Clinic on how not to close a game.

I'm still expecting 9-9 at best and probably likely 8-10 without Robinson and Butler.

Five or six seed in the tournament.

Got to get those two guys back. I also wish they would either give us an update on if Kriisa is done for the year or that he has a chance to come back. The uncertainty is part of the growing reason BBN is in anxiety mode right now.

I wasn’t really even trying to put this one on Pope. At some point you have to be able to pass the ball and block out and not make silly fouls. Players take a lot of the blame on this one. Pope was in udder disbelief from some of the boneheaded things that took place.

Amari Williams just needs to hit free throws. 5/11 is just unacceptable. If he hits 7/11 and Oweh goes 5/5 instead of 3/5 - tie game.

Turnovers, no block outs, bad shots, not tough with the ball. Travis Perry should not be guarding Johnson with the game on the line. And if he get stuck on him you double him. As much as I like this team they are really frustrating. I get it no Butler or Robinson but you had the game in hand and give it away.
At least perry tried to guard his man. Williams did his usual matador defense and rebounding. It's one thing to just not be able to guard. It's quite another to refuse to try.

Yea, what this team could desperately use is a leader on the court who will get in guys’ asses when they do all the stupid BS we did down the stretch. Pope’s not going to, but I think it would help like crazy if we had someone like Ulis out there to lead the guys.

Williams missed 6 out of his last 8 FT's he took after making his first 3. That really hurt.
Yes. Amari played very well, but those misses certainly hurt. He's a career 62.8% shooter from the line, hitting 61.8% for us this year. He was 5-11 for the game, but needed to do better. However, we must have reasonable expectations from him at the line.
GO CATS !!

What amazes me most about him is that he does not seem able to play extended minutes. He is averaging 21.7 minutes per game for us and has averaged only 21.0 for his entire career. This is perplexing, especially when you consider his mpg at Drexel. Clearly, he appears to have some type of a stamina problem. Seems a bit odd to me ... we need more quality minutes from him.

Team played like they were missing something. Maybe a legit PG? Maybe arguably their best player? Maybe three 5th year Seniors?

But no excuses, that team, even with two unproven Freshmen heavily involved and playing out of position at times, should have been just as good as the veterans and should have finished that game off.

We need to quit with the excuses. This is Kentucky. Even if we start five walkons, we should win by 20+ every game.

If you disagree, you’re not a real Kentucky fan!

Missing out top-3 PGs didn’t keep us from getting a lead heading toward the final TV TO. The team simply sucked the last 4 mins.
This is why I have been posting about this game. We get whipped due to perry/Noah not being able to compete I can take that! But this was simply finishing out a game you had in the bag. Those 2 played good enough to win. I felt like there were guys put in the wrong position. For a example.

1. Forget the exact time, but perry ends up trying to to make a play and ends up shooting a pull up 12' over a defender in the paint! Not his game! Should've been oweh! With perry Noah ready for a pass to shoot a 3 on the wing!

2. In crunch time you need a bucket, call a timeout and run a play to either get Williams/oweh to the rim, with shooters (Brea,Noah, perry, Almanor) on the wing. It's like Pope froze in the last 2.5 minutes! And they fell apart.

The moment was to big for perry! "That's no knock on him". He will be a very serviceable and valuable piece for the next 3 years! But he was sort of left hanging! I noticed his look on his face and he was taking it pretty hard! I'm not critizing him. But Pope needs to take that pressure off of him!
Let him do what he does best, "shoot"
I was actually encouraged by those 2 play the past several games. Man can they shoot!

Oweh, Perry, and Noah all three guarded Johnson.. Noah definitely done it better of the three. Outside of Butler they wasn’t a kid on the roster that was doing anything with Johnson. It’s that damn simple
