I don’t think going to final fours and national titles are an expectation for Texas. Going to some sweet 16s, putting a bunch of players in the NBA and getting big brand coverage might be a big deal for them.

I would not be happy with a Sean Miller hire if I were a Texas fan. You get Will Wade to change his mind at NCST. Billy Donovan, Chris Beard and Dana Altman all took jobs and then left after a few days.

Yes, if there’s one thing we know about Pitino, it’s that he’d never leave a perfect setup.
I have no idea whether Texas would actually look at Pitino, but I could make the case that they’d be a great match. And I’d wager that if Pitino ever sees a path to greater glory, he will leave St. John’s in a New York minute.
Think cal would take it if somehow he could get out of the can't go to another sec team language in his contract with Arkansas.
Texas is a better job than here in Lexington. I say that ONLY bcause UK pressure to win BIG is 10 time more than Texas. Texas also can pay a coach as much or more than any school in the entire country. Deep Deep pockets in Austin.

Maybe they surprise me and make some kind of absurd offer that someone can’t refuse, but I don’t expect that it will be someone who’s already established another power conference program at a higher level than what Texas currently has. The Sean Miller rumors make a lot of sense in that regard. He was forced out at Arizona more because of a pay for play scandal that no longer seems like major baggage in the NIL era than for poor results on the court, so he already has some high level experience. While the new Big East is still a decent basketball conference, Xavier can’t compete with the SEC for resources either. Seems like it would be mutually beneficial on paper.
