Would you support an NBA team in Louisville?

What if the team colors were red? That would be a deal killer for me.

Colors would have to be red, white and blue.

For those talking about the Squirt Center lease, it would have to be totally reworked. Right now as I understand it UL plays MBB, WBB and WVolleyball(!) there and they have rights to the arena both the day before and the day after each scheduled game. This was done to keep UK from scheduling any games in this taxpayer funded albatross.

I would love to see NBA in Louisville. Went to games with the old Ky team in ABA. I would just hate to drive and park in the downtown area. I'd hate to have my cars tires stolen and car vandalized. There are thugs down there. And not just on the the team.

Support is a word that is tossed around but what does it mean. Would you buy the team gear, watch them on TV and go to a few games a year? If that's the support you mean then I think you would find plenty who would support the team.

If you mean support the team as in buy season tickets or season ticket packages, then you're going to find a little less support. The people who can afford NBA tickets likely already have UK or UL season tickets in either football, basketball, or both. I doubt most could afford to add on Season tickets and if they had to make a choice, they are probably going to pick UK/UL. Businesses would have to make choices for boxes and advertising. There isn't a lot of corporate money in Louisville to begin with. The third point that is very rarely brought up is TV market size. There are smaller TV markets with NBA teams (New Orleans) and some slightly bigger than Louisville but in the same range. (OKC, Memphis) But with Indianapolis just an 1 1/2 away would the NBA want to fight a market share for what is already a fight in this area.

I don't think Louisville has ever been a serious contender for an NBA francise and I don't know if they ever will be until some big things change in the city.

Or any Big 4 pro sports team? Just wondering if what Cat fans would do. I am inclined to say yes.

My pro town is St. Louis. I'd kill for them to get the Hawks back. But only hockey and baseball are happening.

If Lousville got a pro team is would absolutely be my team, ONLY if it was called Kentucky. If they names it Lousiville no way. Of course, they wouldn't.

The Kentucky Thoroughbreds would be f'ing awesome.

Blue and red, called the Kentucky thoroughbreads, and I'm all in. Tickets, gear. The works.

Draft UK players like Charlotte does, and I'm double in.

We need one in Louisville.

It would damage Lil Brothel badly but that is too bad.

The Grizzlies have destroyed the Memphis Tigers. They went from averaging 15,000 in down years to 5,000 now. They cannot compete in the city anymore. They're renegotiating the deal with the FedEx forum.

The same thing would await Lousiville. I hope it happens.

It's a slippery slope. Of course we would support a pro team from KY. The thing most don't figure are games and attendance. Would UK fans UL fans show up to two games a week during college basketball season after attending a college game.
Our rivalry is one of the best if not the best of late. I just don't see college basketball fans in KY showing up on a consistent basis during cbb season. In April maybe a different story. And also powers that be will not want to
Take away from college attendance in any way even if it's small

I live in Lexington and would be a much happier with a team in Cincy. I think the Reds and Bengals do a really nice job of recognizing how many fans they have in our state.

I don't care about colors or the name. It would have to be something objectively ugly, or a terrible name. I personally would just bring back the Colonels. I would love to have a pro basketball team here. I question if people would support a bad team, especially during basketball season.

I would love to see the NBA in Cincinnati, but it's not viable for two reasons. The stadium here is inadequate. Also, there is a perception that a market the size of Cincinnati can only support two major professional teams. I don't believe that there is any metro area smaller than Cincinnati with three major league teams.

Louisville, on the other hand, is one of the larger metro areas without any major league teams. And the YUM is a NBA arena, though it hurts that UofLoL has some kind of priority in it.

I would definitely support a Louisville team, would especially like it if they had a few games a year in Rupp.

No. The only major pro sport I like is NFL and I've already got my team. Other than that I don't enjoy NBA, NHL, or MLB. I just don't care for hockey but the other two let the players run the asylum. NFL by the nature of football forces more team play while the others are more about the individual superstars.

College Basketball -> College Football -> NFL -> NBA Playoffs conference championship on is also okay, and other than that The World Cups Women more so than the men.

Best chance of my support for a pro team in KY would be MLS but I generally avoid Louisville entirely as I hate the city so only if it was Another city which really could only be Lexington. But I don't see that happening in the near future.

Sure. And I live in Phoenix.
Has Louisville tried to get an expansion NBA team or move a team?
Or does Jurich have the whole city on lockdown?
When it was brought up in the past I know UL was actively opposed to the idea. I believe it was a team moving at the time and they didn't want any part of sharing the bucket or limelight.

Don't think the city of Louisville can support a pro team...

established franchises in bigger richer cities don't sell out as it is...

now is not the time to be getting into the expansion team business...city is in debt with Yum as it is...don't need to be building another stadium...

Call them the Kentucky anythings and I'm more likely to be behind them than if they have Louisville in front of their name.

That alone would make me inclined to support the idea of the NBA team being there.

Yes, I would like one in KY. I'm just old enough to barely remember the Colonels. I don't have a favorite team now(check out UK's players) but it would be neat to have a team to really cheer for in the NBA. And it be highly likely that a former UK player would be on the roster with the high number of UK players in the league. How about Pat Riley for GM too?
