Because we played half court basketball against a team that is solid defensively.
SC did a really good job getting out on the UK shooters.
Too much one on one basketball and not passing it around.
When a team does that you need to try and establish an inside presence. Not us. We just keep running the same stuff.
We didn't even try to have a post game. That's the problem

Awful ball movement. Practically 0 inside out game, despite having THREE 7 footers. And the inability of Cal to change something up.
Well we did with Trey and it worked but went away from it.
Ill probably see it when I go back and watch that dogshit performance. I must be in to torture. Why on Earth would anyone want to watch that again.
I just left the game. Boys got locked TF up plain and simple. Sc players were ripped compared to our guys. AB and Z looked like linguini noodles compared to their inside guys. Rob looked like a high-school junior, DJ literally pitch shotted a jumper and Reed couldn't get free enough to shoot. This one hurts, it was definitely worse in person. Shit refs didn't help either.

Because Cal can't coach half court offense. Teams that play good defense love how easy we are to defend when we can't run. It's 3 guys standing around while 1 gives a half @$$ed screen for the 5th to force a drive to the basket. Rinse and repeat. We need a new coach with a modern offense. Not something being ran from 18 years ago.
We weren't running anything to get people open. It was one on one ball and bad shots all night. Looked like something you'd watch through a chain link fence.
No passing everyone trying to play one on one… having z under the basket not even screening to try to get him open for a 3 cal reverted to packing the lane
Yes even in the last 5 minutes down 15. We kept driving to the basket. Didn’t even look for 3s. Yet SC kept shooting them and making them. Made no sense.
I was coming here to say this .. because our 1/2 ass offense is wet runny dog shit . Has been for years … it’s the single biggest reason we have went downhill since the OT loss to Auburn in the EE . We can’t come close to getting the shot we want … cal even said it “ go be better than your guy “ sorry HOF dummy , that’s no offense

Because we have NO ONE inside who can create their own shot, or look for a move in the playbook in their pocket. The defense was sagging off us on the inside. Z is too weak to deal with the contact, and too slow too kick it back out. And he's got bad body language and a temper that's not helping things. Stop complaining everytime you get called for a foul or get burned on defense. Stop looking at Cal and the bench everytime down the court. All focus should be on what's going on the court. Ugonna has Cookie Monster mittens for hands. Bradshaw is like a deer just learning to stand up.
Simple: they guarded in a very physical way and did the kind of job we should be doing. They cut off our guard penetration and also covered arc better than any team we've played, then they shot out of their ass. Then we panicked and people started doing weird stuff that everyone does when you panick...no poise equals getting your ass kicked. Case closed.
One of our best passers was on the pine most of the game for some odd reason.
Reed-14 mins=7th most mins and shot only 4 times again. Meanwhile DJ goes 2 of 10 and zero rebs in 30 mins.
When we get bogged down on offense, there is no backup plan. We never run a series of picks, don’t use any back door cuts, no cross screens on the baseline or screens from baseline up to the FT line. There is no imagination in this offense ands there never has been. I will repeat what has been said many times here. We will never win another championship as long as Cal is our coach. So sad.
I saw where they didn't have much size. I thought maybe Cal wanted to pound it in to our non traditional big men.
They played us straight up without leaving the shooters. Cal depends TOTALLY on his Guards to create shots for themselves and others. When they can't get around their defender, Cal has NO answer. He refuses to run off the ball screens for his scorers.
That's why. And he better get used to it, because we're going to see it again. This is 3 games that we lost because the opponent bully us on both ends and made open looks.

We had very little ball movement and didn't put South Carolina into any defensive rotations. It's also why we didn't have many assists.
DJ Wagner isn’t a true PG and that wouldn’t be as bad if Cal wasn’t the coach. Cal simply can’t coach a half court offense . Makes it worse when he doesn’t have a true Pg running the offense .

It's like Cal just changed our entire teams philosophy on the fly. Poung it inside and take long 2s down big to a team who uses the entire clock.
