Why players keep entering the portal after their eligibility has ended

Show Me The Money GIF

They're hoping a lawsuit or settlement could end up giving all players 5 years of eligibility.

If they are entering after they have exhausted their eligibility it is because they are keeping their options open as there is a ruling coming down soon that may offer them additional time in college.

Seems like a lottery ticket but one you don't have to pay for but probably has better odds.

Why wouldn't they? Slim beats none everytime.

When does their eligibility ever end? Seems like anymore they play forever. Louisville's football team last season had a player that I believe was in his 7th year. How long will it be before we see somebody playing college basketball or football with a PHD. Once we see this, we'll all say then that Dr. J was a doctor in name only.

Whose going to tell them no? The NCAA? LOL.
The courts. Double LOL.
Congress??? Not even gonna address that $hitshow. They are worse than the players/agents.
The only person alive who will disqualify them from playing extra years is...........Sandy Bell/MB

In case they get a 5th year ruling in their favor. Going to the portal allows them to end up in college again playing. Their former team(s) have to build their rosters with the idea that this ruling doesn't happen.

The bigger problem is the media/people who believe this bleeding heart crap about an individual case and then go on this rant of what "needs to happen" or "we demand this changes" and never think of the broader scope of how things get exploited. Look at the push back you get if you dare to suggest that anyone who plays 5 or more years shouldn't have their numbers count towards NCAA or Conference/School records. They shouldn't. If they do-put an asterisk by it. That's minor but media and kiss ass support system get infuriated by any real talk.

It's for the "kids" is the biggest pile of dog crap in any argument made in college athletics. So when Universities used to knowingly appeal to extend an investigation to the time frame to a point where the media would cry about "You can't punish this group-they didn't do anything" people fell for that crap. Then it was "Covid Years" when reality was CBB players had completed their entire regular season in 2020 and most had completed their Conference Tournaments with only the Power Conference level getting cancelled. So why was another year needed for them? How long did we play into that crap? I'm old enough to remember the "I'm moving from Insert College thousands of miles away from the relative they were supposedly moving to be near" was the angle.

Its okay to tell people to move on with their lives. These guys all got paid in CBB. Got an opportunity to at least compete to qualify for the NCAA Tournament or played in it. They are done. What about the HS prospects who want the same opportunities but are put on back burner because some 24-26 yr old wants to be a professional College athlete? Here's a simple rule to follow too-if you have not attained your undergraduate degree in the 4/5 yrs (which is harder than you'd assume with constant moving from school to school) you are automatically forced out.

It's time to grow up and since guys want to be treated like Pros-they need to live by rules of being an adult. Not sure many of you know that a lot of States are passing laws to exclude taxes on paying the CFB/CBB players to make their Universities more attractive. Now how the **** can you justify to normal people anyone making the type of $ these guys are and not paying any taxes? That gets put out publicly more-you will get a backlash from common fans who want legislation on something that that is well out of hand. Thing is the dumb asses who pushed for this were getting tax free $ under the table $ and it wasn't enough-so they got what they wanted but that's not enough because taxes upset them. LOL

I'm not afraid to be the old man yelling GROW THE **** *P. You don't always get what you want and that's life. Everyone wants to be grown until they are treated like a grown up.
