What's your take on the Diallo situation.

Glad he didn't pick UK. I wish the NCAA would let kids play. I don't get what it is they think they are accomplishing by blocking kids who are just trying to reach their dreams. I'm actually kind of shocked that they didn't drag their feet on the Skal thing. I have to admit I was a bit worried about him getting cleared when I first heard his story.

I don't care if he plays or not. But it's a complete joke the NCAA thinks they can go back this far into an athletes history. Yet have no jurisdiction on what happens at North Carolina?

NCAA is the definition of hypocrisy.

I'll be honest, I'm kind of bitter at how differently the media is treating the Diallo situation versus how they treated the Kanter situation.

Rival fans are so full of fake outrage over Diallo because they don't feel Kansas is a real threat IMO.

If Diallo were cleared and Kansas were to win a natty people's tones would change.

They're going back to try to help him. Theu are not accepting Our Saviour New American classes so they're looking for something that will help him. BTW, he doesn't have the core classes to be eligible, there's your answer and I'm not sure how that makes the NCAA a joke.

Hate what has happened to us in the past in similar situations. Hate what is happening right now with Diallo just the same.

We have been victims of a governing body that seemingly acts arbirtrarily in it's decisions and relies on a disposition of "no precedent" for similar situations.

Others are also victimized and this is a great example.

Timeliness and some semblance of consistency is what we all crave. I hope Diallo/Kansas get something soon in general. This is ridiculous.

The problem is that Diallo defenders claim he speaks 4 different languages. The NCAA has proof he only speaks 3.

I guess I must be misrembering, but I thought this was not an NCAA delayed-decision issue.
I thought the committee rules him officially ineligible and the only reason it drags on is Diallo's camp lawyering up to fight.

IF that's true, it's not on the NCAA (as far as timing, that is).

Since none of us know what the NCAA issues are, we should just suspend judgement until we do.

Exactly. We don't know what the problem is. Rather than announcing his suspension they are just going to let him sit for a certain amount of games. Not a declared suspension.

Kind of suspicious to me that Kansas has had so many problems with the NCAA for them not to have a problem.

Like it or not, the NCAA has rules. Kid doesn't have the core courses. They can't just make an exception for him because Kansas really needs him or because he speaks four languages or Bilas called them out on Twitter. That wouldn't be fair to the many other kids out there who signed with Podunk U and were ruled ineligible for the sane reason.

It sounds like someone is going to exceptional measures to try find a resolution - that already wouldnt be happening for the Podunk U commit.

I also agree that the entire narrative here would be profoundly different if this were a Kentucky recruit. There would be articles and exposes calling out his basketball factory high school, how his handler is acting as his agent, and somehow all the sleaze would be Cal's fault. UNC, UL, IU etc fans would be in an uproar at the mere idea he might be ruled eligible.

Instead it is poor old long-suffering Bill Self - and a blue blood school in Kansas that lacks any natural predators (that are any good at basketball) - i.e. there are no huge fanbases that despise them - so they get a pass on everything.

Can't diallo just take a standardized test of some sort? From what I've read he is an intelligent kid

This! I was of the impression that he should be eligible when I thought it was purely academics and they were requesting tests from 6th grade.

Now that the hangup apparently seems to be with his guardian, I'm not sure I can hop on board with the majority who thinks he should be eligible. Maybe he shouldn't be. Kansas has really put the NCAA in a hard spot with all their past troubles with players receiving improper benefits. Maybe if they'd been fair about the McLemore or Alexander situations where games should have been vacated, I might be more apathetic. In my opinion, the NCAA has already done them enough favors.

Don't really care but I'll make two comments;
1. Clearly the issue is not just his high school/middle school classes, its the status of his handler/agent.

2. Two weeks ago a thread like this would have been overrun by Jayhawks setting us straight. The loss to Michigan State and the Cats whipping Duke seems to have sated their appetite for debate.

Because it would take to long to get you up to speed to have an intelligent conversation about it and by that time Cheick will be eligible. Off to Maui ! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I agree the NCAA needs to follow the rules...all of them, but they should rule on it before the season opens and not drag it out..either they get to play or no all the indecision is what I struggle with.

A young man who should be playing is being wrongfully denied his rightful place on the Kansas team. Simple as that.

Honestly, I don't care if he plays or not. He's still going to be a first round pick whether he's cleared or not, if that wasn't the case it would be much more unfortunate for him and I would feel differently, his stock could even drop. It's not like Self and KU fans wanted Kanter cleared.

Patients, you people kill me when you talk about UNCHEAT, getting off. They are going to get theirs, these things take time.

To be clear if he wasn't eligible, he would be drafted in the first round. If he is cleared, then Self would do what Self does and either keep him two years or lower his draft stock. Cliff Alexander would have been drafted if he never played for Self.

My take is this: I don't feel bad or sorry for KU, there is probably a good reason he's not eligible....where was all the outrage for us when Kanter was ruled ineleigle? That's right, there were none!

The NCAA is a joke! I'm sure they are too busy figuring out ways to cover up UNC issues. They just haven't had time to clear the man. It's a real shame.
Evidently, most people don't understand this. The NCAA is owned and managed by its member schools, which include Kentucky and Kansas. Whatever the NCAA is, it is only what the member schools make of it. The NCAA does many things well although a lot of those things are more routine in nature and unrecognized by the public. Like all organizations composed of humans, the NCAA is subject at times to internal politics. Some say what happened to Enes Kanter was a product of internal politics when the President of the University of Washington retaliated against Kanter for turning away from his school. We will never know. Someone has to enforce the rules and investigate eligibility issues. That's why the member schools formed and authorized the NCAA. This has not always been done well, but most of the time it is. I do not agree with what happened to Kanter. I think Diallo's case should have been settled 1 way or the other by now. There is no validity to accusations of cover-ups when the investigation in question has not even been completed or reported yet. But understand this. When someone says the NCAA is a joke, they are saying Kentucky is a joke. Because the NCAA is entirely run by its member schools, including Kentucky.
