “a quarterback will never learn to go through his progressions if he pulls the ball down and runs when his primary target isn’t open“.
Then he added “ plus there’s the injury factor “.

They've been open and consistent about this since day 1. I don't understand how fans continue to think it's some conspiracy.

Now to scangs point, it would've been nice if coen would've forced this last year with a much better OL. It would've effected offensive output to an extent, but early on in the sec our offense was awful anyway.

Will did the same damn thing last year . It’s ridiculous to think Will has zero responsibility Or weaknesses.

I agree . But could you imagine the heads exploding if someone mentioned that even a tiny part of our problem could be placed on Coen ? But I have the same stance here as I do with our basketball coach. Do what is best for the team to win TODAY. Maybe it would pay off if he had 3 yrs to coach Will , but he doesn’t. Let the damn NFL worry about developing Wills pocket presence.
