Will Stoops be here next year?

By the end of this season, where would he go? We will be 8-4 at best, 7-5 more likely (we have dropped one we shouldn’t have and one we never should have, there will be more), 6-6 worst case. He had his chance this off-season and didn’t take it. Kentucky isn’t firing him. Come on. No chance, but nowhere that is a step up will be wooing him now either, and he definitely isn’t going to make more money anywhere that would take him. Time to settle in and collect that paycheck if he has Cal’s mindset or get back to work and re-examine some things if he is better than that.

Stoops is the perfect coach for UK. He's really not a head coach. There's a reason he was a career assistant. But he recruits very well. He has actual SEC caliber athletes on the field. UK is no longer a homecoming opponent. He wins enough to go to a bowl game, however minor, every year. He keeps us off probation. Which is very important to keep the SEC monies flowing in. He's a good, likeable guy in interviews.

Football season ends in Ky on Oct 15th. Stoops has put the UK football team in a good place as a welcome distraction until the main event can take over.

He should get a lifetime contract. He is the gold standard for UK football. This is as good as it gets. Many won't realize this until Stoops is gone.

I just hope this ends the statue discussion……thought it was ridiculous then!

The way Stoops likes to play he's a good fit for the big ten. I do like him as our coach and would like for him to be successful here.

I wouldn't be disappointed.

But, it won't be a step up .. no one higher than us will accept his in game ability. They won't want a 10 year build to be mediocre. They'll want a heupel type build..or a kiffin..

No one at a big time program wants a coach that can't call a fricken play before the play clock hits zero while down 2 scores. It's laughable.

They just said on the postgame show that this KY team has allowed 25 sacks and that’s the most allowed by any SEC team in the last 15 years. This O LINE is absolutely horrible. How did it get this bad?
Bad recruiting......paging Vince Marrow to get on twitter and tell everyone how awesome everything is

I’m more bothered about the first round QB that was out with an ouchie on his toe that just got 1.5 million reasons to lead his team after a loss.

Do not shit talk Will Levis for sitting out last night, and I’ll just leave it at that.

This is why I never understood the panic about Stoops going to another job. He’s a mediocre coach, could UK do worse…..possibly, could they do better….possibly.

Stoops is a consistent 7-5 coach…..some years he’ll win 8 or 9, some years he’ll win 5 or 6.

I’m hoping so, but he may feel he’s reached a ceiling at UK. UK is always going to be behind other top level SEC schools in recruiting, the Usage of NIL seems to be tight, and the National perception will always be UK is a basketball school.
If Stoops has reached a ceiling at UK, it’s due to his own coaching inadequacies. Not anything else.

Beginning to look like 7-5 is a stretch.

Well sadly the last 2 weeks has made Cals statements come true

Disagree. Injuries happen and have no doubt cost UK a title or two under Calipari in 2014 and 2015 and sure impacted the nose dive end to last season.

Cal shouldn't have said what he said and I still think the faux outrage was played up as it was a boring time of year otherwise.

The SEC in football is too tough to overcome an injury to your best player sometimes. Hell, Bama almost lost last night without their stud qb. Bama has the depth to eek it out though while UK doesn't.

We're better than we are playing. I KNOW that because I've seen them play better. This is all lack of discipline. Not lack of talent or skill or ability.
The O line is not up to SEC snuff and neither is the overall depth.

Skill positions only mean so much if you can't block to use them and the defense doesn't have the depth to survive being on the field long.

If the offense can't very consistently move the ball the defense must fall.

Special teams slipping just makes it a when it rains it pours scenario.

This is now a very deliberately paced version of a good Mumme team but with a worse O Line.

About anything over 5 or 6 wins is all Levis.

The school we need to compare ourselves to is Tennessee. For obvious reasons. However, the biggest hurdle now is going to be NIL. UT has numerous extremely wealthy boosters who love to support UT football. UK doesn’t have that luxury. Time will tell how much impact it will have for each school, but it definitely doesn’t favor us going forward.

Uk has never been on UTs level in football and will never consistently be on it. UT has like 6 national titles they claim and even though most, even 1998, are ancient history they have more clout and history and more money as you pointed out.

No one is talking about ancient history. I’m talking about now. And going forward. Clout won’t be the difference, but money might be.

This is the point. After the first game with the O line I knew the rankings were a joke
... and though Wolford was clearly a twit, I had a bad feeling when I heard Flax raving about Yenser being a kinder, gentler coach. Sorry, but I pretty much expect a line coach to breath some fire at times, probably more often than not, but still find a way not to rate as an a$$hole.

Just a few weeks ago people were discussing the playoffs and beating Georgia and now people are willing to pack Stoops bags. We got some bipolar fans in Kentucky. Stoops has more wins than any coach ever at UK, I say we keep him. I’m more bothered about the first round QB that was out with an ouchie on his toe that just got 1.5 million reasons to lead his team after a loss.
Totally agree, but not sure I feel the same way about some recent staff additions.

Lot of these pissers and moaners here don't have a clue about Big10 football. This is the bunch who'd rather lose 45-42 than win 20-17.
This isn't true at all. I'd rather win first and foremost. But, if I'm honest, I'd rather win 45-42 than win 20-17. Ideally I'd like to win 45-17, but Stoops doesn't do that. Football is entertainment, I want to see scoring. It's part of the reason I can't stand soccer. I don't want to watch 90mins to see a 1-0 final score, BORING!!!! High scoring teams with imaginative offenses don't seem to be doing too poorly at MSU, UT and Ole Miss right now. Those programs have passed KY and their coaches didn't need 10 damn years to do it!

If you want Stoops to leave then just stop watching Kentucky Football. You all are the worst of this fan base.
Our fans are ignorant plain and simple. They get so emotional over the games that they can’t form a logical and rational thought. No one is happy about losing but the majority of the fans here taking extreme stances are just pea brained simple thinkers. Just dumb and they can’t help it.

If you feel offended by that then you are exactly who I’m referring to.

My point is they can use their history for recruiting on top of the money advantages. The best players want to go to the football schools with history and legacy. Tn is a lower tier there compared to your OSUs and Alabamas and so on but still doesn't hurt.

This was ridiculous! Does anyone still want to build a statue of him?
This is the statue that means the most
