While other teams load up with transfers and key returning players…

So we have:

Dillingham at the 1. That’s his spot and Wagner probably fills in there when Dillingham is out. No PG is going to come here knowing Dillingham will be here.

Wagner at the 2. Sheppard is the reserve there and Reeves could also come back and play some there. No one is coming in at that spot.

Edwards at the 3. He starts there. If Reeves comes back, he plays a lot there. I don’t think a spot is being held for Livingston. We are going after Knecht and Ingram, so Livingston is likely gone.

Bradshaw, like it or not, at the 4. That’s most likely where Cal plays him. Knecht and Ingram could also play here. Collins might return.

Tshiebwe or Onyenso at the 5. I think it’s and either/or here. Onyenso is probably going to wait to see what Tshiebwe does. If Tshiebwe leaves, Onyenso is our 5. Tshiebwe stays, Onyenso leaves. Ware is the backup (I know, that’s not optimal, but it’s how I see it). Bradshaw probably sees some minutes at the 5 as well. Nobody is going to come here with that being the likely scenario. The Sharp kid from WKU might be the best bet to find another 5 man. He might be willing to come in and backup Tshiebwe or Onyenso. I don’t think he is starting material for us.

I really can’t see how Cal could be any more active in the portal. The 1 and 2 spots are spoken for. The starting spot at the 3 is locked up. The starting 4 spot is pretty much locked up. And the 5 spot is down to either Tshiebwe or Onyenso. Hard for Cal to offer much playing time to any portal guys given the current situation.
FINALLY!!! Someone posted a fact filled post that has relevance and substance!

Besides the fact that Bradshaw can't shoot outside or handle the ball he makes a great 4.Once again Cal has made promises to play a player out of his natural position at cost to UK.
I thought Bradshaw was suppose to be a good 3 point shooter? Admittedly, I haven’t seen him play enough to know, but I have heard others mention his 3 ball is pretty good for a 7 footer.

Cal does not seem to be too interested in getting ready for next season by bringing some good transfers in, remember everyone coming next year will be freshmen with no experience.

We wait on Chris Livingston who needs a miracle to get drafted in the second round. Some schools already have a team for next year, Time to wake up Cal!
Same every year. Just so he can appease the five stars. Almost like Cal is being careful to get transfers that will not interfere with his five stars. All this time good transfers being gobbled up. A coach looking to win the championship as his top priority doesn't pass on some of the players that have already went elsewhere. They don't worry about getting a guy that might beat out a five star for playing time. They get the very best players they possibly can, every day. It puts us at an disadvantage to teams that just gather all the best players they can and whoever earns it in practice they get to start and play the minutes. All for the desire to make a few kids and their families rich as the top priority.

We have figured it out. Our program being used for the coach to help a few kids get rich instead of thinking of all the guys on the team, the fans and the program as a whole. And he thinks it is OK. This transfer portal has really disturbed his top desire because now he has a chance to get good veteran players to build a roster but for him it is a problem of having to be careful not to bring in transfers that will beat out one of his five stars that he is trying to get rich as quick as possible.

Sounds like Cal is putting all his eggs in the Bradshaw at the 4 basket. Not sure that’s the best move. I think he can play the 4 in spurts, but not sure about a 30 minutes a game 4 man.

Well said…..there are PLENTY of conversations going on, and it’s a miracle all of us crazy UK fans aren’t in the know…..cmon man this is a business
A business that has FAILED for 3 straight years using the current model , why ever should anyone be concerned. There is a term for repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results. I wonder what it is

Most schools don't have the 5 stars in the first place.
Name the school that has incoming and returning 5 stars that hitting the portal hard.

I do a lot of stock trading and my BIGGEST mistakes were jumping in to trades because I didn't want to miss out. I see the portal the same way. I have zero problem with the staff waiting patiently for the right player. There is a ton going on behind the scenes that we can't see. Besides, how many threads have we had recently that named a player in the portal and begged Cal to go get him? Seriously, how many of those "go get em" players would work out??

Patience can be and often is rewarded. Now, if we get to the Summer and we have an empty roster, yeah, I will be upset but it is too early to panic.
Yes yes. And then when the roster sucks balls you’ll tell us to move on, there’s nothing we can do about it now, and besides we won in 2012 with fewer than 12 on the roster. You’ll say let’s see how the season plays out. Then when we flame out early you’ll tell us to move on, next season will be better because of who’s coming in. You cowbois never stop telling people to shut up.

Reeves, CJ, Livingston, Collins, and Oscar still in limbo as of today.
Given this fact, what's your pitch to portal players?
You also have 5 five star freshmen coming in.
So what's your selling point if talk to a portal player tomorrow?

It's sort of amazing how many fools are still giving CCC the benefit of the doubt even after all these constant epic failures.

Actually, nobody should be happy about the past 3 seasons. But, the CONSTANT complaining and crying is way over the top. The way many of you post, I wonder why you don't just go find another sport until Cal is gone. You might be happier not watching UK play until we get a new coach.

