But this isn't the full story. Even though UK could be a top 5 team next year, does it really mean there is a vast disparity between the upper-echelon teams and the rest of the pack? That was the case last year with Duke, UK, 'Zona, and Wisconsin showing real separation. I don't think that's the case next year.
Look at it this way, next season there will be more of a plateau in college ball rather than a true mountain top to climb with four legit teams at the top and everyone else looking upward. Last season, there was really only four or five teams with a real shot of taking UK down in the tournament. Next year, there will be dozens. The element that could propel UK into the top 5 in November or December - parity - could just as easily bite them in the tournament.
