WKU vs Vandy

Mason seems to lack any kind of leadership skills whatsoever. His team was young last season and he was set up for a somewhat disappointing season from the beginning, but he brought some of it on himself. His failure to name a quarterback was probably the worst coaching decision, but there were many. Getting scared and firing all of his assistants after the season was another example of overreacting and a lack of leadership. His inability to delegate and his reputation as a micro-manager just add to it all. He will make someone a great DC in a year or two.

Can't argue about Mason and his leadership skills or lack of. Some guys are just meant to be great coordinators. I was surprised how bad their qb play was, the kid who came in and played against UGA a couple years ago was pretty good, maybe a combination of him being decent and us not being very good. Vandy is a tough place to win, no tradition at all, tough academics, facilities that maybe aren't up to everyone else in the conference. That's why Franklin's accomplishments there were as impressive as they were, I didn't care for him but he was a dang good coach. If he can recruit at near the level of tOSU he will cause Urban to have more health issues.

I can't believe how embarrassing it is that we've lost twice to WKU in recent years. I would never have imagined that UK football could drop that low as a program. Seriously is pathetic what Mitch Barnhart allowed.

It's going to be a long night for Vandy. WKU goes for 500+ yards of total offense.

WKU 49
Vandy 35

I actually do...

First game of the year with a lame duck coach.

I think WKU will run circles around Vandy.
'
I guess they could if VU turns the ball over a bunch of times or has some turnovers for points. Otherwise I don't see them scoring that many, the only teams who did that against them last year pretty decent teams, other than USC.

I know one thing...

If WKU does roll them, then it's going to be a long ugly season for Vandy.

Don't think Vandy gets rolled. Matter of I'm picking Vandy. Head coach knows defense and brought in a good o. c.! Far as WKU recent wins over The Cats-I give all the credit to Joker.

Vandy has some SEC bodies on the defensive side of the ball. I expect WKU to turn the ball over. If Vandy can mount a rushing attack I look for them to win a close game.

Love me some Devils, they have a big game hosting Owensboro Catholic Friday.
Vandy 35
WKU 31
2 OVERTIMES.

WKU should win by 10 points.

If you want to watch a fun offense watch the WKU no huddle, throw the ball all over the field and run Leon Allen when they are gassed offense. They have 3 offensive players who could start for a lot of Power 5 teams (QB Doughty, RB Allen, WR Dangerfield)

im waiting to see what vandy actually looks like this year. dont know how much of last season was mason or just a change in systems and square peg round hole type thing. i do know franklin brought in some talent for a few years and those guys are still there. their D should be better this year and they have qb's who are at least rated well so they've got stuff to work with. we'll see though. vandy could be a lot better this year and everyone is just assuming they won't be. no way i'd bet this game.

You're right. WKU whipped us strength wise, speed wise and in preparation. The game in Nashville was much worse for us than the score indicated.

Many wanted to deny that WKU had the better players but I suspect they weren't at the game and didn't see or hear the hits. Their linebacker, Jefferson I believe, was a man among boys.

Same things would not happen now since someone decided that football really mattered.

The linebacker was Andrew Jackson. Wrong president haha

Yes, overall WKU did have a better roster when we played them last. I was there. That was then, this is now.

WKU is a sexy upset pick because they put up playstation numbers on offense. But, I think this is a game of significant importance to Derek Mason and he probably prepared for this just like WKU did...virtually all off-season. I pick the Dores in a close win.

Both of these teams are going to have long seasons if they continue to play like this.

3rd and goal for Vandy at the 2 right now. 40 seconds remaining. Need a score and a 2 point conversion to force OT.

Vandy's defense seems solid but their offense is atrocious.

Still a dumpster fire in Nashville.

I hate to compare Derek Mason to Joker Phillips for obvious reasons, but listening to Masons post game comments on SEC network reminds me so much of Joker. He kept saying thinks like "staying the course" and "moving forward". Ughhhhhhh. At least Vandy sucks again!
