What's your take on the Diallo situation.

When Duke starts signing foreign kids, look for the problem to be solved. Kansas cheats like crazy and this might just be the one that bites them. They should have had 08 stripped. But it's Kansas we're talking about, the single most corrupt school in the NCAA's.

I hope he never plays.
Ah, that says a lot about your position here. It's a pretty sad one. You hate Kansas so you hope for the worst for the kid. At least we cleared that up.

The kid will make it to the NBA if he plays for Kansas or not. Has KU received any penalties in the Cliff Alexander case yet? I haven't read about it if they have.

The fewer good players KU has the better. F$$k Kansas.

Look at all the UK fans backing (what could be) a corrupt situation. You don't have all the facts, so why in the hell are some of you rushing in to be the first in line to call them out over a Kansas recruit?

I hope he DOESNT play, and I feel zero remorse for it. I'm a UK fan. The worse Kansas is, the better. IDGAF about his one year at Kansas.

To be fair, it is only the open-minded and progressive UK fans that are 'backing' Diallo.

The last word used to describe me is "progressive". Code word for modern day communist. :)

I have hair to my shoulders though..... That should count for something.

I am from Crawford Texas there is nothing communist about that. And, the hair is high and tight, nothing communist about that. But I am open-minded about facts. Get a hair cut!

You just want him cleared. You don't have all the facts.

You are right on both counts. I do want him cleared. And, I don't have ALL of the facts. However, I would say that I am most informed on Rupp on this subject. I am the go-to-Jayhawk resident expert. You are welcome.

I'm not a bit progressive but I'm not so childish as to hope a kid can't play just because I don't like the team he is trying to play for. These same posters wouldn't like it if Diallo had come to UK.

They're going back to try to help him. Theu are not accepting Our Saviour New American classes so they're looking for something that will help him. BTW, he doesn't have the core classes to be eligible, there's your answer and I'm not sure how that makes the NCAA a joke.

The NCAA sucks period. And I think anyone that does not agree with that sucks also for not seeing the suckiness of the NCAA

What I think is being missed here in all this discussion is that no one really knows what exactly the NCAA knows about his situation. The NCAA does not come out and publicly clear or disqualify someone. They tell the member institution and it is up to them to put the word out. My guess is that they have already declared him ineligible and have informed Kansas of the fact. They have probably allowed for him to continue to practice with the team while appeals are being heard, just like they did Kantor. Kansas may not be releasing all that they know in order to try to put public pressure on the NCAA. If Kansas is so sure that he should be eligible, then maybe they should just play him and let the cards fall where they may. If the NCAA upholds his ineligibility, the they will have to forfeit all the games he played in. The only ones putting info out into the media is Kansas. Just like UNC, you don't know whether they are saying everything or not of just trying to play the PR game. It could backfire on them is they want to keep trying to put pressure on the NCAA.

This is one of the most misunderstood issues on this board. KU cannot play a player who isn't cleared to play. He is NOT eligible. All players must be cleared by the NCAA Clearing House a.k.a. NCAA Eligibility Center. He is not cleared and cannot play until he is.

It's kind of hard for me to feel sorry for a kid that will make more money next year in the Nba than i'll probably make the next 10 years. Yeah, he might not get to play college basketball. Big deal. Kanter didn't get to play college basketball and i didn't see fans from all cross the country mad about that. You know what, it worked out just fine for Kanter and he is now making millions of dollars playing basketball. The real anger from this is from the fact that KU sucks in the post and this kid would help KU go from awful in the post to pretty good. Without this kid, KU will get bounced out of the tourney earlier than they hope. With this kid, KU is a contender to win it all. If it weren't for those lil facts, i'm pretty sure so many KU fans wouldn't be so upset about this kid not being allowed to play college basketball. I'm sure if the roles were reversed we would be doing the same, but don't act like all of you care about this kid personally and not just his basketball talents.

First of all, he doesn't play for UK. I have no feelings on him.

Second, we don't have all the facts. So far it looks like most of his core classes are trash. Real student athletes did real work to become eligible. If he didn't do the work, he shouldn't play. I don't care how much someone's heart bleeds for him. We have rules that must be followed or clearing house anarchy will become rampid.

For everyone that wants him to become eligible because it somehow makes them feel better individually, just rememeber, you have no Idea what the NCAA has on him. Rumors are up to 50 or 60% of core classes no good. That's staggering, and if true, he shouldn't get a minute. I would hate to see an NCAA scholarship go to a player that didn't earn it academically, even if some just want everyone to get them.

I feel much better knowing society as well as these university governing bodies still have some standards on these young men.

My take isnt nearly as emotional as yours. My issue is that a foreign kid who couldn't even speak English in Feb 2012 was "handled" the entire time by adults who apparently took him down the wrong path. As for the NCAA rules, you seem pretty comfortable cherry picking which ones you like and when they're applied. What happens with home schooled kids? My larger issue is college entrance exams. If a kid has good enough grades to be accepted by a university and good enough entrance exam scores, without wildly lowering their standards for admission, what real business is it of the NCAA. The clearing process would be very simple then and would be almost totally free of arbitrary decisions by idiots at the NCAA.

Most homeschooled kids still follow certain criteria that would maintain their eligiblity. My daughter's homeschool program was approved by the state and she had an academic advisor. I assume that the same was true for Tim Tebow since he played college ball.

The issue in this case doesn't appear, to me, the NCAA just being jerks and idiots but an honest attempt to stop the influx of kids from diploma mills. But, as I said before, it is a shame that they don't try to stop college diploma mills, like UNC.