So true! There were 949 players in the college basketball transfer portal as of this morning. The way things are going Calipari is going to miss out on at least 900 of them! Wake up Cal!
Maybe its time to stop recruiting highschool kids, unless they top 5.W With that much talent in the portal who knows what kind of team could be built.

I see how you avoided the question.
I guess he could give them all until this afternoon to decide.
The guys we have in limbo with the exception of CJ would all be top 10 portal guys with Oscar being a clear #1.
I"d say it's smart to let it all play out. It not like there are program changing players out there now and the very best may enter at the end of the window.

"while other teams load up with transfers and key returning players" Calipari takes 6 weeks to swim in Barbados, sells scholarships on eBay, hires blind relatives and cronies as assistant coaches, and changes his telephone ring to Rocky Top.

Yes let it “play out.” Meanwhile other schools snap up the cream of the crop and our guys leave - like they always do - and Cal gets left holding the bag. And then you sycophants come back and say “Ah trust muh Cal, let’s see how the season plays out before we jump to any conclusions” and then when we flame out in the second round again it’s “Shut up hater, who you gonna get to replace Cow, let’s let the offseason play out before pressing the panic button” rinse repeat ad nauseum. You people make me sick.

Who are you referring to as "cream of the crop"?
You need to go to a fantasy camp and instead of being a player, you get to be an assistant coach and you get to pitch UK to these guys with the current roster situation, NIL, etc.
It doesn't have a damn thing to do with Cal with me because he could quit tomorrow and I'll still be a diehard fan.
I just know that the Kentucky I grew up with is never coming back.
CBB is an entirely new product now.
If you want to believe that a new coach will win big and bring in players that DONT play for the name on the BACK then that's your prerogative.
I believe we will have at least a 50% roster turnover every year regardless of who the coach is.

Stop making excuses for the $9M man. You’re pathetic. And who gives a hot bucket of hamster vomit about our current roster? You mean the players holding the program hostage? The same players who lost twice to Candy and couldn’t make the SS?

This is why Cal is better than all of them.

He does his business while they all scramble around trying to beat him.

Even Pitino had to start cheating to try and compete with Cal.

Let the master do his work.

If you want to get to the FF you hire Cal.

If you can’t hire Cal then you gotta figure out another way.

It’s proven to be problematic for them.

Bradshaw at the 4 is a disaster waiting to happen. We really needed a stretch 4 good shooter because neither Wagner or Dillingham are known as outside shooters.

Nonsense. You know good and well what you're suggesting. Soon when Cal is out of here, you'll disappear with whatever mediocre agenda you're trying to push. This team has no bonafide, game-winning experience coming back, and most of that "recruiting class" we have is a bunch of short beanstalks.

Evidently you have not watched Bradshaw play. Here is what players that played with him at the McDonald All American game said.

Five-star PF Kwame Evans: “I’d probably say Aaron Bradshaw (impressed me this week). Being able to shoot it like that with how tall he is. He’s taller than me and can shoot it; that’s crazy. He was doing this one drill where he came down and made five straight threes from the corner; that was crazy.”

Five-star PF Sean Stewart: “Aaron Bradshaw (has impressed me). I never got to play against him. I’ve seen him before, but I never really got to watch his games. But he’s way bigger than I thought he was. He’s like 7-foot-2, and he can shoot really well. It’s been cool playing with him.”

I guess you know more about him than players that have played with him.

Aaron Bradshaw and Ugonna Kingsley Onyenso said hello.

Punctuation is your friend. A few commas and periods would help.

You make a point here that is so fundamental but people simply can not get it through their heads. With NIL and the portal, quality players have options. They are permit and encouraged to make their best deal every year. Only solution to this is inferior players or a really sweet NIl program. Good players are not going to pass up money and playing time to ride the bench at KY.

Amateur college basketball ended as a sport when NIL started. As of now, there is no history or legacy in semipro college basketball. No blue bloods. It’s all a new game.

if we knew that there were things going on behind the scenes, that would ease a lot of frustration brewing since 2015. Since most everything that ccc says is double talk, I doubt that much is going on period

Okay, serious question: As I counted the roster, we had 11 players who were capable of playing significant minutes. (Collins, Fredrick, LIvingston, Reeves, Theiro, Toppin, Oscar, Wallace, Ware, Wheeler and Ugonna)

We can argue personnel all day long but in keeping on topic, it seems to me that should be enough players to field a highly competitive team in most years. To say that we had zero bench seems to be an overstatement.

So, with those facts in mind, why do you say we had zero bench?
Frederick, Collins, Ugo, Ware & Theiro basicallly contributed nothing and were delegated to the bench
Reeves & Toppin were hot and cold, yet there was no one on the bench to replace them. Replacing zero with zero is not a contending formula

You can't force Livingston out. He's not being given any more or less time than those before him.
Shit like that gets you blackballed by AAU programs and definitely by Klutch.
college basketball is no a business
Klutch is doing what they think is best for their client, UK needs to do the same and not be left holding the bag
