Will We Have Robinson or Butler on Wednesday?

It does look like Robinson is in worse condition. I'll be fine as long as we can get him back for the NCAA tournament. I'll scratch everything from now until then to get him back and healthy enough to play like he can. Really needing Lamont and Jaxson is a heartbreaking thing to deal with, not having them available.

Just want to see them all get healthy, however soon they can. Will accept the results and move on. Life.

Agreed. None of these games are must-win at the end of the day. We are definitely got getting a double bye in the SEC tournament and we are going to wind up a 3-6 seed regardless of what happens the rest of the regular season. What you can’t have happen is lose one of these crucial players for the rest of the year.

They’ll be back imo.
Kerr trying to get a medical red shirt and the way they are talking about get a 3rd opinion on Jaxon Robinson's wrist that don't sound good considering we're in Feb and March madness (3 weeks away) is right around the corner. Butler is still a ? but the way he has been beaten up and didn't have time to heal when he got back on the floor I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't come back either.

Sucks to see many injuries. If we are completely healthy we probably have at least three more wins right now. Completely healthy we could probably get a sweet sixteen with possible elite eight. In the situation we are in now, be lucky to win round one. Tough for team to lose PG 1 and 2, lose best scorer, and have shell of another starter. Really amazing what Mark has cobbled together and keep this team in the top 25, with 6 wins against that same top 25. Miracle worker.

I still don't even know how all these players ended up injured
Refs allowed our players to be repeatedly thrown to the court without calling fouls, so our opponents felt free to continue to push to see how much violence the refs would allow. That's it. That's the why for all of them. That's why Butler is re-injured and that's why Robinson further injured his wrist. We are lucky Perry didn't get knocked unconscious in that last game (no foul!).

Hate to tell ya the reality Seth, but Butler re-injured his shoulder diving for a loose ball. And Robinson wasn't thrown to the court, either. Cool story, tho.

Some of you and your referee obsession is disturbing. Unless of course your post was in jest. But I doubt that's the case.

No significant difference between 4/5. Would rather have a 6 and be healthy.
4 wins the first game almost 80% of the time. 5 only wins it around 67%.

Varies based on matchups, obviously, but historically speaking you would much rather be a 4.

For what it’s worth, a couple of 4s have also gone on to win the National title.

I would say vandy and LSU are

Butler is the key offensively and defensively. We can cover Robinson’s injury easier than we can Butler’s. Without Butler, we are just a sieve on defense and we can’t penetrate enough on offense to create space for the shooters. That is why Pope proclaimed him the “Heart of the Team.”

It depends on what you consider a must-win game. Our ticket to the dance is already safe. Getting healthy is and should be the priority right now.
19-12 looks a lot better than 17-14 does. I think those 2 are vital because you can’t be going into the SEC tourney on a 7 game losing streak

Pope said Robinson was injured by Garrison in practice when they were putting more emphasis on defense and being more physical. We know what happened with Butler (initial hard fall against TAMU then the re-aggravation against UT).

I’d argue 17-14 and 19-12 are both largely irrelevant at this point. Neither looks great but this team has been through the ringer. I care more about going say 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 and 6-0 (not happening) rather than making it all the way to 19 wins.

Moral of the story: Pope needs to use all 15 scholarships next year. People make the point that scholarships 12-15 become largely irrelevant, but they forget what injuries do the composition of your practice rosters. You need bodies to continue to have high-level practice schemes.

G - Portal/Lewis/Perry
G - Johnson/Green/Chandler
F - Oweh/Portal/Noah
F - Portal/Portal
C - Garrison/Moreno/Portal

We need massive depth next year to make sure this never happens again.

Butler re-injured his shoulder diving after the ball trying to make a steal. Refs had nothing to do with it.

If we are 17 and 14 and lose first sec tournament game to be 17 and 15 our seeds gonna be atrocious.

I guess it’s more they need to win some instead of losing 7 straight.
Oh trust me I want to win. I want to win every game every time…obsessively in fact. But with the schedule we play, there really aren’t any games left I’d consider a must win. We are kind of playing with house money at this point given the ridiculous number of bizarre injuries

Hopefully, we don’t have to wait and see that. We will at least win some of these. You have to remember this is the greatest conference in CBB history and we have some of the best wins out there…and the committee is taken injuries into consideration
The most likely scenario is they feed off the home crowd and grind out 2 wins at home against vandy & LSU, and steal one of the others

Man, I don't know if we make it at all going 17-14. That's pretty bad even considering our top wins. I suppose we could win the SEC tourney and get in. That adds to the win totals. Plus the fact we probably can t win the sec tourney this year with this group makes it a moot point.
I think we have to at least win 2 more to be safe.

Boloney. Multiple teams made it with that many losses with at large bids and didn’t play nearly the gauntlet we did.

They put Oklahoma in at 17-14 a couple of yrs ago and they didn’t have nearly the good wins Kentucky does. Now I agree we need to get 2 to be 100 percent safe but I think they are in

Thank you for remembering that. I posted a link above from the NCAA website that should remove any doubt about whether we are making the tournament. That’s why resting guys is important at this point.

with few recruits this team is doomed. Injuries has sunk this years team because with a full roster UK can beat anyone. Its impossible to play with no pointguard especially a team that relies on full motion offense. IMHO this season depends on Perry and Noah. Freshman or not they both are shooters and scorers and have to take over the end of games and play to win.

Good news. i was just thinking i couldn't remember a P5 team getting in with a 17-14 record. Thanks for posting. Hope we can just win a couple and remove any doubt.
my pleasure. Notice the 2001 Georgia team went only 16-14 and got in as a 9 seed. That’s why I’m saying we, at the absolute bare minimum will wind up a 7 but almost certainly in the 3-6 range
