You must have seen a different game than I did.

Wisconsin didn't beat us by just hitting 3's.

They absolutely spread us out and drove the ball.

The Harrison's and Booker couldn't stay in front of opposing guards but it didn't matter with the rim protectors we had.

Once teams started pulling our bigs away from the basket, there was no rim protection.

Once they got us back on our heels, the 3's were wide open as well.

Ole Miss found the formula and several other teams tried it.

Notre Dame almost pulled it off!

Notre Dame did beat us off the bounce a ton!! Wisconsin didn't really have anyone that could beat out guards off the bounce. We got caught on switches. Who else on here really believes a zone would have been effective against Wisconsin? We got out rebounded playing man. Would've been even worse if we played zone. We got beat because of rebounding, the three point shot and by them posting when we got caught with mis matches from switching screens. Could you imagine if Cal went zone and we still lost, after winning 38 STRAIGHT games playing man?!?! It would've been crazy!! Faaaar Cal!!

Notre Dame and Wisconsin were #2 and #1 respectfully in offensive efficiency.

Our defense that year ended up #2.

It was just a matter of their strength beating ours.

When you have as good a defense as UK, I don't think you wait till game 39 and decide hey lets try something different on D lol

Yep. Same "real key was Miller" guys are likely the ones also bitching about Humphries and Wynyard not being ready to help right now.

Say what you want but Miller was a key to that team, just like last year having some experience from the Harrisons WCS etc helped that team make history. Takes more than a few unproven Freshmen to win at a constant rate. Plus how many unibrows are out there waiting to be recruited that are willing to sacrifice what he did for that championship team? Will Cal win another most likely if we can keep him long term, may just make a run to the final 4 this year who knows.

In the game against UL in the FF Miller had 13 points 3 reb and 2 steals. Take him away from that game and we might lose.

Hell yes he will. Outside of one year in 6, we have had championship contending teams. He has came extremely close 3 other times. Really four with the 2010 team losing in the elite 8on a fluke shooting game. So yes he will, I would bet anything on it. Of course when he does, and it will be sooner than later, Zay and Cut Nets will complain that he "only" has 2 titles. Forgetting that even though we have.had 5 different coaches win titles, none besides the original has won more than one here.

I also believe this is a legitimate discussion as well

Not unless he has another team to pick him up and put him on their backs like the 2012 team

We honestly have no idea. Maybe the person that takes Miller's minutes if he isn't in there does better than 13 points 3 rebs and 2 steals. Maybe he does worse.

Point being is we have to realize what Miller was to that team.

This notion that you can't win with just a freshman team is silly IMO. Miller was the only senior on that team getting any significant minutes.

Take Hawkins away this year in the UL game and we probably lose that one. He had our last 5 points of the game with 13 in total. Had a huge three with 2:47 to go along with two FTs to seal the game.
