With Hammmy D back, how many losses ya think?

10 losses would be a good season for this inexperienced team. But we will get 5 or 6 players drafted in 2018 so we can claim number one again for draftees. That is very important to our program,

Of course it is. It's nice to know someone else recognizes that. This team is way to good defensively to lose 10. Maybe Cal's longest most athletic team ever. Every guy is considered a good defender Diallo an Vanderbilt considered Elite defenders. Only other time we were this young was 14 went to the championship game and if WCS doesn't get hurt we win a title. This year's team is way better defensively and has way more depth than that one who had a former walk on on the 8 man rotation. Heck honestly this past season was pretty much as green and if it not for higgins we probably win it all this year. Plus it was a senior who didn't stay with his man and left him wide open on the game winning shot vs UNC.

So we keep getting guys drafted and end up in a final four at a fifty percent clip. Eventually we will catch a break on injuries and cut down the nets agian soon cause it has been injuries and the NCAA declaring Kanter ineligible that has kept us from. Winning one or two more titles not inexperience.

Why not make it a positive statement? Instead of asking how many losses let's ask how many wins. That way people start saying easily over 20!

Depends on chemistry and the development of the bigs. 6-7 losses is what I am thinking, but could easily be under 5 as well if SKJ and Richards step up.

The most intriguing thing about this team, IMO, is the backcourt. Diallo with his cutthroat scoring instincts and Green with his pass first mentality and natural leadership...they complement each other as well as any backcourt tandem I can recall in recent memory. Murray and Ulis come to mind as a comparison. It's going to be special to watch.

This duo should also have some help in the paint, unlike the Ulis/Murray squad.

Not feeling it this year. No idea on how many losses I have no idea what to expect from these players it's same old song new year I bet though by the end of the season I will be singing the same song "We are 1 player short"....

Everyone needs to save this post so when we lose our 5th or 6th game everybody isn't looking for Cals replacement.

I think it's just too hard to predict. Will our class gel from the jump or will it take another calipari deconstruction followed by reshaping them to his vision? We will have the length and athleticism to compete with anyone so if things click early you could see as few as 4-5 losses. Or it could take a while and we see 7-9 losses potentially. Either way this should be a fun group to watch, per usual.

4-7. Backcourt will take time to settle in for big non conference games and on the road in the SEC. However, by March we will be consider one of if not the favorite to win it.

I was pretty close last year. I said 3-5 losses for the regular season. I think we hit 3-4 instead of 5 if Gabriel didn't have such big adjustments. In retrospect, he probably should have been a 30-40th recruit.

We have so much depth next year. We can afford a recruit to not figure it out, and have someone else step in. That said, we don't have a true superstar like Fox or Monk were. Maybe Diallo shows out, Maybe Knox of JV. Definite possibility.

I'm gonna go with the same. I think 3-5 losses.
Whatever could be lacking in star power, I think we more than make up for in overall talent/depth. Next season is an extremely talented 8 man rotation with 2 others getting mins depending on game situations.
Although we will be young, Cal can have productive inter squad scrimmages to get guys adapted. The best competition they face will be each other in practice.

3 or 4 losses. Not trying to start anything but even any coach will win big with them. Something wrong if we lose 6 or more.

Good points. I'm trying to stay in the middle. I'm going to assume we have 1 or 2 players who struggle in their first season. SKJ and Gabriel did last year, Willis struggled for a while, we always seem to have one or two. So I'm not going to assume we don't have a few.

But the positive is that we are redundant at so many positions. We can afford to have a guy like JV or Washington or Knox struggle.. because we have pieces we can interchange. Unlike last year, where we really could have used a more seasoned Gabriel to help out in the frontcourt.

This team will struggle in Jan-mid-Feb & our our fanbase will be in meltdown mode, calling for Cal's head...etc...as usual. But by March we'll be in position to make a run.

6-10 losses is a good bet

Yeah, I don't see 10 losses. We've only lost 10 games twice under Cal, one of those was with one of the most impacting injuries in the last decade by losing Noel.

That said, There's a good chance we lose at WVU. They return all but two players basically, from an already deep team. That might make me move my prediction back to 4-6 losses.
