Raftery is your funny uncle. And a real product of the 50s. The words you'd use to characterize him are all old fashioned. Droll. Jovial. (Who's jovial anymore?) And he knows whereof he speaks. (As they used to say.) He doesn't need to edit himself much because providing commentary was never high on his list of career moves. When he came up in the 50s, if there was a 2nd guy in the booth it was to keep the play-by-play guy from falling asleep or getting loaded.

Ian Engel should be Commentator 1 for NCAA and CBS. But next year SEC Will not be on CBS so will not matter to me.

The other is a Dukie that I think is the best Dukie announcing or doing color: Jim Spanarkel. Put Ian and Spanarkel together and you have the A-Team in my books. I do not care if they lean to the ACC any. They both are good at their jobs.
