First let me preface this by saying I am not one who calls for kids to play because they are KY kids. I do not even believe that Willis should be playing equal minutes of anyone else on the team.

My question/statement is this though:

With Hawkins out it leaves the platoon of Harrison Harrison WCS and Towns without a man. Hawkins was playing a guard spot last game and Andrew was still the PG, with Dominique out today how on earth does it not make sense to have:

Harrison
Harrison
Willis
Towns
WCS

If anything just to preserve the at that we saw this last game and to keep both platoons in tact. Cal even said he didn't much like having to decide what man to keep in when he was only playing 9.

So why not?

It doesn't make sense if Cal thinks those minutes would be more productive being spread out between Ulis, Harrison, Harrison, and Booker. Pretty simple really.

Does he think the team will play better and have a better chance of winning with Willis in the platoon, or does he think we will play better and have a better chance of winning by giving the other guards more minutes? His view on that will be evident based on who plays. If it isn't Willis, then he thinks Willis is a detriment rather than a benefit at this point.

To answer your question as to why not, I think its because willis simply isnt all too great or deserving of big PT yet

Bc willis isn't that good, what leads you to believe he is? Alabama is pretty athletic, willis is not.

These are good reasons - the platoons seem to have better chemistry. We've struggled when getting out of them.

Also, Willis can hit from outside and feed the post.

I understand he's not that tough on D but I still would like to see him play.

Well, as I stated on another post, Cal himself said that Dom beat out Willis for the open position in the platoon. So, that would lead me to believe that Cal was at least considering Willis for the position opening. So, with Dom now out it would make sense to me that Cal would plug Willis into the spot in order to maintain the platoon system, which has seemingly been rather successful. I don't know if Cal will follow this logic, but it certainly makes sense to me. I guess we'll find out pretty shortly whether or not that is the road he'll take.

Exactly comeback. For the EJ comment...come on. Willis isn't a producer but he is far above EJ.

Mainly asked to see if people though he would preserve the platoon with Willis or go back to 9. Dominique isn't going to give you more than what maybe keeping Aaron or Booker in with another platoon either but Cal did it because he wanted to go back to the platoons and IT WORKED. We will see what happens in about 10 minutes I guess.

This is going to be a tough game no matter what. I am going to CRINGE if I hear people on here perpetrating the myth that not playing Derek Willis is why it was not a blowout.

And it worked also because we were playing Missouri dude. The 9 man rotation worked well against UNC, UCLA and UL. Lets not act like playing 9 has been some unmitigated disaster against every team we played.

Why today? He's not good enough, we just aren't going to play him just because. He's got two yrs to get better

Defense. If he was as good a defender as Hawkins is he'd have gotten minutes. Just relax and be patient. Willis will get his chance. Not every thing is now, now, now.

No joke.......we are undefeated. Willis will, get his, shot. Cal,will, play him if he thinks he is,ready

Idk how we are winning so far without Willis.

And he didn't play well at all! Now we know why he wasn't in the platoon. He really looked nervous I thought.
Well no shit, if you sat on the bench most of time and all of a sudden you get some meaningful minutes you would be nervous too.
