Mason seems to lack any kind of leadership skills whatsoever. His team was young last season and he was set up for a somewhat disappointing season from the beginning, but he brought some of it on himself. His failure to name a quarterback was probably the worst coaching decision, but there were many. Getting scared and firing all of his assistants after the season was another example of overreacting and a lack of leadership. His inability to delegate and his reputation as a micro-manager just add to it all. He will make someone a great DC in a year or two.
Can't argue about Mason and his leadership skills or lack of. Some guys are just meant to be great coordinators. I was surprised how bad their qb play was, the kid who came in and played against UGA a couple years ago was pretty good, maybe a combination of him being decent and us not being very good. Vandy is a tough place to win, no tradition at all, tough academics, facilities that maybe aren't up to everyone else in the conference. That's why Franklin's accomplishments there were as impressive as they were, I didn't care for him but he was a dang good coach. If he can recruit at near the level of tOSU he will cause Urban to have more health issues.
