That is a subject for another thread.
If my AD has given me 9 million, is tolerant of 7-5 seasons, the legality of the communication is not relevant: Stoops apparent desire to flip to A & M is the issue.
THAT should have infuriated Barnhart, and I bet it did.
Nope. It's a business, and believe it or not, Mitch loves football more than basketball as a sport. Just talked to a buddy that talked to him quite a bit for about 10 years. Mitch and his family get together to play a family football game every year because they love football. Winning in football means a LOT to the UK AD.
Why the fk would Barnhart be "infuriated"? Lol
People here have done nothing but btch and moan about Stoops for 95% of 12 years. They had a down year last year and everyone was (again) calling for him to be fired. If you're the AD, wouldn't you be just fine with it if you could have the btchfest temporarily subside for a year? If he left for A&M and we could've hired Sumrall, WTF would people have to btch about?
Yall need to make up your minds and stick to your decisions. (Not that the LOD UK fans have been able to do that the last 20+ years.)
The LOD btch that he needs to leave, but get PSSED if he talks to other programs about their openings.
The LOD btch if he gets an extension, but freak out if he's on someone's short list of candidates.
THE LOD goes apesht if he reaches contract incentive goals, saying he's paid too much, but then flip their lids when he doesn't reach those goals that he needs to be fired.
We're recruiting better than we ever have over a 5 year stretch much less 10, and not just in the state of KY, yet the LOD want to throw that all away to take a chance on someone that's not coach been a head coach at a power 5 level, much less at a P5 also ran U with a small recruiting base. SIMPLY BECAUSE HE PLAYED AT UK, AND because they somehow think he won't leave for an Auburn, LSU, or FSU if he has some success here. He's from Alabama.
It's delusional, but not surprising.
Here's a real life example for you-
5 UK "fans" were talking about the upcoming football season one year. They all said we'd suck and swore they knew what they were talking about. They were being loud about it at a local restaurant. Couldn't name more than 5 players on the team. One of the guys at their table told them they were FOS and didn't know what they were talking about. He bet one of them a dinner at Tony's in Lexington that they'd win 9 or 10 games. Both of them told him to FkOff, that he was too drunk too early in the day.
So he told them BOTH he'd take them to Tony's if the Cats didn't win 9 games. Told them they'd win AT Florida. They agreed to the bet and just laid into him the rest of their lunch break.
When the Cats reached 9 wins that season, I went back to lunch to see what they'd all say now. Fckin cheap ask mthrfkrs wouldn't look him in the eye, and ignored him or drowned him out every time he spoke. Finally someone else at their table mentioned that the Cats had won 9 games, and the two "fans" told him to FO, that they wouldn't honor the bet.
THAT is THE LOD of UK football. They actually prefer to btch rather than to celebrate. Prefer to talk sht about their team, rather than support it. First loss the sorry mthrs are "at least there's UK basketball" just like they were suburban exwives complaining about their ex's new girlfriend while they're waiting for some prince to come sweep them off their swollen feet and Bachelorette loving, hemorrhoidal cheeks. They welch on bets, and double down when they're shown their arguments are contradictory and false.
.........
Phrasing matters.
The AD isn't GIVING SHT to anyone. There's a fkn contract that stipulates what he is REQUIRED TO PAY someone for reaching certain benchmarks that were mutually agreed to in writing.
"THAT should have infuriated Barnhart, and I bet it did."
LmAO! That's the biggest fkn joke you've ever told on here, and you usually have a good sense of humor. Absolutely hilarious
If it pissed Barnhart off, and as insinuated if not insisted here, he didn't allow Stoops to talk to A&M in the first place, he could fire him at any point after that for breach of contract and walk away without a buyout being paid. You think he wouldn't have fired Stoops and hired Sumrall by now, if he had that breach of contract in his pocket and he was "furious" about it?
Tell me another story. This first one was entertaining
