You can’t end up with scraps and have a good team. This system wxcuse in going lane us lesser talent. And if the talent doesn’t get better then we won’t improve. There’s some serious talent in the portal but most is already off the board. And wait? I think the portal closes on April 7 so that’s who’s in. Saying more will enter well maybe so maybe no. Leading from behind in sports will leave you following. You go and land the recruits BEFORE April 7th. When you’re a fan of this program and you’re losing battles for players left and right well I don’t see pope building a contender for anything next year at this point. We have a lot of needs and based on the roster numbers now we only need 2 or 3 but they need to be studs. Waiting and hoping for something well could be the defining moment especially if pope has Barney in his ear. Man I want to puke at the what’s happened to our program and the expectations.

Didn’t we get our first player in the middle of April last year? And we won’t have a good team this year? This is an example of what everyone is pointing and laughing at.

Its April 2nd. The Final Four has not even started. This time last year Calipari was our coach. It is the 1st inning of the portal madness. Try your best to be patient and not so emotional.

He is happy that BBN loves Pope, it doesn’t matter that he is not providing with resources necessary, so he is content with status quo. He is leading from behind because “wait and see” is the safest approach.

I gotta say though this takes some heat out of can't miss high school kids. Now it's can't miss guys with experience...at least their agents insist they are can't miss.

We are going to have a very good team next year.

Barring injury we will compete for the FF.

Just like we would have this year.

We are not going to have top 10 draft type players under Pope unless they develop into that.


We have to get better defensively and especially defensive rebounding.

This can’t be stated enough.

We were used to winning our annual recruiting national titles and judging players’ usefulness by star ratings and draft projections, despite many of these players never having played a second of college basketball.

We are taking a new approach, and it’s an approach many fans clamored for for years - returning players, running a system with set plays, playing for the name on the front.


Annnnnnnd, we’re back to wanting a pile of five star freshman and random portal guys based on random portal rankings. So, we’re back to star rankings chasing.

Why is everyone tripping?? All the kids that are gonna enter the portal haven't even entered yet. So we don't even truly know what options we have. Be patient, trust our staff. Stop being so knee-jerk with every dude we're supposedly interested in.

Pope will get us ours. We will be better than we were this year, next year. Have faith and calm down. The sky isn't falling.

To answer the OPs original question "What's wrong with this place"? It's simple, there are way too many people that don't have a life and live vicariously through UK basketball. They think that they have an idea what it takes to be successfull, but in reality, they probably never played or coach at any level above middle school and do not have a clue on how to assemble a roster or to manage that roster.

That is fine but doesn't excuse the front running, pants wetting, and hot takes.

One can be deeply invested and still not be a wanker.

It's both hilarious and exhausting watching all these so called "true BBN fans" claiming the sky is falling every chance they get. Then they try and dunk on other fans if they happen to be correct once in a while. It's pathetic watching grown men cry every time we get down by 2 points, start calling our own players trash, hoping they'll be benched or transfer, running out conspiracy theories about players faking injuries... And then somehow feel slighted when a player doesn't want to come to Kentucky and deal with our fanbase... Truly shocking
