Why would UK allow reeves back on campus?

If he is planning on transferring, why would UK allow him back on campus to take the classes he needs to graduate?
Simply because it would be a real negative look on UK if they held him back from classes at this point. Opposing coaches would have a field day with that kind of behavior by UK. Don't think there is anything for us to gain by blocking his path.

That’s my thought as well. If the staff has any indication that he is even considering that, yank his scholarship and tell him he’s not a student-athlete at UK. If you want to graduate from UK, do it on your own dime with no access to the basketball facilities.

I don’t know what this place would be like if he got NIL $ and went on the Canada trip, to then transfer out to Memphis or Illinois next year.

Disagree. Letting a player do this would be a terrible look for Cal. It would also set a precedent for others to try this crap. Reeves could’ve entered the portal and kept his options open like the other 1000+ players. The deadline is passed, and it would be a bad move to let it happen.

If he is not getting drafted pulling out of the draft would change nothing he can still pick his team and sign with any NBA team of course if he doesn't pull out it means he can't come back to any school.

Not in Cal's eyes it wouldn't. The man does not represent the interests of the University of Kentucky men's basketball program success on the court.

The people who say "it would be a terrible look for UK" if UK were to do the RIGHT THING (tell Sharpe to play or leave, tell Reeves he is no longer on scholarship) are the problem. Either way you don't have the player contributing to your program.

Because it is the right thing to do, to let him take his classes to graduate!
Now you could make a valid argument against him being on scholarship this summer, I guess that depends on how they are described when granted. Are they from Aug 1 to July 31? If so, then you honor that too.
But I wouldn't keep open Memorial/Craft for him, he can go play pickup games at Seaton Center with other regular students.

Yeah but he does have control of the scholarship.
I would imagine the scholarship is for a year. I don't know when that year begins and ends. If it is August through July, then he probably can't pull it for just the summer portion of the year. If the year doesn't include the summer months, then I would assume Reeves won't be on scholarship if he enrolls in summer classes. Why would he need to a scholarship to pay for summer school?

So you think we should refuse to allow on campus a UK student who has been properly admitted, is in good standing, and has engaged in no misconduct … purely out of spite?

I can’t even imagine the degree of negative national publicity we get if we tried that.

Not to mention how unethical it would be for a public institution of higher learning to operate like that. I have no idea, but it might even violate some accrediting standard.

Come on man this is way less about Reeves and way more about the current culture around UK basketball. Let the kid do whatever he wants. He’s not the only one leaving.

Let's not even pretend that this shit is about higher learning any longer. It's not. I mean, I get the urgency of the situation we appear to be in, but who the F is Reeves anyway? Kentucky used to mean something. Not much these days.

Not on scholarship. . Why help him screw us?
Oh, so now it is the players screwing us!! Cal has screwed the players season after season with no shortage of fans siding with incompetent Cal blaming players for his inability to get the job done. Now, many of you are angry because the very players you trashed when you thought you no longer needed them are leveraging their options for greener pastures. Cal is destroying the program before his departure and many of you are supporting him while he does it.

Cal's groupies have no shortage of dumb ideas.

Show me one post where I have trashed ANY UK player. you can’t because I haven’t.

Nah, we can't hate on Reeves for wanting out of the UK basketball program. When I look at what Cal.is doing, I would want no oart of him being my coach.

Of course, the Illinois and Memphis coaches aren't any better.

Your desire for Cal to attempt to block a player from graduating is just the latest example of your disdain for players. They are nothing more than a tool to achieve a championship and when they no longer appear able or willing to assist in that achievement, you want them gone.
