Why do we hang on every word that these recruiting "insiders" have to say ?

I mean, what do you expect from a radio show / media team ran by a Duke Grad, a Vandy fan, a Indiana fan…that then hired the “new blood” and went with a Florida fan and a Kansas fan. MJ at least grew up a fan but the rest of them are all transplants whose fandom is tied to covering UK for so many years.

Don’t get me wrong, I listen to their show fairly regularly bc it’s entertaining and the best place to get game talk during seasons. It was also a nice way to stay “connected” to Kentucky in general while living all over the country

Being an insider in today’s world of recruiting means nothing. There are just too many factors that play into these kids decisions that can change overnight.

take Nate Ament for example. I personally think that kid wants to commit to Duke but is waiting to see how their roster plays out and to see what is the best NIL deal for him. Louisville could come in at any point and offer an insane deal, like 4Mill for one year, a sign today or the deals off the table type of thing, and no one would blame Ament for taking it. There’s no way for “Insiders” to be able to predict that type of thing.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read reports that are the complete opposite of truth. I do not follow any insider folks. And I’m sure there are some good ones. But in the recruiting world, even the kids don’t know what they are doing. There is no accurate information in these constantly shifting scenarios. Definitely shows that our insiders don’t know much but even guys on the outside though UK was the favorite. Never know in these NIL days things switch ever couple days or hours now.

Its pretty obvious that things changed when Devries flew out to sweeten the pot that things changed. Every single person from Maggard/Memanboy all the way up to Jack Pilgrim and Sisk all said things can change.


I was as p*ssed and upset we didnt get him as all of you but the person I'm going to direct it at is Pope if he doesnt win with the roster he puts out there. I’m sure everyone on this board can afford the $10 a month to get their info, but I refuse to be played like I was in the past.

I had zero doubt Wilkerson was going to Indiana. They had the money and the featured role. The key is returning Oweh and signing one more shooter. It doesn't have Wilkerson for this team to have a shot at winning it all this year.

Folks keep saying that Indiana offered him a better role, but I don't thin that was the determining factor.

UK only has one legit scorer on the perimeter right now - Oweh. Indiana's primary scorer will be similar in that they have Devries.

At both UK and Indiana, Wilkerson would have been the #2 option.

This was 100% about money, not role. Wilkerson used the "I didn't want to be another guy at UK" loosely. It was clear that his decision was determined by $500,000 extra Indiana offered.

I believe insiders are a dying breed. Like you said it can change in an instant with cash in the open now so basically the only news is who a staff is looking at. Nobody will rarely know who is favored or how close we are to signing a player very often now. That information is only good for knowing who a staff is targeting or going to visit early now I’d say.
