Who is the best point guard in the SEC?

ukfrosh25.jpg

In all seriousness, I heard an NBA scout yesterday say that WB4 would start at Kentucky. He's that good.

Do some research. Most coaches want 6'3 over 5'9 with same skill set. Ulis is awesome, so is WB4.

I don't think y'all have any idea how good Baldwin is.

Whether you wanna call him a PG or not, the best of any SEC guards will be Newman. I love our guys but I'm honest enough to say Newman is the best guard in the SEC.

In other news, it'll be a few years, at least, before Wade Baldwin is as good as Ulis. Hell, maybe he'll never be as good.

Ulis >>>>>>>>> WB4 yesterday!

Wow, what a bad game by Baldwin. He has had 3 terrible games this year and as you can imagine, they were all losses. Wade typically brings it every night, but dude was way off yesterday.

Ulis was phenomenal yesterday.

You know who Murray is now? Still think Lachance is better than Booker?

Who is Booker? I didn't see him play yesterday. As for LaChance, what an incredible season long slump this kid has been in. He's a major reason why we have 8 losses. Hopefully, he can get his confidence back before it's too late.

And yes, now that the college basketball season has begun (about halfway through, actually), I know who Murray is. I love watching him play too, very much a stud.

What about the other 5 losses?

Love the backhanded compliment to Ulis. "Yesterday." LMAO. More like yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Just two examples of your very poor basketball knowledge. Add in your smarmy tone, you get an overall shitty poster/troll. The point with Murray is if you don't know who a projected lotto pick is, stay out of a real convo. The point with Booker is it shows you are a blind homer of a school with low expectations.

But only yesterday right? On most days WB would eat Ulis for lunch. Must have just been some crazy moon alignment or something yesterday.

Maybe so. We'll see, won't we?

Surely you don't think yesterday was a 1 game season, do you?

Can you imagine if Ulis was judged off of his worst game?

Poor logic, brah.

If you'd like to watch how good Ulis is again, and how bad Roman Numeral Baldwin is again, SECN is replaying the game at 11:30 eastern.

Friedas thinks he can qualify every compliment and still be sincere. I'm not sure who that scout was, maybe the same one who recommended Anthony Bennett be the #1 pick. Baldwin would be right next to Cal on the bench.

Not at all. You still refuse to judge Ulis on his full season of work. How is that any less logical than judging Baldwin on one game?

Ulis is the best PG in the SEC. I don't think any neutral observer would disagree. I like Baldwin, he's a hell of a player and will definitely be in the league. But as far as college PG go this season Ulis>>>>>>>Baldwin.

Not a knock on Baldwin but Ulis is having one hell of a year. Will likely win his 3rd SEC player of the week for this season after the games against Arky and Vandy.

To this point, Ulis has definitely had a better year than Wade. Not really close so far.

Yesterday was probably his worst game I'll give you that. But his other "terrible" games would appear to be Bama, St Johns, and Gardner Webb (if I had to pick 3 based on the stats), all Vandy wins

What games are you referring to ? I'm asking because I'm not even sure you know enough about your own team to be coming on here and degrading ours.

His other two terrible games were at Arkansas and at South Carolina.

He's played pretty well the rest of the year.

3 out of 19 is unacceptable, but I think he's struggled with extra pressure he's putting on himself because there are NBA scouts at every game. Quite frankly, he needs to be less flashy and play more within the offense. Hell, Wade fell down twice yesterday and turned it over 5 times...

Just a rough day, but he'll learn from it and get better.

Tyler Ulis has been amazing in SEC play.

Through the first 7 games:

TS% - 59.9
A% - 32.5
TO% - 11.1
Stl% - 2.4
FTr - .511
FT% - 89.1
Offensive rating - 134.1

-His TS% is trending up despite struggles from deep, 31% in conference. That very high FTr combined with free throw shooting precision is the strength of his shooting game so far in conference play. It's exciting to think that he can be even better if his 3 point shooting reverts to it's 2015 form.

-That's the highest assist rate for a UK PG since John Wall.

-That's the lowest turnover rate for any UK PG.

-He also sports the highest offensive rating for any UK guard during the Calipari era.

The pessimist in me says that Ulis will not keep up this torrid start to conference play, but he has outperformed my expectations already this season. I hope he can keep it up. If he does, he'd make a strong argument for the best season by a Calipari PG at UK.

Have you ever noticed that people that refer to players by their first names incessantly are the most irrational/dumb? UL leads the nation in this.

(See "Wade" and "Riley" in this and other threads)
